I’d like to clarify a couple points for players on how the Dear Deca project and the Wizards' Idea Collective document works on the Forum.
• If you have fun, imaginative ideas for the game that are not meant for Deca, please post them on the WIC document.
• If you have suggestions that can possibly be implemented in the game, and you’d like them to be passed on to Deca, post them on this thread. Once there’s a sufficient number, I’ll compile all the requests and submit them to Deca.
• Forum members can certainly put their Dear Deca requests on WIC, but unless Worms, the Forum member, or I post it on this thread, it will not be relayed to Deca. So members may need to double-check this thread to be sure their idea has been posted at some point.
• WIC will help reach players who are not on the Forum, or have problems or difficulties using the Forum.
• To make this 'Dear Deca' project work, everything needs to be in one place. Since I don’t have the time (or energy) to search through every DV community for various suggestions, requests must be on this thread to be considered. Usually, players don’t mind making the minor effort of posting here for Deca, but many players do not use the Forum.
• Please remember that submitted ideas may not be implemented in the game. It’ll be up to Deca to decide if a suggested concept helps the game, is economically feasible for them to add, works within their time constraints, and is beneficial for them as well as all players.

There is one big issue in the game currently, and that is the unknown constant of caps.
One event, we may buy unlimited shipwreck decorations. The next, for all we know, it might be limited to three.
This is unacceptable. People build their islands and event budget around price and accessibility. There needs to be a workaround, such as wishes for decorations being able to go over cap. As a bare minimum. Even this solution comes at great and unnecessary expense to players. Currently, this issue, however, is completely unaddressed.

In my humble opinion, low caps should be abolished. It's nonsensical to put a cap at 2, 3, or exactly 4 decorations. Who decides that? Why limit the players creativity in such a way for nothing?
I understand if you don't want us to place 80 of a RAM heavy object, but considering how many RAM heavy objects we *can* place 400 of... this explanation is an excuse at best due to the uneven implementation of the feature. There is nothing good that comes from these caps.
It's even worse when they're changeable at any time, forcing players to hoard to work around it. I could /not/ keep x amount of a fence type, a cheap object. But what if I can only have 20 tomorrow, officially? It doesn't matter how much it costs when the powers that be are changing the laws on a whim.

I've added a small paragraph on the doc linking back to this thread and hopefully explaining the differences well enough 🙂

Thank you so much, Worms! It looks fantastic! I added your post and the Wizards’ Idea Collective to the first post in this thread so it doesn’t get lost. 😊

Every time, some people miss their chance to claim their eggs from the runic breeding caves in time. Others, somehow manage to never pick the right dragons to rift.
How about we put an end to that?
Instead of storing egg charges in runic breeding caves, introduce a building where eggs can be claimed all year round -- provided you've unlocked the dragon.
That is a lovely thought, but not very practical from Deca's point of view. Many people purchase Rune Stones so that they can claim 10 dragons at the end of the event.
If players could select any of the dragons they had bred in the Runic Caves (including twins, traited or pedestals) all year round there would be no need to purchase Rune Stones during a similar event. Deca's income would take a huge hit and they might find they can no longer keep DragonVale viable.
I had 15-20 dragons that I bred in the Runic Caves that I would love to have been able to collect - either a twin or a traited version. Where is the challenge if I can collect them 'whenever'. My Dragonarium would be breathing blue fire without too much effort on my part.
Deca have started putting a warning up for when the Runic Caves are leaving. Yes, some players always miss out on claiming their dragons. It is unfortunate, but I can't see an easy way round this that will work for everyone.
adlerist puts a post on the event thread warning players when the Runic Caves are leaving. There are posts all over Reddit telling players to collect from their Runic Caves, but still some miss out.
That may hold true for people who buy 10 caves, but the vast, vast majority of players does not.
Consequently, the transferable charges can simply be limited to the free ones. I know few people who've played dragonvale since year 1 who are still present for every event.
Unbalanced for ancient whales, necessary for normal players who spend a month breeding in the rift to once again not get half of the event parents.
While we're at it, I would also keep the storage cap for this building relatively low. Say, 3 eggs. That's enough to get around rifting one dragon within the next half year, plus a twin.
You shouldn't be able to hoard your egg claims. Just make your game less frustrating. It's essentially wishes, except useable to rift dragons.
(Because wishes are more powerful and can unlock new dragons altogether, wishing for rifted variants is wasteful. However, a new building which stocks charges does not have such problems.
Options of implementation are diverse. Examples: -- it costs real money to store charges. -- charges lose power in 10 days. This feature is now mainly meant for players who were stopped from claiming eggs. (Or unsure which dragons to pick for the next event!). -- all charges can be stored in the new building. However. You can only claim a dragon every x months, consuming a charge.)

It appears the Display Realm idea that was suggested and supported on the Dear Deca thread has somewhat come true in the form of the Megatat!
I don’t know if decorations can be placed on it, but dragons can certainly reside there, so that should help alleviate some of the dragon display issues that players repeatedly complain about.
Thank you, singleimage, Kiwichris, mishkasmom, and ladyj, for the Display Realm suggestion and support! And thank you Deca Games for the new types of islands and expanding DragonVale in such creative ways!
There could also be another dimension for a different park like how the Rift is different from the vale. It would be another new park we can get habitats for and it’s connected to the vale and rift and we can put vale and Rift dragons in it. It could be simple no breeding caves it’s just used to decorate and keep dragons. That would get your dragons out so you can display them all.
Ooo I like that idea; kinda like turning your horses out to pasture 😄 that would def interest me, and I’d happily spend on decos and islands for the ‘display only’ realm !
Count me in on the idea of having a “display only” realm. Decorating my park is what drew me to the game to start with & is still my favorite park of the game. As the game has gotten more complex, I find it more frustrating & I already have enough frustration in my RL. In fact as I think about it, I Ike the idea more & more.
Me too! I am actually so thankful for this break that I can take time to do some cleaning up. I don’t like to crowd everything on an island, so I don’t have my max number of habitats. The thing is, once I have decorated an island, they come up with new dragons, and I have to think of how to accommodate them, which ended up having to redecorate again. Yes, I have a little OCD. 😬 So yes, I vote for a “display realm”!

Wishing for a traited dragon is not a waste. It’s one of the most requested features. Many players would’ve wished for a traited Eldritch or traited Snowflake 7 so they could’ve bred Kage and Elkar in the Rift.
It’s no different than wishing for a twin dragon, which we can do right now. You may not use a wish on a twin or traited dragon, and that’s perfectly fine, but you might change your mind if you start collecting twins and traited dragons.
I’ve combined your posts because they’re all about the same idea. Let’s try to reduce the number of posts on this thread so it’s not a lot of work to compile everything. No spamming please.

As MinyaZ pointed out, your idea would make the game too easy and DECA would lose money, so there’s not much chance it would work. Your suggestion is more wishful and pie in the sky so it’d be a better fit for the WIC document instead.
If you want to expand, discuss, or post about your idea more, please edit your original post. Thank you very much!

Excuse me, but I'll have to 100% disagree on that. The chance of obtaining a dragon is simply not comparable to a guaranteed egg. It's like wishing for 3000 lottery tickets when you could just have the full prize.
I'm not willing to hand my email address out to any site -- that's how you get non stop spam calls.
If one guaranteed rifted dragon every 6 months is pie in the sky and will bankrupt DECA, I fear for the worst in how long DV will run.

every 6 months
Actually, that doesn't sound horrible, especially since it's impossible to get traited versions of the new releases that remain throughout the event, outside of incredibly lucky EoMs after the event or events with RBCs, until they next show up, which would likely be a year later. So even with this added feature being 6 months in between you'd have to wait a year and a half to get all three traited, and by that point they'll have shown up again (hopefully!).
Though in all honesty I'm still not sure DECA would consider that whole new feature over what's already been requested (i.e. being able to wish for traited dragons).

You can disagree, but many players have requested the ability to wish for a traited dragon. Not everyone can be wrong. The great thing about DV is you can collect what you want and have your own goals. There’s no right or wrong way to play.
1. You can use a throwaway anonymous email when you sign up to be a forum member. There are lots of sites that offer this service.
2. ProBoards and the forum does not send you spam. I’ve had my account for years, and have not received any new spam. And there haven't been any complaints from other ProBoards’ forums about spam.
3. But if you’re really concerned about spam, use a throwaway account.

It would be a nice feature to be able to see how long ago our friends were last active so we know who is still playing or not.
I like the idea-right now we just have the little dot next to our profile to tell if your friend is online, was recently online, or offline. However, I do think having a time saying when they were last online would be a nice feature.
Another feature I would like to see is to be able to nickname your friends. This would be for convenience, or to prevent confusion for friends that may have the same ID prefix. These set nicknames only shown on your park only, and would not mess with the other's in-game name.
For example, I have a few friends that share the same ID prefix. All of my four parks have the ID of Demuncher#..., I am friends with both Rysaroni 's alt and main park which have the same prefix of Rys#..., and I have a couple of friends with the defaulted DragonVale#... prefix. Sometimes it's difficult, especially when they have the same/similar icons, to figure out who is who.
Similarly to the nicknames, I think you should be able to set a custom icon for your friend that appears only in your park, in the case that you have more than one friend with the same profile icon. It would help with distinguishing your friends' list, as well as giving your friend character while also not changing their icon in their own park.
And lastly, I feel like there should be something in your profile that says the last twin dragon you bred in the co-operative breeding cave. Showing the species of dragon twinned, and possibly the receiver of the twin, would be interesting to me.

Little trick for my parks - my parks always have the same dragon for an icon but baby park always has the baby version of the dragon. Still I love this idea especially for all the Dragonvalers!
Cosmetic settings for island portals (visitor spawn points)
Examples: -- invisible -- colour changes -- comes with island theme (so a new design for every element type). Reversal to default possible.
Purchasable: -- gems -- arrived in combination with island themes -- extra purchase in event market (preferred)
Gameplay purposes: Since many players have the island themes stocked, this could be the time to offer a new currency sink in the market. I've noticed that the release speed of decorations has slowed down. In events with little new items, an expensive cosmetic is an affective, low effort option.
I don't think this is as popular as an option not to waste your wishes, but I just keep forgetting about writing it.
This is a little thing, but might be easy for DECA to do. We don’t have bright yellow decorations, other than cubes, to compliment Sun habitats, so could Deca give us a sun-yellow version of The Tufts of Terra? Please! Thank you!
awwww, lovely doubly is so lovely and clever! i’m still 😊! nice work deca!
I like the loading screen, though I'm not sure how everyone will feel about Mesmer's existence on it 😂
O, i didn’t see mesmer. i was referring to the beautiful colored animated rose covering what I assume will be the event island. It pleases me to see it.
