To wish or to gem, that is the question. I could do either.
I’m looking for advice now that I found out you can wish for twins. I can also wish for the topmost rift habitats. But it is a lot of gems for the new islands, and I can speed breed on twin weekend. Wishing for twins also feels like it defeats the whole breeding aspect of the game. But on the other hand I don’t feel like I will ever get to blue fire without wishing.
I need advice.
I used wishes for the two new islands, because I have seven saved, and unless Deca lets us wish for traited versions of dragons, I have nothing to spend them on.
There are a few twins that are just easier to wish for than trying to obtain through the co-op, even during Twin Weekend, like Snowflake 7. But you could also claim the twin when it shows in its event, if they’re one of the dragons you can select from the daily event rewards calendar. I don’t think using a wish to claim a twin defeats the purpose of breeding or blue fire, because wishes are rare. If you could buy twins, then the purpose of blue fire would be defeated. But there’s no way someone can accomplish blue fire by using wishes. I have only wished for one twin, and that was Snowflake 7, after spending too many gems trying to twin it at the co-op, and not wanting to waste Etherium with the Snowflake Egg of Mystery.
My advice would be to see which twins you need, then check their double-parent cloning percentages in Quil’s Compendium. That will give you some idea of how many dragons you may need to use a wish on. It likely won’t be many.
If you have enough wishes to cover those dragons, then consider using wishes on the new islands. Also, keep in mind, you don’t have to wish for the new islands now. If you’re not sure, and you don’t need the land, you can use your wish at any time.
But if you’re looking to spend gems, then you’ll need to buy the islands during the Expansion Extravaganza to take advantage of the sale. I don’t know how many gems you have, but if you have an excess, then it’s worth using them on the new islands. I know lots of players like to hoard gems, I do too, but gems don’t do any good, unless you spend them.

My next dilemma is how to use my gems. I’ve been saving up and can afford ONE of the following - carefully hoarded wishes notwithstanding: - colossal - overgrown - expand Olympus - megatat!
Any pros or cons, other than expanding Olympus being cheaper? Will any of them be hanging alone in space?
If you have the Gargantuan Island, then none of the islands you listed above will be hanging out alone, far from the others, like a foreign archipelago.
If you need the land, then I’d say Overgrown, because it’s positioned directly below the Gargantuan Island, so your park will still be symmetrical. If you don’t need the land, then I’d say expanded Olympus.

Thanks for posting the prices! Well forget about the new islands, it looks like I’m going to spend all my gems on upgrading the hibernation caves and storage tower lol!
Happy to have the two new islands, thanks for the tips on dragons to use in the Megatat. It looks great on my phone, but low resolution and pixelated on the iPad. Hoping they will fix that.
Do you think that the Megatat might be upgradable in the future to host more dragons ?
I doubt it, purely because if you look at the images of the megatat in-game, 15 dragons can hardly be seen on the habitat menu - their icons are much too small.
The icons do look small, but DECA could adjust that or add another line of icons. The problem is the dragons look really small in the gigantic habitat. It looks weird. But I love the concept of the Megatat!
The DC cap is way too low. It doesn’t make any sense to have an entire island limited at 3.5 million.
I think that's an average of 233k per dragon.
I check the game every 4 hours so that would require them to be earning 58.3k an hour or 972 a minute.
So probably not the greatest for DC farming, but just as the giant Omnitat it effectively is? I'd say that's fine.
Plus, DC farmers may be checking more regularly than I do, so the 'low' cap isn't that much of an issue.
It’s too low. If one or two epic habitats can earn 3.5 million, then a whole island of dragons should have a higher cap. It doesn’t make any sense to limit it to 3.5 million. It makes the Megatat less desirable.

I got some eternal essence, which normally can only be obtained at level 40+, from hidden items in my main park. My alts are level 30 or under, no hidden items.
I reckon you have to be level 40 or over to have the hidden items.
Can anyone chime in? What level is/are your park(s) and do you have hidden items (the green border around the visitor icon)?
Also, does your Kairos' perch have ribbons/balloons? I have ribbons in my alts, regardless of whether I've summoned Kairos or not, but no ribbons in my main park. I think it might be ribbons for levels 1-39 as a replacement for the hidden items.
I'm intrigued to see if anyone else's parks fit/don't fit the pattern I'm seeing with mine.

The holidays may have left, but there’s something just as jolly around the corner…
A break from events to catch your breath and catch up on some sleep. And during that break, there will be an Expansion Extravaganza and two new types of islands: the Colossal Island and the Megatat!
I've decided to use my Megatat to put all my elder dragons into one place, as it can hold 15 dragons, and there are 15 elders currently available to obtain (fire, plant, earth, cold, lightning, water, light, dark, metal, air, ghostly plant, ghostly cold, ghostly fire, ghostly earth, and dargon):

This looks fantastic! The image is visible, no worries there.
BTW, I moved your above post and several others regarding the mini event from the event thread to the Expansion Extravaganza thread.

I haven’t heard any plans about upgrading the Megatat, but I’d love to see an upgrade to its DC cap!
The DC cap is way too low. It doesn’t make any sense to have an entire island limited at 3.5 million.
We should take into account that the Megatat was designed by a novice Wizard whose calculations were a little bit off. Maybe he was distracted trying to breed a Greenge dragon. Hopefully Megata 2.0 will be high-resolution and come with a higher income cap.

I came here to mention this too. I don’t complain much about DV, but the DC amount is way too low. It’s a much better deal to buy the Colossal island because you can decorate it and you’ll make a lot more DC if you just put a couple epic habitats on it. The Megatat doesn’t help players. It’s literally just for show.
adlerist will DECA change the cap? My Giant Treasure habitat makes 3,500,000 DC, and two Large Treasure habitats that cost DC, not gems, makes 4,000,000. An island with 15 dragons that cost 3,000 gems (or 1,500 on sale) should earn a lot more than 3,500,000 DC.

I couldn’t agree more. The terribly low DC limit is the number one complaint about the Megatat. I’ll bring up this issue along with others. Hopefully, Deca will raise the cap.
