I have blown through so many gems, it’s ridiculous. All I’m missing is the blue tendril to get Wrath. I have my Corrupticorn and Porcelain already. Bred Chimneypuff easily, and bought the Ghostly Fire outright. Breeding now for Chitin.
Should I waste candies on buying a chest from the market and hope for the best?
I’m not a fan of this event.
I was missing one piece too to get the wrath, so i spent gems, got one chest (out of 5 tries) and none of the pieces was the right one. So I spent twice candies to buy a chest and the second one was successfull and i could get the wrath. After weighing in what to do, i decided to use one f my two wishes to get a second chromacorn and as i had all necessary pieces, could get the whatever transformed dragon. In about 30 days we get another wish so ... Now to that new dragon, no success so far but we have 5 more days ....

Got the Chitin w/my Level 20 Promethium & a Friend’s Elder Metal (thank you ARTY53). The Promethium is Dark AND Metal, the Elements needed for the Chitin.
So I'm now out of gems, but have all the tendrils and ornaments. Still missing two daytime flame colors. For those buying chests with candy, are you seeing missing flames showing often too?

Wait. Breed the two chromacorns, together to get a third and fourth and then turn those in to corrupticorns. They are surprisingly easy to clone once you have two.

Good to see all the reports on chitin with just metal and dark. Breeding hint in my game shows only metal and dark symbol, but the info-button part adds earth to the combo. Confusing!
Not that anyone asked, or cares for that matter, to my recollection BFS has never asked my opinion about anything, but I don't want a ghostly version of all dragons. I am full up with twin versions and rifted versions already. Speaking of rifted and full up, why bother with so many attractive rifted versions with no way to display a goodly percentage of them. The poor things are all cramped together out sight in some dark and dreary hibernation cave. That's no way to treat a dragon!
FREE THE RIFTED DRAGONS now!!
And before you make more versions of tons of dragons with no place to let them roam free fix the rift issue. And have a plan for displaying new versions of dragons.
If you keep this trend going 75% of our dragons will be hidden dragons...literally.

Okay so when you collect all ten of a certain type of decoration(tendrils or porceline or flames) find your Love Dragon, Bone Dragon, or Chromacorn Dragon -in your park and tap on it- it will give you the option to transform it into the “new” dragon -IF you have all 10 pieces you need -and the dragon that is required - koala!

I spent about 50 gems and only hit a chest twice. Decided to buy a chest from the market, and got the last piece I needed. I now have all the evolved dragons. Hooray!

You can get a ghostly fire dragon by buying the effigy of the flame ornament in the game under the haunted category for 5500 candy. You can then evolve a fire dragon to ghostly fire. You can breed it via coop with other ghostly fires to get copies and twins. But This does NOT work for rift fire dragons, only normal fires.
There is going to be a ghostly effigy of the earth cause someone saw it in decorations and got a screenshot before backflip pulled it. Probably for next weekend. Someone got a ghostly lava as a glitched check in prize and it got busy in the coop. They announced it on the Facebook group I’m a part of. I saw one of my friends had it and got lucky. It WAS at one time available to breed with the afore mentioned ghostly fire to get a ghostly lava. I think they fixed the glitch by now. But I got a few twins in the last 24 hours it was active.
Sorry didn’t see this sooner work 12 hr shifts 2 on 2 off and every other weekend.

I've come to have a whine about not getting the evolved dragons. I've got 18 pieces in all, not a complete set of anything, and 49 extraneous duplicate pieces. Just spent a couple of hundred gems and bought two chests all to get nothing but duplicates! That's pretty rubbish odds. If someone was playing with bought gems, these dragons would cost $100 or more apiece.
And now I'm supposed to save enough candies to buy maybe 10 effigies?

Don't forget you can sell the extra pieces for 50 candy each. I did that and bought 2 chests and got 1 piece I needed. It's better than spending more gems.

Exactly the same thing happened to me! Three teal chests all at once & of course, I already had some. After that, I gave up on the dragon drop game because I kept getting duplicates. I placed one of each tendril or flame in my park, leaving the duplicates in my social list, then bought a chest with candy, got one of the ones I needed, placed it in my park, then bought another chest with candy, placed it, repeated this several times & managed to get 7 (!) of the pieces I needed. Now if I could just get a Chromacorn, my whole impression of this event might change.

Hmmm...I’ve been doing Dragon Drop Plays and I’ve found that I can hit a Chest about once every 3 to 4 Plays. Now, I’ve kept track and of the last 21 Chests, I got only one piece I needed; 20 out of 21 Chests have contained DUPS BUT, I sold those DUPS immediately. I only need 2 more Tendrils and 4 more Flames & Ornaments...I wonder if their program code looks at how many and what color pieces you have altogether, in your possession and makes its decision as to which piece to award you...🤔 You might be on to something... I’m gonna start saving my DUPS.
As for the Wheel, NONE of the extra Plays even came close to a Chest.
