All I can say that at this point I am totally discouraged. There is NO way to acquire all the dragons in the allotted time. This used to be fun and I always made sure I made a purchase or two as a thank you to those that created this game. No more. I will spend no more money here. Playing has becomes fustrating and not worth my time.
We used to get neat decorations, and some nice dragons now? I feel it’s become just “give us your money and we will give you access to the same stuff we have offered in the past and a rehashing of the same dragons you have, and btw, we will make sure you will never get them all”.
Why don’t you just be done with it and make duplicates of ALL the dragons in a ghostly version, how about a Christmas version? Oh and you could rehash them again for New Years, valentines, st paddy’s day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving.....

Update on my experiment of using no gems or event currency for the decorations. I am at 17/30.
I am guessing we will get another golden hybrid limited today. Maybe Dark/Light? 🤔
Has anyone been able to breed Omen or Nightbloom rifts this time around? I got Spirit rift on day one or two and besides the new Spooky limiteds nothing else...
This is interesting. I have had chests available in my free game attempts exactly three times since the event began. Once was the first day, once was after a few days of not using gems because I had let myself get carried away and run my store right down, and once was today, after three days of not spending gems because I'd decided not to. That's the availability, not the chests I actually got. I managed to land on my first free chest today and got three duplicates. When I compare that to the number of opportunities you have had to get chests, I wonder if spending gems stops you getting free chests just as spending money stops you getting free gems through advertising.
I had been spending 10 to 20 gems a day to buy new attempts. I think now I'll just concentrate on building up my gem store and maybe have another splurge just before the event finishes.

I wish the adults would take back over. Something changed and the attitude now seems to be I am nothing more than a wallet. It’s really not a nice feeling.
I don't know if I'm going to buy the effigies. They do keep on coming though, now the effigy of frost. I guess all of them will turn up eventually. I certainly don't need another fire or earth dragon, ghostly or not, ditto for the rest of the primary dragons. And I certainly don't need more glacier, mountain, lava and obsidian dragons. I'm fairly certain it isn't going to stop there either. What to do with these low earning dragons? Poor things, they are going to be relegated to obscurity and by sheer necessity will be forced to spend their days in storage. I don't even like to do that to furniture, but it's particularly disturbing to do it to dragons. And they get all depressed spending their days in hibernation, no sunshine, no blue sky , no harvest moon or stars to gaze at, no tiptoeing through the tulips or rolling around in the grass...but what choice do I have if I decide to go the effigy route. Darn you BFS, have you no shame?
My way of dealing with the effigies & evolving dragons that I don’t really care about & don’t have room for, is to ignore them completely. I gave up being a completionist a long time ago. This game is supposed to be fun & not an additional source of stress in my life. Someday, if the attitude BFS seems to have adopted towards its players, changes, maybe then it will be fun again. I miss the old BFS. I guess they spoiled us. I liked it.
Am I right in thinking you can evolve a Fire Dragon to Ghostly, but not evolve the Pedestal? For the Ghostly pedestals, you need to either buy them, or fluke breeding a ghostly fire, I guess through Ghostly Fire + Fire?
There is no option to evolve a pedestal. I have been breeding ghostly fire and ghostly earth and have gotten nothing but regular dragons.
Ghostly Fire with a friend's Ghostly Fire got me a second and egg fairly quickly. 5 minute fails. I got lucky with Earth and got one the first try with 2 earth ones.
Breeding through the 15k attempts, still not been able to get a rift Chitin. One day left now, but I really wanted to use this time to try for a Chromacorn. I just figured the unicorn was so unlikely that I'd be better off trying for Chitin. Guess I was wrong, both are terrible!
I got rift chitins breeding for chromacorn... chromo and chromo in one park, rainbow and double rainbow in the other park
Stupid drop game keeps spawning my premium currency-bought chest in the one or two spots that are functionally impossible to get without fluke luck. /tableflip
I did finally get the last of the nighttime whale bait decorations the other day so there's that (did the love->wrath thing, woo?), and I only need two more for the corrupticorn so looks burning a wish on a second one (I now have three because that's how these things work...) won't be wasted. Between the chests being jerks and me managing to get the physics engine to wig out on me when I caught the bouncy ball at just the wrong angle/velocity/whatever such that the ball stuttered in place before stuttering backwards into the wrong slot (basically slow-mo bouncing off literally nothing) I'm done for the night though. <-<
Kiwi Chris is not the only one who's decided to make their own rules for how they play Dragonvale.
I feel quite liberated since deciding I'm no longer going to chase each and every dragon. Nearly seven years now, and every event I've contributed cash to buy whatever the event currency was, being happy to support Backflip for providing such an enjoyable and rewarding game.
I used to collect pedestals, but found that added such stress after trying to breed two of each dragon. So one day I sold off all the pedestals except the ones I found attractive, and have never regretted that move.
I've bought a couple of the new dragons each event and managed to coop breed others, and every now and again my dragonarium breathes fire and I feel pleased.
But things have changed. Having spent several hundred gems in pursuit of one piece which finally enabled me to transform one dragon, I refuse to use more resources to win just one more duplicate to add to the crowd I have. I've sold off many of those and purchased a cask - which just replaced one I'd just sold.
Now we have what looks like a long line of yet more dragons to be transformed and collected. Not even dragons I like much - so they would be doomed to be merely dropped down the slippery slope into the dungeon with over 300 others.
The pressure is off. I no longer need to see my dragonarium sparkling. I no longer spend money for candies or whatever, and feel no need to breed or transform ugly dragons.

Why is everyone so depressed? If you wait about a month these dragons might be in the mystery egg and you could still get them. As for the 3 “new” dragons, idk. And someone posted the ghostlys already.
In all 5 of my games, the log-in day-chest reward was a duplicate piece for Porcelain, even in the games with few pieces. Part of what I used to love about DragonVale was that if I gathered the collective wisdom on how to play an event or breed a dragon and plugged away, I’d get what I was going for. It was lovely to feel like a winner so often. The last few events have left me feeling like a chump, not a winner...

If enough people figure this out or read about it, try it in their park and see it in action for themselves, it would cut down significantly on the amount of real money people will be willing to spend on this game. It's like your paying to make it more difficult for yourself. I would think even whales might find this off putting. On paper it sounds like BFS is shooting themselves in the foot. And they certainly are, however, they won't be the only casualty.If most people stop spending money on Dragonvale ultimately that will kill the game, since making money for the corporation is the whole point. But if spending money makes the game harder, it's not logical to spend money. Therefore it's more of a collective foot shooting. Everybody ends up limping. But that's carrying all this to it's logical conclusion and that is rarely how things go. But just in case logic makes a comeback, it won't end well for BFS. Maybe some people can call it supporting a game they love and still throw money at BFS even though it will make gameplay more difficult for them. Maybe. But I won't be one of those people.

I am kicking myself for using 2 wishes for chromacorns 😢 I have only a few candy corns left bc I bought so many useless duplicate chests. Shame on you BFS! You managed to almost deplete my gems (1200 gems spent playing games for chests). I’m still not giving you a dime! I’ll quit or change my strategy to “ I don’t care about your new dragons” before you see a penny from me. It’s amazing how many long time loyal players they have upset. The millennials must have taken over BFS.

Picked up in Rift for all three parks. Metal align, and took 5 to 10 tries. At least this was easy. Opps. 😱 Do you think BFS heard that?
Lucky you. My rift was awash in Scoria dragons, with only a couple of Iron dragons to relieve the tedium. I always hate it when Backflip releases a dragon with the same timer as another dragon with the same elements. If my rift breeding today is any indication, they’ve jiggered the odds to greatly favor Scoria. 🙄

I got all excited until I realized that Scoria has the same breeding time as Auroch. Not tempted to spend gems to speed up cause I'm kind of buying into the spending gems theory posted previously:)
