There are quite a few of us out in the cold cecilia - you are not alone. Deca have only released Dragon Draw to those players that managed to obtain the Summoning Circle at the first release.
Until then, the rest of us will have to wait patiently until it is released to everyone - in two days time. 🤞 Or wait impatiently! We want to play too!
Ooh ... but people had problems on its launch, because they didn't have free space to place the building. Clearing space on an island in preparation is probably a good idea. :-)
Hopefully Deca have sorted this 'little' glitch out. But a good idea to have a plan where to place the Summoning Circle.
21 dragons have already been drawn and given to successful winners. Congrats all!!!
On the first day! Wow, that is quite a number. Were they dragons like Poison, Mud, Flower? I don't want to hear that they were Fushi, Busby or Yarr - I can't play and I'm not waiting patiently!

Either this order, or the reverse. Is there a benefit in keep track of this?
Currently available for the draw are:
Dragon (Votes received/Votes needed/(Dd:)Hh:Mm:Ss remaining at time of post) Wind 1454/4000/2:12:00 Zombie 1868/9700/21:12:00 Watch 826/4800/4:52:00 Wendigo 521/8800/01:04:42:00 Woven 1653/10,000/01:06:32
That is some amazing dragons - with the exception of Tree. People voted for Tree? If there are going to be that many dragons won in a day (or more), it will get overwhelming to try and keep track of very quickly. Someone would have to be on all day every day to catch them all.

I want to say that everything up to Diamond was from the first day Dragon Draw was released. I recall seeing those exact dragons, and the players' names for those all end in #null. If so, that would be only three completed today- much more manageable but a lot smaller.

I voted for Iden and Zaffer.
I have to say that I really like the looks of it so far. I think Viridian is somewhere in the voting pool too. And even though I already have a lot dragons because I'm a long time player, there's still something in it for me because it's always been a pain in the rear trying for certain rift dragons.
So I'll be voting for and trying to win Zaffer and Viridian. I'll probably pounce on any gemstone dragons I see too, and there have already been a couple that I'm waiting for. This is a fun way to snag some extra gem producing dragons and add a few more rarities to my collection. I like it. 👍💗
EDIT: Oh, and I voted for Corrupticorn too. That one is in the lead right now with 274 votes. I really want to win a Corrupticorn because I'm not ready to part with my beautiful Chromacorn just to have one. So winning one seems like a better option.

There’s no benefit to keeping track of the dragons that were won. Once they’ve gone through the lottery process they’re returned to the voting pool.
I may keep a list for a couple days out of curiosity for personal use, but only because I like nerdy DV data.

You’re correct. The dragons won by players with 'null' in their names (Ex-Valer#null) were likely the remnants of tests. There’s only been 4 winners today.
However, once Dragon Draw is released to all players, there should be more daily winners because the dragon’s threshold will be met much faster, so new dragons will be added at an accelerated rate. Most DV players are not participating in the soft launch.

I read the faq, but it didn't answer my question: is it possible to get rifted (and twin) dragons in the draw if you have the regular one? Does it work like in other places, where you get regular as default, then twin, then rifted twin?
To the people feeling left out of dragon draw and drooling over the dragons you need to seriously lower your expectations and get ready for reality of how the “game” works. (I think buying a lottery ticket is better odds. It really is a lottery and not a game.)
So let’s try explain as I understand it how this works using the numbers above for woven: Woven 1653/10,000/01:06:32
This is my understanding of how it works, please correct me if I am wrong.
The first entry is the dragon. We don’t know if there will be rift or twin versions of the dragon available, but I doubt it. The second entry is the number of shards that have been “voted” or cast for the dragon currently. The third number is the total number of shards that can be cast for the dragon. The fourth number is the time remaining to get to the third number.
You can only have a max of 50 shards at a time and you get 5 each day. You can select from 5 active dragons that are being lotteried. You may then cast however many shard you would like out of how many you have towards that dragon. When the third number of entries is reached ONE entry out of all 10,000 entries wins the woven dragon. I think if the third number is not reached before the time in the fourth number elapses, all entries to that point lose and no one receives the dragon, but all shards cast towards that dragon are refunded.
So assuming everyone bets the max amount of shards you are looking at a shot of 1 in 2000 for the woven dragon above. You would then have to wait to accrue more shards before you have a shot at even putting any shards towards another dragon (So I guess it is feasible to have 55 towards a dragon if it is available for draw long enough, but I went for easy math). You can vote (real voting, not with shards) to what dragon you would like to see in the lottery(draw) but I am not sure how long it takes to see the dragon get into the draw or how often you would have to check to see which dragons are up for bidding.
Lords of the Realm on PC said you could watch grass grow in the game and that is what Dragon Draw reminds me of.
Did I mention only 1 out of 10,000 entries is the winner?

lisgie , 😲 Seriously, that’s it! It just a raffle draw! Against thousands and thousands of other players! Oh my gosh! 🤦🏻♀️
I can’t believe it was made like such a big deal, or at least I though it was a big deal. 🙄 Now I’m thinking all the hype with the initial crash and the extra wait and all, is making it seem more than it is. And here I thought it was going to be some big addition to the game, ever since that blue shard button was added to the market.
Thank you so much for the in-depth explanation. 🙏🏻

I took a screenshot for anyone who wants to see what they're missing.
I assumed the 10,000 next to Woven was the number of shards, not 1 in 10,000 odds for winning (or course I could be wrong). Same for Zombie who needs 9,700 in order for the summoning to work. And yes, it's still similar to a raffle with one winner. But my poor Corrupticorn, it doesn't look like many people are contributing shards. He's got a long timer on him though, so maybe it'll improve by morning.
Either way, even if the odds are 1 in 10,000 I still think this is fun. It's like when I used to go to the harvest festival and enter the cake walk. Sure there were a lot of other people playing, and I didn't always win the cake I wanted. But playing the game itself was fun and I had a good time. You know what they say, winning isn't everything. It's the excitement of seeing what'll happen and having fun along the way.

When we were first informed about Dragon Draw, I requested the winning dragon be delivered through a mystery egg, so players can obtain twin and traited-twin versions of the dragon. All the Game Reps and many players have suggested this numerous times, so it may be implemented later. While Dragon Draw was in Maintenance Mode, the DV team did not make any changes to its mechanics. They only worked on fixing the bugs so it’ll function in the game.
There is no denying that using the mystery egg or letting players select twin and traited-twin versions will open up Dragon Draw to a vast majority of players. Hopefully, we’ll see this improvement in the near future.
So let’s try explain as I understand it how this works using the numbers above for woven: Woven 1653/10,000/01:06:32

The fourth number is the time remaining to get to the third number.
10,000 is the threshold amount. Each dragon has a designated threshold based on its rarity and incubation time. If the threshold isn’t met, the dragon will expire, no-one will win the dragon, and Shards are returned to the contributing players.
You can only have a max of 50 shards at a time and you get 5 each day.
Players can have more that 50 Shards at a time. As far as I can tell, there’s no limit to how many Shards you can have saved. You can only collect the free daily Shards if you have less than 50, but you can have more than 50 stored. For example, I contributed all 60 Shards I had to the Watch dragon, plus the 5 Shards I received yesterday. Watch didn’t meet its threshold, so I now have 65 Shards. Players can also purchase Shards to greatly increase their stored number.
The Shards will be reset when Dragon Draw is fully launched for all players. The number of Shards players will receive is greater during the first five weeks (tutorial = 50, first week = 25, following 4 weeks = 10), then will reduce to 5 daily. See FAQs.
If a dragon has a threshold of 2,000, you will only have a 1 in 2,000 chance of winning the dragon if you only contribute one Shard toward the dragon. The more Shards you add, the higher your chances. Players can also buy Shards to improve their odds (the purchase feature is disabled for the soft launch). There’s no limit of 50 or 55 Shards you can contribute towards a dragon. You can contribute 500 if you have them. Deca is looking at Dragon Draw as another opportunity for in-app purchases.
You can vote (real voting, not with shards) to what dragon you would like to see in the lottery(draw) but I am not sure how long it takes to see the dragon get into the draw or how often you would have to check to see which dragons are up for bidding.
As soon as a dragon has been awarded or expires, the dragon with the most amount of votes will enter the draw. There’s no time restriction, it’s all based on voting.
Did I mention only 1 out of 10,000 entries is the winner?
Only one player is selected to win the dragon, but your chances are not 1 in 10,000. Most players will contribute more than one Shard.
Keep in mind, Deca has said they may change the number of winners, so multiple people can win the dragon. And there are many tweaks they could make with the game’s mechanics. But they won’t know what needs to be adjusted until they run the game. This is the first version of Dragon Draw, not the last.
To the people feeling left out of dragon draw and drooling over the dragons you need to seriously lower your expectations and get ready for reality of how the “game” works. (I think buying a lottery ticket is better odds. It really is a lottery and not a game.)
Dragon Draw is a lottery. Deca has not concealed this in any way and has described it as a lottery. It is not a mini-game like Tap the Magic or Dragon Drop, that interacts with the player. You are submitting Shards to win a dragon; that’s it. Not everyone will like this, not everyone likes lotteries. But players are not required to play Dragon Draw, and if they’d prefer to sell the building, Deca probably won’t have an issue enabling this function.
I certainly understand the disappointment from players who have no use for Dragon Draw. Personally, I would’ve preferred to see a new feature that involved breeding over a lottery, but I still recognise many strengths and much positivity.
Firstly, Dragon Draw shows that Deca is comfortable enough with DV to create and implement new features. This is a huge turning point and opens the door for other ideas and concepts. Secondly, Dragon Draw will help increase in-app purchases, and the game desperately needs this. DragonVale is purely an event-driven game. It is completely reliant on events to keep it running. By providing another source of sales outside of events, it relieves some pressure. Who knows if this could lead to more breaks between events, but it does help the overall stability of DragonVale and hopefully its longevity.

The Dragon Draw requires some threshold of shards to be 'summoned' and one lucky person that contributed will win it. If you need 10,000 shards to 'summon' the dragon then there would be 10,000 chances (and if you contributed 50, you have a 50 in 10000 chance of winning).
Not very good odds, and not worth spending money on. However, throw in your 5 shards a day at something semi-worthwhile and you may occasionally get something back.

Oh, I get it. Thank you, adlerist . I completely understand now.
I've been to raffles before, so I see how this works (thanks to adlerist giving an in depth explanation). I remember when I took part in raffles each item had a basket in front of it. We all got tickets depending on how much money we were willing to spend. Say, for example, if you spent twenty dollars, you got twenty tickets. Forty dollars for forty tickets and so on. The more money you spent, the more tickets you got. And if there was an item you really wanted, you could dump all your tickets into one basket instead of spreading them out into a bunch of other baskets.
So the more tickets you put into the basket, the better your chances of winning. It's the same with Dragon Draw. Dump in ten shards, ten percent change of winning. Dump in 100 shards, and your chances of winning goes up beyond ten percent.
That sounds really cool. I can't wait to see how fast the bar starts filling up once this gets released to everyone. It'll be more fun then with more people playing. 😀
Edited to add: it's actually kind of fun to watch the summoning bar full up. It brings a certain level of excitement and anticipation into the game that wasn't there before. I just checked and Corrupticorn is doing better, almost halfway to it summoning point. It feels like I'm cheering on a horse at a race. I love it. 💕

We share our physical lives with those in spirit. For life, like love, never dies. Love knows no limits, not even death.
Thank you for the explanations. It's clearer now, but I now have two questions:
1. Is the draw determined by the timer or the threshold number of shards? That is, if the required number of shards is reached before the time expires, can people still add shards to get chances, or does the lottery close? This will affect the odds, if more chances/shards can be added beyond the set limit.
2. Does the maximum (non-purchased) limit in the player's shard stash apply when shards are returned from dragons that don't get drawn? That is, if I have 50 and put 10 toward a dragon, and have acquired 45 by the time the timer expires and the dragon is withdrawn, will I be refunded all 10 shards or only 5? This seems especially relevant in the first weeks, when we are given a larger number of shards per day.
I apologize, I didn’t mean to sound so negative about Dragon Draw. I like referring to it as a raffle much better than a lottery. I think that is a much better description.
The summoning circle and shard are beautiful.
I am glad to hear that there will be tweaks and you can have more shards than 50. I hope they make it attractive to all players (ability to get twins, rifts, etc.).
I was just frustrated that it was getting overhyped and tried explaining (I am not as eloquent as adlerist). I agree that DECA needs another method to generate revenue from the game, I’m just not sure this fits with a breeding game.
Thank you for the explanations. It's clearer now, but I now have two questions:

From my understanding:
1. If the number reaches max before time expires, the draw is done and a winner is announced. If the time expires, the draw is canceled and shards are returned. 2. You will be refunded 10, and have 55 shards at that point.
