I think perhaps I need to make my first visit to the whine lounge for after initial luck breeding a few previous event dragons, my park has entered a dry spell and is being shunned. What is the best treat to share for a first time visitor? I have a personal liking for dark chocolate, and of course, a good red wine...
3 challenges in the Mausoleum in a row I got top marks using level 10 double rainbow. Thanks for all the advice, everyone. It seems like something we should have in the first posts of an event.

Success so far with neighbour dragon being 1) matching element elder (one time) 2) non-matching element elder (one time)
Victim of choice: lvl. 15 rainbow. I'm not sure what to call it, but it gets me much better results in this sample size.
If the theory is true, the best thing a rival/coop dragon can contribute is level, not elements. (Before this, I've had all elements sometimes, but didn't get full candy anyway by using low level rift dragons.) I'll keep picking elders of the wrong element to see if it does anything. MinyaZ's strategy is a real game changer either way, though.
sun as lisgie mentioned, the game doesn't like it if you use the same dragon for every challenge. Use other rainbow type dragons with ten elements as well - Aurora, Leap Year etc. Other ten element dragons may also work (Dream, Muse, Surprise), but I only use Rainbow types - there are plenty of them to choose from.
To clarify, an elder dragon is a Level 21, Primary Dragon (Plant, Fire, Earth etc). Use that with your rainbow type if it is available, otherwise, as you suggested, use a level 20 dragon with one or more matching elements to the challenge.
Thank you, I've been switching between rainbow and leap year in the last few tries, though. I have no idea if that's enough, but one more breed couldn't hurt.
I'm starting to suspect using the same partner dragon might have influence. It'd be a great to know if there's any % involved. Did you have poor luck using repeating dragons that were not your own?
I just got the Wendigo in CBC - thank goodness because I still don't have a Macabre. Some of my misses were dark dragons I was missing from my time of hiatus like Void and Frissure so that's good too. At least the misses were things I needed.
Wait ... am I trying to choose a friends challenge dragon with the elements, or without? I figured if I challenge a dragon with no required elements, with my dragon that has some of the required elements, I would have the best chance of winning.
I think you are over complicating or over thinking this. 🙂. You need to match the elements you’ve been given. For example, if the elements are Plant, Fire, Earth and Cold, select your highest level rainbow type (ten elements) and see if one of your friends has an elder Plant, Fire, Earth or Cold and use that - otherwise a friend’s level 20 dragon with one of the elements.
Try it and see how you go - you can’t do any worse than getting ten event currency.
Oh wow all this time I thought it was the two elements on my side were for me and the two elements on the other side were for the competiting dragon. LOL!! Whoops

I’ve been trying to breed Spirit with Spectre and Ghost. Is it breedable with the parents or do I need to parent clone? Same question with my attempts for Bogberry.

Yes, and yes Spirit = Ghost + Spectre Bogberry = Bog + Berry

I'm reminiscing and remembering fondly the days when dragons were breedable! Event dragons would take a bit more time then normal dragons, but I always felt like I would get them eventually because the odds were reasonable. Dragons like Rainbow and Double Rainbow took a long time to get, but it was exciting when you did get them because they were the exception. Now it seems like every new dragon is as rare as those dragons. Breeding games are just not as fun when you initiate each breeding attempt with the expectation that you're not going to get what you want. Even with the many extra breeding attempts we get because of the Rift, it still feels like it's harder to breed dragons than ever! But maybe it's just me...

No, it's totally relateable. Do you know how many dragons I bred during the Chrysalis event?
Zero. None. Nothing at all. This month is shaping up to be similar. But I've also had an event where I bred all dragons. On averages, players do okay, but sometimes the game just likes to be a menace.

adlerist thank you thank you thank you for the Wendigo dragon!! 💙🎃💙🎃💙
I'm so happy that I finally got one. Only I'm maxed out on Spooky habitats and they're all packed full. Guess I'll have to pick one and put it into hibernation until they up the max limit on Spooky habitats. Because I very much want to stick to my special theme on my Halloween/fall island.
But still Wendigo! I'm so happy! He's going to look gorgeous with all his other spooky friends.

So the rift habitats are actually not for use in the rift. You can put rift dragons in them in the Vale. I guess you get dc for them. I wonder if this will be useful enough to purchase a lot of these habitats. I wish there was a way to put them in the rift. I don't have enough habitats in the rift for the rift dragons I have and am forced to keep a bunch in storage. With these new rift habitats for the Vale I could take some out of storage and send them to the Vale. Although I don't know what the advantage might be of having a bunch of rift dragons in the Vale. I might be missing something but I don't see a reason to own a ton of these.

It’s for people like me, who doesn’t do anything in the rift, but now can bring a bit of the rift to his main park! :-)
I need to join in. I would really like to BREED Wendigo not have to buy it. I have the currency but I enjoy the game more when efforts of breeding are rewarded. It is really tough though when all breed chances are set sooooo low nowadays. 2% is way too low with how many dragons we have now.
I totally agree Amos. I too want to be able to breed Wendigo. This is after all a breeding game, not Dragonmart
The power of the whine works. Two nights ago Macabre was a total stud and brought me two Wendigo twins from friends. 😱🥳

My thought was to be able to display non epic, low E producing rift exclusives that are in the rift hibernation cave. The problem is even with unlimited habitats where can I put them if we do not get more islands. I am maxed on space right now and have to keep rearranging to fit all these new dragons we keep getting. I have plenty of habitats I can use but nowhere to put them.

Really low odds combined with an ever growing list of new dragon fails makes it more difficult as we go along. The odds of getting a dragon should be climbing as the list of dragons grow to compensate for all the fails. It is way easier to get gem and crystalline dragons than the event dragons. With as many dragons as we have there shouldn’t be a dragon at less than 5% chance.

amosangengland and DragonMoonX - Please send your koalas around, so the rest of us can be so lucky! I whined in another post so hopefully one of these works.
Don't mind the sobbing bundle just inside the door to the lounge... I think I've had too much whine and truffles...

Yes, we need some new islands. I'm low on space as well. I over compensate by refusing to use all my space in case I desperately need some. I realize that is not the smart decision and I'm trying to coax myself into not hoarding and instead make the best use all my space.
For the rift habitats my thought was to put some of the dragons that could only be displayed in the rift like antumbra, lacuna and ghast into these habitats in the Vale but alas, it seems you can't do that. So I am still struggling with what to do with them. I want to buy habitats that don't count against my total but I am struggling as to what to do with them. I see myself having to be constantly shipping dragons back and forth when I need a dragon I chose to send to the Vale to breed in the rift. I would just breed doubles but the food these rifties eat is too rich for my blood. No hamburgers and hotdogs for these guys, filet mignon and lobster all the way. I can't afford to feed these guys up. Still the opportunity to get these habitats is too good to ignore even if I can't figure out right now what to do with them.

Still nothing. I got a Fury from an epic egg of mystery, though, so that's in Coop now :/
It's funny, actually. Every spooky dragon I ever got except misfortune was from an EoM, including zombie (2x), macabre (2x) and snowapocalypse. Even the rares like oni before they cloned themselves. I've had such absurd Koala with rainbow dragons and most of galaxy.
Btw, why does this forum replace the phrase go*d luck with Koala? I didn't even know it did that until today. Absurd Koala to all still trying.
