So by using dragon drop when it was day, and now night, I was able to spend roughly 400 gems and get all the ornaments and all the tendrils. And I had all the flames except two day flames (orange and blue). I tried my hand at the wheel, got pretty good at hitting the chest by timing it, but was getting no luck with the flames.
I purchased a day chest for 855 candy, and it contained the orange flame. Put it out, and bought a second. It also contained an orange flame. Bought a 3rd, and I'm now complete with all decorations.
My next goal is to get a second unicorn, so I can breed more and evolve them. I have enough to buy it from the store for 10k, but I'm worried a limited will hit next weekend so I may wait. I'm not happy spending the rest of my gems on an event, and we won't talk about the 1500 I spent on the last event with 0 results, but at least I finally had some luck.
I'm crossing my fingers that they move away from this terrible gambling aspect of the game for all future events. It has gotten some terrible feedback on their social media.
Exactly the same thing happened to me! Three teal chests all at once & of course, I already had some. After that, I gave up on the dragon drop game because I kept getting duplicates. I placed one of each tendril or flame in my park, leaving the duplicates in my social list, then bought a chest with candy, got one of the ones I needed, placed it in my park, then bought another chest with candy, placed it, repeated this several times & managed to get 7 (!) of the pieces I needed. Now if I could just get a Chromacorn, my whole impression of this event might change.
Hmmm...I’ve been doing Dragon Drop Plays and I’ve found that I can hit a Chest about once every 3 to 4 Plays. Now, I’ve kept track and of the last 21 Chests, I got only one piece I needed; 20 out of 21 Chests have contained DUPS BUT, I sold those DUPS immediately. I only need 2 more Tendrils and 4 more Flames & Ornaments...I wonder if their program code looks at how many and what color pieces you have altogether, in your possession and makes its decision as to which piece to award you...🤔 You might be on to something... I’m gonna start saving my DUPS.
As for the Wheel, NONE of the extra Plays even came close to a Chest.
I have kept all of my duplicates (just to depress myself really) and I still have been getting just more duplicates
I have all ten porcelain colors and I just got my Bone dragon maxed but the evolve button is dark and doesn’t work.
I also have two Elder Fire dragons and I bought the decoration to evolve it to the Ghostly Fire dragon and again it isn’t possible.
Also I have found only about 3 pumpkins and I have never ever seen Whitby anywhere.
I have only gotten one free chest from spinning the wheel and bought the others.
I feel my game is broken, please help. Thanks
Did you place all ten pieces on islands and move the dragon you want to evolve into a habitat? Also, the evolve button doesn’t really turn into the light grey style of other buttons once it’s available, you should try to click it, and then it will prompt you to pay the 1000 candy, and you should be able to evolve it (once the decorations are out of your social menu and the bone/love dragon is out of hibernation).
I really find the chitin dragon repulsive. That one and the cave dragon are very visually unpleasant to me. Trying to push past it though, but it turns my smile into a frown every time I come across chitin in its habitat. When I get a rift version I'm going to leave it in the hibernation cave.
I dragged my fountain of youth out of storage and put chitin in it. Hopefully that will help. It's hard to find a baby repulsive.

Joanne check if the dragon is available, ie some transformations are to be made at "DV night" and some on "DV day" DV day is when it rains and rains and rains. And also make sure you have the 10000 candies needed to "pay" for the transaction.

I was having the same problem but LSnake reminded me that after you choose the evolve button, you have to select the dragon from the list (even though there is only one dragon.) Just something else to try.

I'm baby-fying all my Chitin dragons. I'm afraid that if I don't, those dragons will give me nightmares. The plant-trait Chitin dragon looks radioactive, and usually I LIKE plant traited dragons best of all. For me, the baby isn't scary, so I hope you have the same result I did.

Chitin at least has the whole "I am dangerous, spiky, and definitely toxic; don't mess with me" cool-tough look going on. Cave looks like it woke up, saw itself in a mirror and hasn't stopped screaming since. #relatable, I guess? :/

This event is very unkind to new/young players who probably don't have a lot of gems to sacrifice. I hope that the powers that be are comfortable with the fact that they are probably robbing the piggy banks of little kids:((

Good gawd, posting as a guest backfired - it was way more time consuming than just taking a second to sign in, lol! It's been a while, glad my password was saved.
We've been having wifi issues (including no service for almost 2 months. ugh), so I haven't been keeping up with my game as much, or with the forum. I think we should be okay long enough for me to finish out this event. I hope.
I guess I've been doing okay with this event. Kinda. But, overall, I am really not impressed with the changes to past few events- what little I saw of them. I did breed the turtle and clone the shark from the last event, so that was good. I love the turtle guy.
This time, I've managed to breed a rifted Chimneypuff and a regular Chitlin, so Yay! But those stupid, gem-sucking decos are *killing* me. What a dumb concept. Well... it's short-term good for the people trying to extract all the money from your pocket, but a dumb, raw deal for the customers. Anyhoo, I only need the green wrath tendril to complete that set and have gotten soooooo many repeats (just like everyone else and their missing pieces). It's infuriating. The flames and fans aren't going as well, only have 3 or 4 of each of those and, at this point, am having problems even caring about that. I do wnt to finish the tendrils since I'm so close.
I refuse to spend money on more gems to play Dragon Drop in the hopes of hitting the chest, and then hoping it's not another 3 repeats (which, it will be). And all the times I've paid the 5 gems for another round and there was no chest to be won. Grrrrrr. It's gambling. I had no problem supporting the game before, when it was straight-forward purchases to get the dragon or item I wanted ... but things have changed. Dumping money into an RNG is Fudge. From here on out, each day I'm only going to spend the gems I earned that day, and that is it.

PSA: Most of the time I don't even bother to play my freebie wheel spins, but today I opened it up and saw a chest sitting there. Not wanting to waste it, I decided to wait until night to see if it would transfer to the dragon drop, and sure enough it was there when I came back later.
So, like in previous events, if you're granted a chance at a chest you can take it in whichever game you prefer; you just may have to wait a few hours to do it.
(BTW, is it just me, or have chests been showing up on free spins/drops a lot more often than they were a few days ago? I had scarcely seen any for the whole event, and now suddenly I'm getting a few a day [across 4 parks].)
