Also... What even is the vintage category for? It's just a random group of dragons.
It isn't quite the ragtag group of dragons that it appears at first.
All the 100 milestone dragons live here - Century (100), Bicentennial (200), Fates (300), Seraph (400), Quintessence (500), Combustion (600), Hyperion (700)
Blue Moon, Leap Year, Double Leap Year and Triple Leap Year all only appear once in a 'blue moon' so they are here as well.
There is probably a very good reason for Apocalypse and Panlong to be here, but I'm not sure of the exact reason. They were both the first of their kind when they were released. Panlong was for the Chinese New Year in 2012 and Apocalypse was released at the end of 2012 when the world was going to end.
There is a lot written on both dragons in the Wiki. ApocalypsePanlong
I figured it might be something like that... Panlong's probably because of it being the dragon that never returned outside of BeBs (until DECA changed that and put it in an event, hopefully they'll do that again this year because I don't have it 😢), but I agree, Apocalypse threw me off. No idea why that's there.

I believe that not only was Panlong released for the Chinese New Year in 2012, it was specifically because 2012 was the Year of the Dragon. Since Chinese New Years go in a cycle of 12 years (we just started the Year of the Rabbit), we won't have another Year of the Dragon until next year, 2024. So I suspect Panlong will be available again around Chinese New Year of next year. Talk about your rare dragons...once every 12 years!
I guess Apocalypse will come the next time the world is supposed to end. Don't know when that's gonna be... 😳

Of course ikatako is Worms' favorite dragon, it's based directly off his design! And who can't admire the adorableness that is the baby ikatako dragon.

1. They clarified that it isn't. It's Kwall. 2. Ah yes because I'm expected to know everything, especially since I've only been part of the DV community for a few months. 3. Maybe read to see if someone's replied first?

Kwall is one of my fave dragons too and so is Ikatako. I would even guess that people who like one probably also like the other. Although they don’t look alike, they have the same qualities, a squishy gummy squid look! Kwall reminds me of gelatine.

I’m using the Megatat to display dragons based on current holidays. Right now I’ve got several Valentines related dragons there.
I’m glad I had a good stash of gems to be able to get it and the colossal island. Now to work on the rearranging and decorating. I need to start up a third Christmas Island!

That's such a cool idea!! I might steal that idea when I eventually get the Megatat in something like 2 years because I still need to wish for the other special islands.
I cleared up my overgrown island. No idea what to do with it. Thinking a monolith/hidden/plant hybrid, with gemstone reward and harmonious habitats if DECA raises the cap.
However, that requires an unholy amount of habitats and even more work. I'd rather get to it during easter. Not that I can't start planning the general idea.
I've never been satisfied with my hidden island. No shame raiding it. I like my harmonious island too much for the same crime. Though, I could copy it to the center? That means losing the island theme... Not really accepting that

Use Excel or Google sheets to make a 40x40 grid, then plan out where you put everything. Work out a structure that you like in practice, then make it in-game to see if you like it actually.

That is an excellent idea. 😊
I'm thinking of getting the Colossal Island to put all the Epic pedestals on rather than have them scattered around the park.
I'd like to group them in their categories - Rainbow, Dream etc. Does anyone have a layout that they would be willing to share that I could get some inspiration from (and maybe borrow)? 😉

Hmm... You could do it in order that the elements were released? So Rainbow first and Zodiac last. Or alphabetical order of elements so Aura > Zodiac, though if ever new elements were released you'd have to move stuff around. And then in the element categories you could go rainbow order of pedestals, though that might be tricky, so you could do something like alphabetical order of name?
I actually like it being all random. Sorting by elements is nice but having them in their elements but other than that no particular order would make it look like an explosion of colour, which would be really cool in my opinion.

Having a spreadsheet that is in alphabetical order, I can tell you that would be a bad idea. You would be rearranging *every* event. I group mine by element design, epic, and other. That’s a lot of work as it is. Tried to start having all galaxy and chrysalis together, but than had to do to much rearranging to make it work. Eventually everything else on the island, including elemental eggs had to move, so starting out on colossal is a good idea.
All I can say for certain is you will only want to do a pedestal rearrange once (and even then it might take months). So have a plan before you start.

Ah, thank you for the advice. But, I'm afraid I'm far too hands on for that. While I can create vivid images in my head, I can't "hold" them without giving myself a headache.
In this case, first I lay down the paths to create symmetry, locate the middle, etc. Then I lay down the rest of what will create the "spine". Currently, hidden, monolith, gemstone reward and harmonious habitats. Since it's all green, but not all green looks good next to each other, it's the best way for me. I can't imagine that all effectively on an excel sheet.

Sort the pedestals by color. Pedestals with one straight side are probably edge pedestals. Pedestals with adjoining straight sides are likely corner pedestals. The remaining pedestals go somewhere in the middle. Patience is a virtue.

My favourite approach to pedestals is drow ’s. Don’t collect them, don’t have anything to do with them. 😄
It’s too late for me, but hopefully others can save themselves from the egg clutter.
I use them to fill in the random spaces between my habitats, which avoids clutter and maximises use of space since no tile is left empty. I don't have any rhyme or reason to the pedestals though, I just put them in gaps as I get pedestals. With 12 islands that aren't purely for pedestals, I think that's about 300 pedestals accounted for. The rest, when I eventually get them, will go on a normal island, again with no logic, just as I get them. I think it will look cooler that way, though currently the island I will be using has the Earth theme since that was the only non-duplicate theme I had left so I'm hoping to replace that... (No offence earth element, but your island theme is... kinda bland.)
My Gargantuan will be for storing habitats and newly released decor/pedestals I don't currently have space for (I've already planned out the current decor, pedestals, and the habitats required to house all dragons in-game at the moment, because I was growing impatient and needed something to do), Colossal will be for a Rainbow DC farm (because I can't be bothered with the low odds of other dragons or even to actively attempt for them, I'm just going to fill it up with Rainbow dragons as I get them as fails... Finally a use for Aurora fails hey) and the Overgrown will be for decoration because it looks far prettier than the other two. I'm thinking forests and lakes. (But I actually need the island first, and I've got about two months left to wait for my wish 😂)
I worked out when planning that if you use space practically rather than decorating you only need 13 islands to get one of every current dragon, decoration and pedestal so I got up to the fifteenth from the event and the sixteenth onwards will be purely for me decorating. As more islands are required I'll store the decorations until more islands are released, but hopefully there will have been more released by the time I need space.
The Lost Island will be for plant farming... No idea what's going on the Olympus island (probably more decoration) and haven't decided what dragons will have the honour of Megatat status yet. I have about 20-or-so duplicate dragons from when I still hatched duplicates so I might pick my 15 favourite and sell the rest, but it'll be sad because they're all epics

yes I maybe the only one. But my egg pedestals are grouped by category and alphabetical. I started this as a way of tracking the dragons I own. Collecting the pedestal before the twin or the rift. I still use my egg islands as a reference too what’s missing from my collection. my islands are packed and I was waiting for this new colossal island to do some expanding.
Yes the eggs take up a lot of real estate, but I really find the dragontarium extremely frustrating. It so desperately needs an update, to be able to sort various ways the 700 plus available dragons. check it out MinyaZ. Interested in what you design looks like.
Thank you for the suggestions. theresa and lisgie I'm going to visit your parks to see how you have them arranged. 😊
I'm not thinking about putting them in alphabetical order, that sounds like too much work and I'll have to rearrange everything after each event. I agree with lisgie, this is something I only want to do once. It sounds like a need a plan of how I want it to look before I start moving them around.
drow's idea of not collecting pedestals is probably the best idea I've heard, but I'm too far in to stop now. 😉

Rainbow order wouldn't work either then, but if you wanted a structure then release order might still be an idea. You could have not only element release order (which could be found out easily in-game since that's the order the elements are listed on the selection menu in the market/racetrack etc.) but dragon release order within elements, though that second stage would take a lot of work so it depends on how much time you're willing to put in to it.
I still think randomness reigns supreme though; sometimes not having a structure can make it look far prettier than everything being regimented. Sorting by element might be nice, but at the very least having it be random within the element might look cool. Obviously it depends on you though.
Since you mentioned that you were planning to organise by element, what will you do with dragons like Vibe or Muse, that have two epic elements (and in Vibe's case also primary elements)?
