There are breeding hints, so theoretically they can be bred, but apparently not easily. I used all locations in both parks, including Kairos speedups and a few gem speedups, and rift breeding up to 10K, and nothing. Are they really going to be gone in just three days? There was one dragon recently whose limited timer got reset after it expired, I don't remember which one. Maybe the Mauka set expiration time got put on by mistake? Trying to be generous/hopeful about the game now... with maybe a little (hopefully productive) whine thrown in...
I was waiting to hear this before I tried my breeds for today. I knew Embossed is near impossible, if the other two are just as bad then I'll continue with Embossed today and hope that these limited dragons come back before the end. I emailed Backflip in frustration today, letting them know I'm not happy with all these short limiteds ending at the same time and costing so much.

So in three days time we have to breed and/or buy an unbreedable event dragon, a difficult-to-breed anniversary dragon with long fails, and not one but two expensive limited dragons which we only got access to today. Plus we still don't know what's coming in the second half of the event, but presumably we won't earn enough to afford them both.
It's like they can't be bothered to even put up a pretense anymore...
So I launched party plus lagoon on the island, wow breeding time 12.48 hours, a Homuhomu??? Better check the sandbox, wow, there are FIVE possible outcome with that very same time! Not going to pay gems to see what it is!
I have no words to describe how upset I am with this event and how this weekend is playing out. I realize it is just a game, but after investing almost 7 years of playing daily and generous financial support, I am just astounded. Not that it will do any good, but an email has been sent off to Backflip Studios. Frustrated and saddened at what this once charming game has become. I apologize for not showing the Aloha spirit in this instance and wish all the best of luck in the next few days!
Short term, the fact that due to buying a Hakahaka and a Palm Tree I can't afford either limited dragon is fairly frustrating. And also their breeding time crossing over with the end of Embossed's. That's fairly frustrating too. Breeding combos involving 10 element Rainbow dragons are always extremely frustrating.
Medium term, I wasn't expecting both of these dragons on the first weekend. It is invoking my 🤔 face. The Makai tier has 6 new things in it. One of those will be the Tiki Torch decoration from the app store update description. Which if the pedestals are also there like in the first tier and the limited tier, leaves room for a maximum of two more dragons there. And again from the update description there are 5 new dragons. So does that mean there's not going to be anything limited to the other weekends this event? Maybe these two will be back for them, you never know.
Long term, while my completionist tendencies are making me itch, and my fears of missing out and getting behind are starting to creep up on me, I know that I'll be able to get these through social cloning or mystery eggs at some point in the future. I got a twin Kaiju from an egg yesterday. I tried to breed one of those for two weeks during the surface event. That's not really relevant, but I guess it provides some evidence that those missed dragons will turn up... Eventually.
That's not to say that this isn't a bad move considering how short the supply of good will towards BFS is at the moment, because it is. I was rather hoping they'd take the opportunity to embrace the aloha spirit themselves in an effort to get the player base back on their side.

30,625 Flowers, by the end of the weekend for those Party in Paradise Dragons and only 14,100, the max able to earn so far. Tell me, someone please tell me, how in the name of Kairos, can we get that many Flowers before the Limitations expire? I sorta had a feeling something like this was coming.
Every ridiculously impossible circumstance they saddle us with takes me closer to Sayonara or in this case Aloha.

You know, if we change the frame; these are not the “olde style” events- no generosity, lightness, encouragement etc, so, let’s change the frame. If we consider these to be simply launches of new dragons and sometimes new decos, then if you want to let loose with completionism you can, but in full foreknowledge that you will have to pay to get there, in RL terms. This is the policy of current bfs management.
If you just consider them to be ‘fanfaire launches’ (heh, see what I did there ?😈) then there’s no disappointment: ALL the dragons continue to be available via coop or BeB and re-releases ... just look at the numbers of Party and other previously hard to get dragons as fails this time, I’m selling Zaffa’s an allll sorts!😉
So, because I still think my dragons are beautiful works of art, particularly those from the first wave of bfs staff, and I thoroughly enjoy watching them, looking at the rift versions, moving them around, decorating islands, accumulating enough to buy the next island, aaannnddd the folk in this forum, (by no means least), I’m not gonna accept the position offered by bfs current management (everything changes!) of feeling aggrieved and disappointed and allowing my enjoyment to be spoilt::: that’s actually within my control, by changing the frame 😆 This PSA from your Southern Hemisphere L’il Ray of Sunshine 🌻 🐨🐨🐨everyone!

Well, after 🍷ing, I set to work getting a Honuhonu, the one with the best Breeding Odds. Had to Feed one of the Sunscorchs up to 20 & Breed a 2nd Tidepool and Feed it up to 20. Then I had to use Kairos to empty the Nests. Had both combos going in the Cave & Sanctuary and got it on the 2nd Speed Breed in the Cave...cost me about 500 Gems altogether. Then, I started working on Humuhumu. Spent another 400 Gems getting Party & Lagoon and Speed Breeding them in the Sanctuary...finally quit Speed Breeding when I got a 28 hr fail.
I Favored the Honuhonu for my friends.
So, unless Tomorrow AND Sunday are both Double Flower days, I will still be 225 Flowers short for the remaining 2 Party in Paradise Dragons 😢

Thank you Kiwichris , this is exactly the mindset I have been struggling to attain lately with this game. You have clarified it. I really like to see my little guy burning fire but the less fun it is to get there the sadder I get with my gorgeous and oh so clever dragon buddies. I don’t like being stressed and sad in my Vale so I will decide not to be. I will be happy with the dragons who have showed up at my door requesting a home and leave a light on for those that have not yet made it to my Door. They will eventually get here.

This is exactly what I need to do in order to continue to enjoy playing Dragonvale. I don't want to feel annoyed, frustrated and badly used all the time, LOL. I mean who does? No matter how much I like the game this anger with BFS in its current incarnation will suck all the joy from my experience and I will find myself playing less and less until I wander away completely, it won't be a big slam the door decision, it will happen slowly over time without my conscious consent, it won't be a bang but a whimper. I want to take back my control and Kiwichris has the perfect answer, "change the frame". I will add one more aspect in order to make it work for me. I will no longer financially support this game in any consistent manner. BFS will be getting all the financial support they need from people who understand they must now pay to have everything in a timely manner and wish to do so. I'm not saying I won't ever make a purchase, but I will not feel obligated to support this game. The management has set themselves up to rake in the bucks from those who can afford completionism so I can feel free to just enjoy what I can get without spending real money. That will go a long way toward making me feel better when BFS makes many things in an event unattainable without spending money. It's a two tier game now and I'm quite content being on the second tier and accepting the challenge of trying to get as many of the available dragons, decos and etc as I can without spending any money.
I didn't have a Lagoon dragon in the Rift, so I started by trying to breed that -- and just got a Humuhumu from Water Rift + Nectar in the Rift.
Wow. I was going to ask if anyone had had much luck cloning them, because they've done something weird this time: effectively they've ignored what came from the epic parent, and the resulting dragons are simple rares of water/plant and water/light. If you tried to clone one (say, with a corresponding elder), you'd have FAR fewer fails and much shorter ones. Though of course the odds may be even lower than normal. If you can get it just from having the right elements, though... 🤯

In 2 of my games, I did get the reward, so they’ve fixed it. It was twins, Leathery and Pyrite. In both games I had the dragon but not the twin, since I don’t collect twins in those games

Yep, thanks cynmed , I forgot that bit; and thanks to Quil ’s explications and research, i’m Very Happy,with the extra gems every day, from NOT spending RL $ in this game anymore, and yes, like you, I don’t feel like I’m supporting a struggling new wee community game with spending RL$; so it’s all good😁
🤔 I wonder if THAT is why new BFS management made that at-first-glance odd decision, to give some rewards for tier 2 players, as you said, while the tier 1 whales and those who can afford to soothe completionist needs, use RL$ to buy, and therefore are considered by BFS not to need, daily gem rewards...
oh, and in other news; 3,count ‘em, THREE Embossed dragons IN A ROW from the Rift today: level 14 Frostfluff x level 14 lodestone ( thanks Cyn 😊) so, maybe BFS have improved the odds for the final few days? 🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨 and 🌻🌻🌴🌴🌻🌻 everyone

Finding myself agreeing 100% with all of the above ...am going to try to change my "frame of reference" in the hopes i can get back the fun & pleasure i used to experience w/this game!
Now I’m confused: I thought that when a dragon has a locked combo we couldn’t breed it with other dragons. And some valers bred a honuhonu without this locked combo... Has BFS changed the rules? 🤔
