I got a summoning chest of night as my last gift in the hall of hallows. The pink flame is my final piece, i have all the others. Unfortunately that's a day piece. I wish I could give my chest to someone who needs night pieces. Oh well, at least it's 150 more candies.
My mistake. It's only 50 candies. I forgot there's only one piece in a summoning chest. Even worse than I thought. What a rather underwhelming final gift. Remember the days when we would get event dragons for final gifts. Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end... Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone, they paved paradise and put up a parking lot. Apparently I'm just going to quote song lyrics. No original thoughts, I guess I'm speechless at how things have gone in my favorite game.
Pretty sure we have 4 more days to collect candy??? Want to make sure to sell all of my extra pieces and buy at least one spooky habitat before time runs out.
I would have spent some gems on dragon drop for night pieces like I did for day, but that's gone, and so I'm just going to shrug and say OH WELL.
And now we have multiple new last minute ghost dragons, low breeding odds for any of them, the lack of space... it's not fun. Not sure how much longer I'll play.
Just a thought: the time limit on all those ghosty things is only set for purchasing them with candies. If you have the basis 3 ones, earth, fire, ice, you should be able to continue breeding for the there, without time limit. What is you ur opinion on this theory?
I think Rare Limited Ghostly versions of Limiteds that require Rare Limited Ghostly versions of Hybrids that require Limited Ghostly versions of Basics that require Limited Event Decorations to evolve from basics using Event Currency is the most ridiculous thing I've seen in this game and I think only the sunk cost fallacy is stopping me from saying, welp, DV has jumped the shark, time to stop playing. I liked the Rift. I hate this in every way.
I'll be over here in the corner crying as I haven't managed to breed even any of the Ghostly Hybrids yet. This is a nightmare. Happy Halloween.
Ha ha ha ha POTM! This is so true, this really is beyond ridiculous. Thanks for the combos, they even changed those.
Dear Arkynos Just wanted to make clear that your explanations on how to get the Ghostly dragons were what made me laugh, as farfetched as they are, simply makes them ridiculous. What I don’t find funny is that you really want to quit the game. So do I and a lot of people. They are simply ruining this game we have loved for years, that is really sad. I am seriously thinking about quitting, this game has just turned into mad money grab, over the top, nu rules, gambling bullshit, I can find that elsewhere if I choose to. Used to be a relaxing game, not so much anymore.
Don’t cry, I hope you get some of the Ghostlies. Even though they are making it as impossible as they can, since we have to have two of everything now to get anything as it seems. At least different Ghostlies can breed if anything is available. Still think that is a crappy rule to enforce, like in the old days, when you had to have two of each dragon.
I don’t like what this game is turning into and frankly it just puts me more in a bad mood these days, than anything else. Why bother playing then? That is a good question.

Don’t like the ghostly’s, for all the myriad reasons so beautifully explicated by many Valers So, not gonna play them! Just Not letting BFS ruin my enjoyment of this game and this forum: I decide which dragons I like and want to breed A different approach, along with cecilia attheduckpond 😊 No ghostly’s in my park, no stress, still happily playing game I love 😄
I guess it’s easier, not being a completionist, I mean, I only noticed by accident that my statue was flaming one day (yea, in the distant past), and that was easy to resist as an incentive to gamble, and Quil ’s pickup on being deprived of free daily gems if I spend RL$ cured me, hallelujah 🤗
Koala to everyone, genuinely, to find your own new approach/balance/new goals in this game, and I hope everyone sticks around....

Warning, there is a rant coming, like it or not. The whole gaming industry is basically ruined, because of money greed. I can hardly find a game I like playing anymore because of microtransactions. On console or wherever, doesn’t matter. Every single game I used to love is tainted by this. Dragonvale. Grand Theft Auto. Grand Theft Auto Vice City was a fun game, you could steal a car in 3 seconds and you were off. Grand Theft Auto V, ugh takes you 30+ seconds and your guy is so slow he doesn’t even do anything you tell him to. Games today are slower, more boring and seem to be all about scenery, like Dragonvale is becoming. If everything takes long enough and doesn’t work out, then the players will get tired and buy the whatever currency.
This seems to be the new policy today when making games. I am not buying into it, will just rather quit those games and drag out my old Playstation 2 from the closet if need be. For Ipad games, I have to say, there is just nothing left.

I can't believe my good fortune! I tried a few times for the limited Auroch and after three or four tries I saw this.
Hope this offers a little encouragement for those of you who are still trying. It is possible to breed these things, it just takes a little patience and lûck.

We share our physical lives with those in spirit. For life, like love, never dies. Love knows no limits, not even death.

I hope you’re right. I didn’t read it that way. The only thing I could confirm is that once you have the effigies, you can continue to evolve the three basic dragons but after the event it will cost gems rather than candies to evolve them. The ability to breed the other ghosties has been extended beyond the end of the event...that’s the countdown timer. They all have the limited hourglass. Like I said, I hope you’re right.

They all have limited timers showing as the green hourglass. When the timer goes, you won't be able to breed any of them without cloning. At the rate I'm seeing fails with my Cold and Earth, there's almost no chance I'll be seeing more than maybe one of these new dragons, let alone all of them, before they go away.

Yeah, I was presuming it was the ridiculous spiel you found funny, though as I am a large adult man, I would also have agreed that the idea of me actually being curled up in a corner crying over virtual dragons is inherently humourous. In reality, my reaction was basically this. And I think your hope may have gotten through somehow, as there are two ghostly eggs in my game orbiting their nest slots in a way that makes me question how exactly being there is helping them incubate. Bone and... Glacier I think.
It has been an immensely frustrating event after a recent run of other events that have been disappointing at best. I am going to give BFS another chance, but join several others here in voting with my wallet and withholding any in app purchases until they have earned back the good will I held previously.
Unlike the evolved dragons (including ghostly fire/cold/earth), the ghostly hybrids seem to be clonable from a single parent. So hopefully people on my friend list will pick up the others which I will definitely miss because there's just so many of them. This inevitably brings me back round to that long overdue in game friending system that doesn't exist but should. That'd really make this so much easier. We could post which ones we have available, share and organise so between us they're all covered. Oh well... 😔

Yeah they are clonable but only because they are available, after that you will probably need one of each kind to clone them, right? Or am I misunderstanding something? Which almost makes it impossible, unless your friend has everything too. Yes, I totally agree, a shame they still haven’t come up with a friending system within the game, all other games have that. This virtually makes it impossible for me to get any dragons after events, since I need a friend that has everything too.

This just shows that you are a real man with real feelings, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, not me or any other douchebags. I also cry over virtual dragons.... shhhhhh...
As I see more and more ghostly dragons litter my Backflip news, I feel so happy that I decided NOT to buy any of the effigy thingies and turn my back on a whole dungeon oveflowing potential of ghostly versions of the dragons that already live down in the dungeon because I don't find them attractive.
I shall buy the extra spooky habitats - one at the moment and the last one IF I have enough currency by the end of the event.
This is the first event in the whole seven (?) years that I haven't spent any real money. However, I do now resent the 1000+ gems I squandered trying to acquire the flamey, twirly, fan shaped whatzits, so I could change a dragon that already looked OK to me. So my lone Porcelain won't have any changeling companions, and my dragonarium won't be sparkly, but the calm of playing the game to my own rules, and the camaraderie of this forum will keep me coasting along until BFS realises it didn't work in Dragonvale World and is not working in our dear old Dragonvale.
Don’t some of these also need to be bred at night (I’m thinking Nosferatu)?
Regular Nosferatu does, but Ghostly Nosferatu has no such time requirement. Which while it is admittedly a bit odd, I'm not complaining; these are annoying enough to breed as is.

I never know quite how to phrase this, the terminology is particularly confusing, but no - in general you can parent-clone expired limiteds. Full, unnecessary explanation below.
First, an example: My Elder Water + a friend's Honuhonu let me breed a Honuhonu a few days ago, long after the event it came from ended. The odds are awful (especially compared to like+like cloning) but it does allow you to breed unavailable dragons if you missed them but a friend has one blue-hearted, so I guess I shouldn't complain.
This has always applied to Epics - we used to call it 'Epic Cloning', but it was changed in the last few years to apply to other dragons too. The rule is, specifically: if you could at some point breed this dragon here, you can get another if you use one as either parent.
There are a few categories of dragons with quirks to watch out for, though. - Gemstones/Crystallines: Most of the time cannot be used to breed. Can parent-clone during the Shimmering Solstice. - Rift Specials: Still can't be bred outside the Rift. Can parent-clone in the Rift breeding cave, but not the others. - New! Evolved Dragons: Don't have a proper breeding combo. Can normal (like+like) clone anywhere, but can't parent-clone. - Anything not yet properly released: BFS temporarily turned parent cloning off for Humu/Honu after they were accidentally made available at the start of the Party in Paradise event.
Practical uses are of course to Social-Parent-Clone from friends if you missed a dragon, or to Normal-Parent-Clone or even Rift-Parent-Clone dragons you only have one of for seconds and eggs. It really is all a bit of a mouthful, isn't it? I'd love suggestions if anyone has better ideas for the terminology here.
