@jacquirebriggs - Just send your two traited coldcoils over to the vale. With clone + breed chance right now you should get pretty easy.
Oh shoot, why didn't I think of that?
I bred another plant trait Whimsical this morning and then I sold it. I should have kept the dang thing and bred the two of them together in the vale for a dragon without a trait.
I always try to keep at least two of every dragon, especially in the rift. That way you can breed them together for pedestals, bingo cards, and RBC.
Maybe you’ll warm up to buying the mysterious ones.
Because your wish has been granted!
Good news for those that want it. But DV has always been a dragon breeding game for me. :-)
You can breed Monolith dragons in the Rift. I think you may have misunderstood the purpose of the Monolith Egg of Mystery. Backflip created them so players can breed Monoliths in the Rift. If you purchase traited Monolith dragons from its mystery egg, you can start breeding the collection.
It’s identical to how the Monoliths work in the Vale. You must purchase a base Monolith dragon. If you refuse to obtain any Monolith dragons unless they’re bred, then you cannot breed the collection. In the same way, if you refuse to purchase the primary dragons in the Vale or Rift Market, you can’t breed any dragons.

That's a great point about the mystery egg work around. But the Rift is just super boring to me. It's just a handful of new dragons, and then all the others repeated (just slightly different) and then only habitats (but no-where near enough to display all the rifted dragons) and no decorations or anything else fun. If there's no way to breed a monolith or a snowflake in there, then so be it. :-)
I've always felt the same way about the rift, Fletch_smf . It's incredibly boring, 95% of rift dragons are basically recolors, there aren't any decorations, and it's really a dull place overall with nothing exciting going on. That's why I take my rift exclusive dragons and put them on display in my main park, where I can admire them.
EDIT: And now that that's been said, I finally managed to breed Whimsical... in the rift!
The rift is good for speed breeding, but my Whimsical has a plant trait. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it with a plant trait - looks a little too green honestly. But then I moved it to my park, fed it, and now I think the plant trait doesn't look half bad. Sort of like a glowing neon green.
Tl;dr the rift might be boring, but it's still a good place to breed dragons without having long timers.
The Rift is why I stopped playing DV. It came out, I commented dubiously here, and then… stopped
To come back and stay back, I had to find a way to interact with the Rift that worked for me. DragonMoonX is right, it’s handy having another breeding location without the timers, and to be fair, some of the recolours are /pretty/. It’s been really useful trying to catch up on the dragons I missed.
I’m pretty sure I’ll never get purple fire and that’s alright with me.
A lot of players didn’t like the Rift when Backflip introduced it as a permanent feature. Especially those who already had many of the dragons in the Vale. It frustrated them because they felt they had to collect traited versions of the same dragons. It was like starting all over again, and it was overwhelming and upset them.
But then, as time moved on, they eventually collected all the regular dragons, and their goals expanded. They started collecting twins, traited versions, traited pedestals, blue fire, purple fire, etc. The Rift is critical to the longevity of DragonVale. I’ve played a lot of games where I reached the end. I completed all the levels, collected all the content; there’s no where to go except to quit the game — that’s what I consider boring, not the Rift.
I like how the breeding strategy is different in the Rift, and the new challenges it brings. The brilliance behind DV is there’s always lofty goals ahead. Instead of dully maintain red or blue fire, there’s something bigger and newer with the promise of purple fire, thanks to the Rift.
And it’s not just for endgamers. New players depend on the Rift to breed the hundreds of limiteds they’re missing. If you’re convinced you’ll never like the Rift, then you probably won’t. But if you keep an open mind, the Rift may surprisingly grow on you.
(Also, if this conversation can be continued on the Tips & Strategies thread, the folks who are looking for event info will greatly appreciate it. All apologies for grossly adding to the off-topic convo just now 😅.)

If a new app update is needed, it will take even longer, as it’ll require approval from Apple and Google.
I’ll ask again and see if there’s an estimated timeframe.

PSA: Pixie, Hedera, and Glyph are not available through the Monolith Egg of Mystery.
I requested the evolve Monolith dragons be added to their mystery egg last year, but it was really busy at the time, and Deca understandably didn’t have a chance to include them. I’ve asked again, but do not know if/when they’ll be added.

The fire glow of the Burrow twin is brighter than any campfire, but not nearly as bright as CharDoan’s and Lorry’s magnificence.
Many, many thanks to you, Lorry and chardoan! Fire red gems and hot tamale treats are burrowing their way to your parks.

This is my first official WHINE. Trying to co-op breed a burrow dragon..started with poison after a few days, with only one 10 minute timer, I moved on to using elder earth b/c someone said they used that and got burrow…. Been trying for more days , speed breeding etc….so. Many. Lava. Dragons! Every time it’s a 10 min timer I get super excited, eveytime it’s a LAVA! Ugh. If anyone could spare some koalas I promise to feed them and return them in good condition. TIA!
I am with you. After 2-3 days of constant coop breeding I was able to get zip zap. Other than that I have lava, obsidian and wisp over and over. I went from about 500 gems to 60 in one Park. I give up. I am not spending my reward money as chances are the limited will be out soon and I won’t be able to breed them either. Each event appears to get more difficult. I don’t have many of the dragons needed in this event so may just collect my pine cones and not worry about it. I quit for awhile and may do that again. Just too many events way too close together, which is great if you have all the dragons from prior events. I do not. Thank you for sharing a wine 🍷.
Sending you both loads of koala!
I was able to clone Burrow with Ghostly Earth elder in my main park and Earth elder in my secondary. Burrow does have a lower breeding percentage than the others, but the elders have been good for me. I used Ghostly Cold elder to clone Aperture in two tries. Ziploc took a while.
Sometimes the RNG just isn’t on our side.

Same with me! I got Burrow with Elder Earth and Aperture with Elder Ghostly Cold!! The Elders always seem to work really with 2 and 3 element dragons 😃
As well as having a great animation, Zipzap has zipped and zapped to first equal place with Ocular as the best dragon in the Colosseum for the Lightning element.
Because so many of the very best dragons for the Colosseum have only been released recently and not all players will have them, the list now includes up to six dragons for each element. (Thanks to samiam for the suggestion)
Thank you it looks awesome!! It wasn’t my suggestion tho, it was Adlerist who suggested it I only agreed and thought it’d be really helpful. I’ll definitely be using this table!
Dragon designs looking stunning so far, I love all 3 of the new guys! But looks can be deceiving, fingers crossed the rest of our new dragon friends are as amazing as the first 3!
Good news for those that want it. But DV has always been a dragon breeding game for me. :-)

Sure. And you’ve got to buy all the primary dragons to get started. But buying mystery eggs is not for me. :-)

Interesting and good to know adlerist - I didn't remember buying (or getting) a Monolith in the Vale. And I was also reluctant to buy the Monolith EoM, similar to Fletch_smf.
Uh... I heard rumors of Frons not contributing the Hidden Element. Someone in Discord said they tried 168 times trying to breed Apex with Frons and still didn't get it.
I contacted DECA about the potential bug and they just said it's just bad luck.
Is it really true that Frons is bugged or is it just bad luck?
Frons is probably still annoyed about the fancy dress & is just being stubborn. (You’ll only get this @jacquirebriggs if you remember when Frons was just a simple leaf. I’m still not over it 😠🤣)

I am not over it either. Every time I see Frons I remember how much I preferred the first version better. They could have done the juvenile stage as the plain, and that would have made a lot of sense. It grows the leaves as an adult.

It is not bugged. This came up with the newer hidden dragons last event. They all contribute the hidden element. Depending on what other elements the person added could have added up to a lot of fails. It would be a minimum of 4 elements. Some dragons are just hard to get or you have bad rng.

Absolutely!! They should have left us something of the old Frons! 🍁
