I know the rules used to state that if you bought the dragon, you were out of the competition. The competition was about being the last to get the dragon. If you bought it, you have it, so you weren’t the winner. I’m not saying that has to be the rules now, but if we say that you can buy the dragon and stay in, would that mean that I could hypothetically buy the dragon now and still win the competition if I never manage to breed it? (I’m not planning to do that, but I’m pointing out how such a thing could happen.) If multiple people fail to breed it and choose to buy it, would the winner be whoever bought it last? Or could we say the competition ends at such-and-such time, a certain number of hours before the dragon goes away? Anyone who didn’t breed it or buy it before then is a winner, but they still have time to buy frons before it vanishes. That might be the most fair way to do it. If we go that route, it should probably be 12 hours before the dragon will leave to account for different time zones.

Sorry, I didn’t mean that you could buy the dragon and still be in the comp. Once you have the dragon you are out. My question is, if you buy the dragon on a Wednesday, and are the 7th person to get it, are you eligible for the Prime, Odd, Pixie, etc gems, or do you forfeit those because you didn’t breed the dragon.

First, wapatango , great minds think alike. We both had the same idea, you just clarified it better by saying the competitions ends 12 hours before it leaves the market. That way we can still say that if you buy the dragon during the competition you are out, but there is still time once the competition ends for people to get it. Buying the dragon during the competition should not count toward Pixie pledges or any others, because winning a pledge should be based on luck, not someone’s planning. And if you moderators decide to go this route, my pledge can be the last 24 hours of the competition.
No, I don't think it is too harsh. It is a possibility to get the dragon without being unfair towards the other competitors.
So, as an example, if there are 3 competitors who haven't breed the Frons by next Thursday, and then they all buy it on the last day, does the last person to breed it become the winner after the fact? Or do we not have any winners? What do you think?
Here are my 50 cent Our competition says "the winner is the last person to breed this dragon" or something similar. If there are competitors that miss out on the dragon, then they are the winners, otherwise the last one that breeds the dragon. If anybody decides to quit the comp they agree to not get any gems. So if all left competitors buy the dragon (and quit the competition) this makes the last one who bred the dragon the winner. This official statement should not hold off anyone from sending sympathy gems to whoever they want.
Everything else like 12 hours before the dragon expires is difficult to handle. How about if we have 5 persons left without the dragon shortly before it expires. 4 of them decide to buy it and the fifth person afterwards is lucky and breeds it ?
My opinion is : who buys the dragon can not be the winner. It is no shame to quit the comp for whatever reasons, but then you are out.

Sorry I misunderstood. I agree with rulilind. That shouldn’t count for special pledges because then someone could ‘plan’ to get extra gems by choosing to buy the dragon at a particular time, which doesn’t seem quite fair. I don’t think anyone here would do that, but it might become an issue one day. The point of the competition is to breed the dragon, so getting it in other ways probably shouldn’t count. Receiving a twin from someone else still counts as you breeding it, since you did supply one of the parents they used. That’s my thoughts on the matter, anyway.

If you buy the event dragon in the first 5 days of the event, you are out of the competition, and forfeit any winnings you would have gotten for that dragon.
If, after buying an event dragon, you happen to breed or receive a Twin, you still receive a Twin pledge (assuming the person offering the pledge, is happy to pay out on all instances of the dragon).
Questions
If you buy an event dragon, can you still win a Pixie pledge, if you breed another one on the required day? (assuming the person offering the pledge, is happy to pay out on all instances of the dragon)?
Should the event finish early, so that competition winners have the chance to buy the dragon? If so, how early?
If someone doesn't want to buy the dragon, and breeds the dragon after the comp is over, but before the dragon has left the market, are they still a winner?
My thoughts are, that the comp should run until the dragon leaves the market. People can continue trying, right up until the dragon goes. I don't have a problem with someone buying the dragon, but I think they should forfeit any winnings, whenever they do.
2 reasons: 1-The comp is about dragon breeding, and the order that you breed the dragon. 2-The main reason is, if an unsuccessful breeder buys the dragon just before it leaves, they have it. If an unsuccessful breeder doesn't buy the dragon at all, they don't have it. I don't think both of those people should receive the same rewards from the other competitors, in a dragon breeding competition.
These are just my thoughts, and I'm happy to hear feed back from everyone in the comp. I think we need a majority ruling on this, and we'll adjust the rules of future comps after wards. I'm going to add a poll to this post so everyone can vote.

I don't go with this. If you buy a dragon and breed it in coop with another dragon of this type, your chances are fairly good to breed a twin of it. Much higher than if you have not bought the dragon. But I think it is up to the ones who make twin pledges to decide wether they will honour the twin breed with a gem or not.

Your odds are better, but not fairly good. 1 in 10 is a Twin and I don’t know what the chances of cloning is, but multiplying them together is still a small number. And what if you receive a twin from a person using a bought Frons?
All of that being said, it is definitely up to the person who makes the pledge.
Aah, I did t read the long story rules, lol. Makes sense 👍🏻☺️ If I breed the limited, I’m out and will have the benefits of my place, 1st, 2nd, 7th, pixie, even etc. And will pay the according to my pledge 😊 If I buy the dragon, I’m out and will pay my pledge, and common sense tells me I will forfeit place, Right??🤔 Since the limited will still be available via co-op.
Here’s to today’s Comp Limited Dragon!! 🐨🐨⛺️🍷🍫🍿🐉🐨🐨
Sorry I didn't get to this yesterday. I'm sure a lot of people will buy the dragon late on the last day, if they have had no luck in breeding it. The thoughts were that this will remove them from the chance of winning a prize in the competition.
Does this seem too harsh?
Not at all harsh at all. This is a friendly competition after all. Here are my 2 cents worth. 😁 If a player wants to buy the dragon, they are removed from winning, but still should pay the winners, according to their pledge. If someone doesn’t breed or buy the dragon before it expires, they are the winner/winners and could then continue trying in co-op like we did with Woven. If all of the final contestants decide to buy the dragon before it expires, then we have no winner and no one gets paid for being last/winner.

I agree. Imo, the moment you buy, you forfeit the comps winnings. With twins also. If you put your bought Frons in co-op, more friends will try breeding with the Frons dragon than with any other hidden or plant/metal combos. Therefore increasing your chances of receiving a twin, via the purchased Frons. Let the competition run until the limited expires. It’s up to the player to buy and drop out of receiving any winnings. If any player pushes through and decides not to purchase, letting Frons expire with out having it, they are the clear winner and get all the gems and treats. By then, they deserve it!
Now, I know it’s been less than 24 hours Frons is out and about, but I’m already feeling a wee bit stressed.🙃 Think I’ll skip on over to the Whine Lounge and have a bit of a rest 😆 See y’all there! 🍷🍫🍷🍿🍷🍫🍷🍿🍷🍫🍷🍿🍷🍫🍷 🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨⛺️🐉🍃🍁🍂🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨🐨

I will add my 2 cents also. I have always felt that the competitions were for fun first, but then the prizes were a consolation prize for the person or persons would had the most trouble getting the dragon. crumble608, Let’s suppose only one person breeds a very hard to get dragon, so declares themselves a loser. Everyone else fails to breed the dragon despite constant trying, maybe using lots of gems and probably a ton of etherium, so they buy it at the last minute. Your thinking is that the person who bred it is the winner. I personally don’t agree. They got the dragon, the gems for pledges, and got to keep their event currency also. They were definitely not a loser.
I agree with LynnMarie, if someone does not breed or buy the dragon, they should be the winner. However, if everyone who doesn’t breed the dragon buys it, we have two choices. First, like LynnMarie suggested, we have no winner, or second, everyone who had to buy it with event currency is a winner.

rulilind I like your second option also, everyone who has to buy Frons, at the last moment before it expires, are shared winners That is if everyone left ends up buying it and there are no obvious winners who didn’t buy with event currency. The Great Koala knows I’ve already been spending gems like crazy for Frons. My first co-op was Iron Blossom with Tulip and right out of the gate I got a 48 hour Gold, = 48 gems gone 🤦🏻♀️
