I copied this link from imgur to see if someone can help me locate the the hidden Rift Buildings imgur.com/dCVnN2R but for some reason it's not an active link. Any ideas? Thank you!
I can never seem to find the way to get the original quality image off of imgur any more... Anyway. If you can see it, X marks the first spot.
The marked cloud is I believe the one labeled '3' (Not 3T or 3C, just 3) so the steps to check what layout you're on are as follows.
Clear 3, labeled with X. Clear 4, one square further down-left of 3. Clear 5, by turning and clearing the square up-left of 4. Stop when you see a shadow in the clouds. Based on where the shadow is you can tell which layout you're on. There should be one down there as the top left clearing shows you're not on layout 1 or 4.

Arkynos, thank you so much for responding to my plea for help! You are one of the people whose advice I've been following to breed dragons. I will try this.
Does unlocking a trait on a dragon in the transfiguration tower open it permanently for all of those dragons? I need a Malachite dragon, with a light trait. Took me forever to get one, and it's earth. At this rate, it may be cheaper to buy it for 10k and focus on other things to breed if it opens light for all future malachites. If I need to eventually breed it for it to permanently unlock, I'll just keep trying.
I had 10,000 to spare 🙃 So I bought a trait for my Mirage. It only works for the dragon you select.

Once I get more than one of the same dragons with diff traits, can I get rid of of all but one? When I want to use it does that mean I would need to go to the tower to choose what trait or accessory I would like?
Yes, BUT BE CAREFUL!! DO NOT SELL the one with the Rift trait!! I sold a quake with Rift and wasn't able to move the other Quake back to the Rift. Yes, you need to go to the Tower to change it's trait. IT MUST BE IN THE RIFT to use the Tower

Oh, my goodness. Thank you for clearing that up. A bit pricey, no? But, I guess the price will be worth it in certain scenarios. Like, if after many, many, many failed attempts, one cannot manage to get a Blue Fire with an air trait (as needed for Zaffer). One can toss their hands up, spend the 10,000E on an air trait for their Blue Fire collection, and call it a day. I have a feeling I will be doing this (more than once) in the future.

Nice ! I was trying Watch and Ember both fire, While I did get both Shadow and Mirage with Fire trait, but Ghast still eludes me
PS do NOT breed Shadow and Mirage together all I got was a regular Light and 2 Dark no rift traits at all
thanks for the tip, however I tried breeding malachite (just a plant trait but still) and plant rift together in hopes of getting a Spore, which I missed out on, and I got a plant trait ironwood! And the breeding app says that two opposites, while unlikely, technically can yield either parent as a result. But my strategy to get Ghast will be to use my Thunderbird, since it is also light, dark with a fire trait. I think that's an easier strategy - get Thunderbird first, then Ghast. I'll keep you guys posted how it goes. Today was water alignment for me, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity and I managed to successfully breed Kampos finally! So now I'm just missing Ghast, Lacuna, Viridian, and Zaffer. These will all be hard, and will take awhile, so I'll probably be focusing on clearing enough fog to upgrade and buy as many habitats as I can and then go for these crazy rifters.
I followed your advise SBF and got a lighning trait quake then spent every breed up to the 5,000 Eth using it and my lvl 19 fire rift trying for thunderbird and no luck

Clarification request: it unlocks just for that one dragon, singular, not all dragons of that breed/species/whatever? You've checked with a *different* Rift element Mirage dragon and they can't use that trait? And/or that trait doesn't show as unlocked in the Mirage page in the dragonarium? Because that seems to be what you've implied here and if true then I am astonished at the miserly attitude that would show from BFS.

What would worry me too is if I had several Mirage dragons, one I paid 10k a couple times on for different elements, and someday when I clean up my 'extra' dragons I sell the one that had been unlocked. It almost seems to be a bug if it doesn't unlock all Mirage dragons.

JUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO SELL THE ONE WITH THE RIFT ELEMENT. Non Rift element dragons CANNOT go to the RIFT even if they have traits!! The trait from the SECOND (third, fourth, fifth, etc) dragon will be available to the FIRST dragon using the Trait Tower. For example, I have 1 Howl dragon but it has 5 traits because I bred several Howls with different traits, hatched them (not released for the E), then sold them. Again, be sure NOT to sell the dragon with the Rift ELEMENT.

Ok, I just had to test this myself. I have an alt account that has just collected some rift etherium, found the tower right away, and done nothing else in the rift. I had two poison dragons. One was poison with a fire trait, and one with an air trait. I had no other traits open. I took the poison fire trait dragon to the tower, and unlocked Dark for 10k. I then took the poison air trait dragon to the tower, and dark was still unlocked. I was able to set the second poison to dark. I switched both to fire. Then both to dark.
So to confirm, unlocking for 10k opens up the trait for every single dragon you own of that type. Not just the one single time. It's the same as if you had bred that trait.

Thanks for making this clarification! I didn't have another Mirage to test it with, but that would have been my assumption - Mirage only but not any other dragons.
I can see that after breeding the large number of times sometimes needed for a specific trait on an opposite dragon, one might surrender to the economy of buying the trait.

Quil Thanks for clearing that up! It's good to know that it does work as expected, and quite a lot better than the alternative: as you said in your original post it might be worth the 10k if one is having real problems getting the right traits on the opposites for Viri/Zaf/Lac. Actually I imagine I'll unlock most of the opposite traits later that way, if I ever start run out of more productive things to spend my Etherium on.

so glad to hear that, I too was worried like the others. Having to pay 10k E3M per dragon of the same name for each of the same trait would be insane.
I followed your advise SBF and got a lighning trait quake then spent every breed up to the 5,000 Eth using it and my lvl 19 fire rift trying for thunderbird and no luck
How frustrating! No Thunderbird for me either.
Elf and vampdragon I'm sorry to hear you both didn't have any luck getting thunderbird. What level dragons did you both use? Mine were above level 15. Also, during the fire alignment helps a bunch.

I think there is some confusion going on here. Only dragons that have the Rift element can have traits. So you can have a Rift element storm dragon with a metal trait, for example. From your post, what do you mean by not "selling the dragon with the rift element, even if it has a trait"? If you unlock a trait for a specific breed of dragon, say you got a metal trait storm, to keep with the example. You can only keep that newest bred storm dragon in the rift. No other previously bred storm dragons (i.e. a twin storm bred from the CBC) can be moved to the rift. BFS is essentially making us re-breed all 90 basic hybrids all over again in this new rift dimension and each of those 90 dragons can have 10 traits. In addition, there are now 8 new rift dragons that are trait-locked (they can only have one trait, like kampos'a trait is water), and the house mascot rift dragons, which are also trait-locked.

Somehow I screwed up and sold a newly hatched dragon that had the Rift element AFTER moving it into my regular park. I thought that the Rift element was the same as a trait, in the beginning. Now I know better. I now sell off my non-Rift version of the dragon.

When I read this I begin to think, the DV have reached a level where it's hard to understand for a foreigner. Do we now have three main different sorts of dragons - and now I don't talk about the different species.
1) normal dragon 2) twin dragon 3) dragon with a special sort of element from the rift
Could you please answer if this is a right conclusion?
I also think I have to save dragons with this special extra element to use them when breeding in the rift. Is that right? How do I see that a dragon has this special extra super plus GT element?
And the slow cooker did the job ...

I consider the rift version of a dragon a different dragon than the non rift one. So if I had a poison rift with fire trait, in my main park, I'd still keep my old plain poison dragon too. The dragonarium is inconsistent with handling these, for example the plant rift dragon is listed as it's own dragon, but the poison rift one shows under plain poison. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets changed sometime soon to add consistency.
