Deca Games has developed a series of questions to gather feedback from players regarding their new event dragons. To capture an accurate account of our player’s assessments, Rate a Dragon threads are created for each new dragon. These threads will be available approximately one to four weeks after a dragon’s release to allow players some time to breed the dragon and admire its fine qualities.
The Rate a Dragon threads will remain unlocked until the event concludes on 3 November. At the end of the event, your feedback will be passed on to Deca.
Please take a minute to rate the Into the Dark dragons from 1-5 for each category. You can either post your feedback on this thread, or message me. Thank you for participating, sharing your thoughts, and making this game even better with each day.

TECHNO DRAGON
1. Animation - 4 ; good but missing a finale, a big ending
2. Rift trait - 5
3. Size (if you don’t own Techno, please check a friend’s park) - 5 fits w/other dragons
4. Price (16,650 Pinecones) - 3 on high end
5. How well does Techno fit the theme - 5 - great fit - perfect for Halloween! Reminds me of Jack Skellington from A Nightmare Before Christmas
6. Design details - 5 - LOVE his design! Gorgeous, stunning, interesting!
7. How much do you like Techno (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) -5 - my fav so far
8. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional) LOVE him! ❤️ LOVE his design, wings, tail w/the musical score, love the colors ! He is my favorite of the event so far.
Techno: 1. 4/5 It’s got some moves but they’re slightly awkward ones.. 2. 2/5 Way too subtle. 3. 4/5 Fine at level 20 but gets a bit lost otherwise. 4. 1/5 TechNO!! Too much by far. 5. 4/5 Still a bit confused as to why the Melody dragons were introduced at Halloween but (as with the others) doesn’t look out of place. Maybe that’s why 🥴 6. 3/5 The design is mostly great but something’s really off with the limbs. 7. 3/5 I want to like it more but it’s so ungainly. Maybe I’ll learn to love it.
3. Size (if you don’t own Techno, please check a friend’s park) - 1
4. Price (16,650 Pinecones) - 1
5. How well does Techno fit the theme - 1

Let's talk about techno, my least favorite dragon. Now I didn't have a least favorite dragon before; I do find some designs questionable, but they all fit the Dragonvale theme one way or another. DECA has designed some meh dragons and some truly spectacular dragons, but never one I hated until now.
Animation - DECA has developed some truly amazing animations. This is not one of them. Some dragons like Chuck and Florea pull out objects for their animations. Techno just waves at air; a disc or something solid could have made the animation much better. Its dancing just exposes how wonky the limbs are.
Rift trait - I would comment on this, but the rift trait is barely even noticeable. I was hoping a cool rift trait would save the dragon, but it stinks to find out the only part that is traited is a tiny bit of the tail.
Size - It's another tiny and overdetailed dragon, but it feels so much worse due to the extra detail and thin body shape.
Price - I don't understand why it is so expensive. Heavy metal included an evolution dragon in its combo, yet it's priced at less. In general the prices this event are expensive (especially considering the sizeable market), and I definitely don't think this dragon (with its lackluster animation and design) is worth the price.
Theme - I'm not sure Techno fits the music genre it is based off of nor the event itself. It looks much too futuristic for Dragonvale and stands out (not in a good way) from Punk and Heavy Metal. I don't think Techno music fits the Halloween theme at all.
Design Details - The dragon looks like a poorly designed protogen. The limbs are so thin, and they dangle awkwardly from the unusual body shape. I'm not sure what the head spikes are supposed to be; weird headphones? The tails and the wings are the most interesting part of the dragon, yet none of them fit the overall Dragonvale design. There were several comparisons to Dragon City; for the first time, I think those comparisons have merit. Quite honestly, I like the baby design a lot more than the adult. It's a bad design that doesn't fit anywhere within Dragonvale, and stands out like a sore thumb against DECA's overall designs.
1. Rate Techno‘s animation quality - 2, looks super stilted and doesn't try to do anything special.
2. How would you rate Techno‘s Rift trait placement and look - 1, I can barely see it and super subtle rift traits are no good.
3. Rate Techno’s size - 2, way too small again.
4. Rate Techno’s price - 2, still really expensive despite being the 3rd limited of the event.
5. How well does Techno fit the theme of the event? - 1, what does a techno music dragon have to do with camping or being spooky?
6. Rate the attention to detail in Techno’s design - 3, I guess there are some nice details here...
7. How much do you like Techno? - 1, wow this dragon got botched hard, with its scrawny arms, modern speaker wings, and super odd design feel (doesn't feel like DragonVale) this is one of the super rare dragons that I really hate.
Chillin' like a villin' (I started the - in front of FCs after all!) Friend ID: -Tor#8668
3. Size (if you don’t own Techno, please check a friend’s park) 4
4. Price (16,650 Pinecones) 4 a little pricey
5. How well does Techno fit the theme 4. Music or Halloween
6. Design details 3
7. How much do you like Techno (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 2
8. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional). Some of the recently new dragons have so much going for them; extra animation, coloring, but Techno lacks in all areas. He will be sent to hibernation after this event.
TECHNO 1. Animation - 4, breakdancing 2. Rift trait - 4 subtle is good 3. Size - 3 a little small and thin 4. Price (16,650 Pinecones) - 3 about average 5. How well does Techno fit the theme - 5 for music, not sure on halloween 6. Design details - 4 7. How much do you like Techno (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) - 4
1. Animation: 3/5 - The flying is a bit wonky for me, but I guess they're kinda cool.
2. Rift trait: 1/5 - Way too subtle.
3. Size: 1/5 - It's ridiculous how small and thin this dragon is. It looks so weird next to all the visitors walking around.
4. Price (16,650 Pinecones): 1/5
5. How well does Techno fit the theme: 1/5 - Techno music doesn't really fit Halloween, and the dragon itself looks way too futuristic and sci-fi for DragonVale.
6. Design details: 2/5 - Some of the details are nice, it's just that they don't help the dragon fit in :/
7. How much I like Techno: 1/5
8. Comments/feedback for Deca:
The first time I saw Techno, I thought, "It looks like an alien that infiltrated DragonVale." And not in a good way like the Acid dragon. I'm sure there's a good way to pull off a dragon based off techno music in DragonVale, I just think the execution of it is strongly lacking.
I'm not against more technological dragons either. Deca has made the Combustion dragon and that's one of my favourite dragons. But the magical steampunk aesthetic of the Combustion dragon fits DragonVale's fantasy style way better than the Techno dragon. Techno looks like it's from a completely different game. Its design is too futuristic and its proportions are so WEIRD. Why is it so stick-thin? That's part of what makes me think it's an alien. Even the linework/highlights on Techno look a bit weird. They highlight its thin proportions and excessive shininess, making it stand out way too much in a not-good way. Its name is also too on-the-nose. How do wizards know what techno music is? (Or punk music, for that matter...)
As a musician I really like Deca's addition of the Melody element, but I feel like the Techno dragon has been the weakest melody dragon added so far. There has been a decline in thematic appropriateness from Heavy Metal to Punk to Techno. It started off strong with the Heavy Metal Dragon, which was a bit overly detailed but still fitting the DV style, then the Punk dragon fit in a bit less, and then now the Techno dragon has been the least-fitting melody dragon so far. I feel like it would work better for melody dragons to have more subtlety to them - take notes from the Thrasher dragon and Libretto dragon for example. Those are musical dragons that fit the style of DragonVale well, and they aren't directly named after the music genres they're based on.
Overall, I look forward to more melody dragons in the future that fit DragonVale's style better.
3. Size (if you don’t own Techno, please check a friend’s park)- 2
4. Price (16,650 Pinecones)- 2
5. How well does Techno fit the theme- 1
6. Design details- 1
7. How much do you like Techno (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!)- 1
8. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional)- When I saw this dragon, I knew I wasn't a fan of this new element. I love what you're trying to do here (and I know that there's still a chance to do that) but this execution isn't great. This dragon in particular looks far too unnatural for DV, and its proportions are just odd. I wish these dragons' names were cleverer. I wish the designs were more cohesive. Honestly, I think DECA needs to evaluate each design on a standard of "does this fit into the game's lore?" and "does this fit into the game's general design?" I don't think this dragon checks any of those boxes, and I truthfully don't feel like the others do that much as well. I'll still be cautiously optimistic of this new element since classical themes could still be to come (and this is a Halloween event, what music even fits here?) but right now I'm not impressed.

1. Animation: 4 I like the move where it looks like it’s holding a head phone with one “arm” and cheering the public on with the other. Only 4 out of 5 because the dance move feels a bit too fast, it made me think it was trying to line dance at first. 2. Rift trait: 5 Subtle, well done. 3. Size: 4 4. Price (16,650 Pinecones): 4 5. How well does Techno fit the theme: 1 Because no link with Halloween event. 5 If “theme” is meant to ask about music theme. 6. Design details: 5 7. How much do you like Techno (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!): 4 8. Comments/feedback for Deca (optional) //
1. Animation 4.5 there's something a little awkward about it
2. Rift trait 4 it's okay to have some dragons more subtle
3. Size (if you don’t own Techno, please check a friend’s park) 5 general size, but limbs are too spindly
4. Price (16,650 Pinecones) 5
5. How well does Techno fit the theme 4 I don't think techno is as "halloween" as metal and punk, not as costume-y, but it's okay
6. Design details 3.5 Nice detail, but the skinny arms and legs look awkward for dancing, and I don't like the shape of the head, in fact it took a while for me to see it as a head
7. How much do you like Techno (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 4
1. 2/5. Janky. Weird.....and it feels strange to see this guy doing handstands for some reason.
2. 1/5. Barely shows.
3. 1/5 Yay, another tiny overdetailed dragon.
4. 1/5. Bad enough already; even worse when you realize how this design.....uh.....looks.
5. 1/5. No. It doesn't even fit the theme of Dragonvale as a whole.
6. 1/5. Once again! Anachronistic, but unlike Punk I can't even justify it with mental gymnastics.
7. 1/5. No. I'd say it's a new low but Yeti did it first and worse.
8. Please take notes from the game's original style...it's one of the reasons we stuck to it instead of Dragon City. It's part of the charm, and this design is very much not charming.
1. The break dancing and the air record scratching it feels way too human-y. Something a Vale dragon will never do. 1.5/5
2. That's it? All the color you could have flushed out with the trait and all you trait is the small part of it's tail and the symbol on its chest. I bred a Plant traited one and only met with disappinted. Imagine if the red parts are traited instead! I could have a cool-colored dragon with a mashup of blue and green, but it's so bad that I just have no flipping words. 0.1/5
3. Why are the melody dragons so small?! Are they too scared to make them bigger?! I cant see the detail on them! 1/5
4. It may be just a small increase from Punk, but still too expensive. 0.2/5
5. Absolutely not. This feels like it should be released during a Bright Wild Nights-ish summer event. In fact, Heavy Metal seems to be the only Melody Dragon released in this event that fits fine. Punk may look scary, but it still doesn't fit. 0/5
6. Why. Just why. This feels like something that belongs in the dark nights of Dragon City not the Vale. It's too human-y and feels like it really shouldn't belong. I swear it also feels like the FNFU dev decided to sneak in and help on creating this mostrosity. It's a nothing but an degenerate's fursona and nothing else. 1/5
7. NO. 0.1/5
8. I didn't really want to join the hate bandwagon, but this should have stayed on paper or return to Dragon City. This Melody element feels out of place right now. Next time try to make it themetically fit in the Vale. There are plenty of medieval music to generate a dragon out of. At least these music genres help me shoe in another crappy Ware reference
Now I think I'll apologize to Yeti now. At least it feels natural to fit in the Vale.
