Will we be able to elolve the first three after the event is over if we have all the pieces collected? I've got all the pieces but have yet to get my second Chromocorn.

I'll be the first to admit that this is in many ways a bad idea, but...for those who have all the Day Chest ornaments and flames, if you continue to play the mini-game, and even pay gems to get attempts at a chest, every extra dupe you rack up can be sold for candies to go towards effigies or whatever else you still need, including Night Chests. Basically it's a way of converting gems to candies (as if we hadn't done enough of that this event!) without having to give BFS real money, which I know many of us refuse to at this point,
Also, if you're down to needing only one item from a Night Chest, it's worth waiting to see what you get from the freebie in a couple days before spending more candies on them. You can always buy more chests afterwards, but there's a chance that chest will have exactly what you need.
I think I remember an event where the price of treats were half. Anyone else? Or should I spend my 30B DC and feed everyone now?
The Thanksgiving event will be coming up soon, and historically that has included Fiery Figs for advanced players, and two cheaper items for "younger" parks. I don't remember what the cost ratios are, but they're a much better deal than the food we can usually grow - I've been saving up my own cash for months to splurge on them.
To be fair, one might reasonably doubt that BFS would actually do anything to benefit players these days, but the code is already written, so it's cheaper for them to use it than to come up with new ways to bleed us dry. I'm sure they're saving that for the Christmas event... </cynicism>
Three identical (useless) items from one drop chest followed right after by that 1% chance of no chest. Yup, done for the night. (Only one away from Porcelain and Corrupticorn both though...)

This event was pretty low-key for me, and I was only out 200-300 gems trying to get the conjuring pieces, and out 1 wish for another chromacorn and ~9000 candies to get the pieces I couldnt get in the drop/spin games. The new golden limiteds came pretty easily so far. That said I am finding it impossible to get a rift!love or rift!bone and I haven’t been able to breed for the limited epics that are available in the rift, and I caved and bought the egg pedestals.
I kinda think the ability to get chests in regular drop/spin gameplay has to do with the punishment for spending money thing. I’ve spent nothing and got chests on the free plays 6 or 7 times.
I don’t care about the haunted dragons at all, but I did buy the ghostly fire effigy. I still don’t like this event. The release of the haunteds kinda pissed me off. I liked it when playing diligently meant you would be able buy everything with event currency. I’d go back to farming if that was the case.

I sent an email to Backflip Support asking about evolving the dragons after the event ends and about the number of "new" dragons in this event and I'm not sure if the response made me feel better or worse about the event and Backflip in general.
We'll be able to evolve the dragons after the event ends, but it'll cost gems instead of candies. I kine of figure that would be the case, so I'm not to surprised. That being said, given the way the costs are going lately, I wonder how many gems it'll cost...
Backflip: "As long as you have the Effigy of the Flame or Effigy of the Ground you will be able to evolve Ghostly Fire and Ghostly Earth Dragons after the event has ended. Please note that this will cost Gems rather than Candy, but I do not have an exact cost at this time."
Then I asked about there being 9 new dragons so far for this event and that's the response that disappointed me in Backflip. The patch notes said there would be "three new hybrid dragons" for this event, but according to support, that only refers to the dragons that are released at the start of the event. The other dragons (Chimneypuff, Chitin, and the four Ghostly dragons) were deliberately left off the patch notes. So we don't actually have any way to guess how many more "new" dragons will be released as part of this event. For me, this really seems like they were trying to be deceitful and pressure players to spend gems/money to get candies because there is no way to know how much "new" stuff there will be as the event progresses. Up until now, I've been trying to think well of Backflip, but this admission has me wondering if it's time to stop giving the the benefit of the doubt...
Backflip: "The App Store description is referring to the Wrath, Porcelain, and Corrupticorn Dragons. The others were not available at the start of the event and not announcing them in the patch notes was intentional."
I believe the cost will be 100 gems to evolve a dragon. When the event started, there was an error in the popup when evolving, asking if you wanted to spend the 100 gems but showing candy on the button. It was fixed quickly. Of course this may change. We don't know how we're going to get missing decorations for evolving after the event, unless they're not needed if you go the gem route.
They almost always do limited dragons during an event, on average two. They've technically added 4 (ghost fire/earth and the two golden hybrids) and we may get a 5th hybrid. At least the hybrids can easily be bred, which is not always true of their limited. The two ghost dragons have to be purchased at a high cost, which isn't ideal. The Lava and Obsidian are not really meant to be purchased, but instead bred from the two basic ghosts.
The real issue is how Backflip is handling the gambling aspect of the event, with the massive gem cost for decorations to evolve dragons. To top it off, they're not even telling us the odds for each piece where as every other 'random' game is required to show us the odds of each attempt. They usually hide it in a few small and hard to see icon, but it's there for every other game I play now except DV. They should also be telling us the odds of every dragon breed when we put two dragons together.
We did not need an event that decimated our gem stashes immediately following the Aloha event that also ate heavily into our gems. I spent 1500 gems during Aloha speeding up breeds, and ended up not breeding a single event dragon. I had almost nothing left for this new event. If I had seen that the odds of getting an Aloha dragon cloned was .001 percent (we have no idea the percent), I would have just saved my gems.
TL;DR - The email from Backflip only refers to the Ghostly dragons, but Quil is saying the 3 new event dragons had the text about paying gems rather than candies, so it seems likely they are also included.
Edited to add: Also, I'll probably be doing this myself - if I'm to get any effigies at all, I need to save all my candies, which means not evolving even the dragons I have the decorations and spare copies for.

Do you all think another limited dragon (or other new item) has yet to be released?
Trying to decide if I should buy the last Effigy. Got the first two, have managed to breed the limiteds, and already have all the old dragons. I'm just scared if I spend today, a new 8000-candy something will turn up in the Shop on Monday. Ugh. But, if I am going to get the Cold Effigy, I should do it today so there is time to try and breed the hybrids for free. The coop has been giving me bupkis.
Also, the timer on the ghost dragons is 9+ days, but the event is over before then. Wonder what that means?
My rule has always been Infrastructure before Dragons. Dragons can always be bred but Infrastructure sometimes costs prohibitively after the event (up until now that is...Gosh knows these days...) I am going for all the effigies and worry about breeding the motley crew later.

So keep the 30 relevant pieces, sell all the spares before event ending to acquire additional candies, and wait until I can hopefully produce a additional Chromo and evolve it then?
Do you think those that were not fortunate in acquiring the pieces will be able to evolve the initial 3 dragons later?

No one knows, except Backflip. I imagine you'll be able to buy the decorations for gems (and not a small amount of gems) during BeB. Then if you have the pieces, you would be able to evolve a dragon for another 100 gems anytime. That's all speculation, they may remove the need for decorations and just make it a cost to evolve them . Or it may not be possible again until a future event or BeB allows it. Everything has always come back again at some point, so I expect this will be no different, we just don't know the mechanics. This stuff is all new.

Thank you so much, that is an excellent point. I'm going to go ahead and buy the cold effigy. Any (potential) new limiteds I can always get during future BEBs, and I would be kicking myself if these Effigies are needed for something else down the line.
There is so much going on with the event, it's been difficult to pick (or stick with) a direction. Normally, I also prioritize infrastructure over everything else, but I got bogged down in the scattered nature of this event.

I didn't like many things with this event. I do like the idea of transforming one Dragon to another, and would have liked that to continue instead of adding the ghostly dragons. That being said, I spent over 600 gems and purchased several summoning chests (I refuse to spend more) and still do not have a white flame to complete the group to evolve chromacorn. I am officially whining and hoping the wizards will work their magic on tomorrow's gift of a summoning chest. One more whine.... I still can't breed a second Love in the rift. It's nice of them to give us several extra days to breed the ghostly dragons. If I receive a white flame from tomorrow's chest, I hope to purchase a chromacorn to evolve, then the only thing I'm missing is a love to evolve. That's my whine..... Koala to everyone. Hopefully you will get the last items you need tomorrow.
