Throughout the meadow and under the sweetened saplings, Kaleni was hiding the last of the eggs for the epic Egg Hunt. In a nearby clover patch, he unexpectedly spotted NIAMH. 'Niamh, I thought you left with Arcrider and Fae.' The dragon slowly looked up, 'I left for 300 weeks, which is 3 weeks in Vale time, but my curiosity for the Egg Hunt made me return.' Kaleni was surprised, 'I never thought about holiday dragons celebrating holidays other than their own!' Niamh smiled, 'St. Patrick’s is at the center of my heart, but with all this chatter about Egg Hunts, the setting has been loosened a little.'
The eternally youthful tree, Niamh, is in the co-op giving away important life lessons. Koala magic to all!
Breeding hint: MEADOW + earth + air
Breeding/incubation time: 30 hours
Status: Limited tier, 10 days
Habitats/Elements: plant, earth, air, light
Breeding odds: 1.5%; co-op clone 1%
Pro Tip #1: use MEADOW when cloning with Niamh so both breeding and cloning percentages apply, and your Niamh chances are more than doubled.
Pro Tip #2: when using Niamh’s breeding combo in the Rift, WHIRLWIND is the top earth/air dragon to maximise the Eggs you’ll receive.
Thanks adlerist. What a great looking dragon - that tail is amazing. Shame that the breeding odds are low - but it is a great breeding combo and being able to combine Meadow and Niamh in co-op for better odds is an excellent tip.
Niamh is an outstanding DragonCash earner and has bumped Quaa from first place for Plant for the best dragon to use in the Colosseum. Plus, Niamh is one of top DragonCash earning dragons (with or without boosts).

Thank you so much for adding all the Irish mythology references to this dragon in your post. I wish DECA did this in Niamh’s description. Maybe they’ll replace it with your story instead! They need to hire you to write for them! 😃
Niamh fits the Irish theme of the event so it’s sad they didn’t use this and decided to make Niamh a dragon that represents the start of spring. It’s late for spring, it should have been released last month. But an Irish mythological dragon is timeless! 🍀
I hope everyone is having a hippity and hoppity day!
For the last 10 years, I have been painting DragonVale eggs instead of traditional Easter eggs. This year was no exception. Here’s some from the collection.

I managed to breed a plant traited Niamh in the rift. Normally I dislike traited dragons, and it's always my luck that I get stuck with them when I'm not even trying for one with a trait. But having an extra touch of green with the plant trait seems kind of nice. It fits perfectly because this dragon is basically a nature spirit. Such a beautiful creature. 💚 💚💚
EDIT: Actually, now that I take a closer look at it, I realize that the traited area would have been green anyway. Just a lighter shade of green. Having a plant trait makes the green swirls stand out more. And it adds an ethereal quality to what was already a mystical forest creature, making the swirls glow slightly. My goodness, this is such a gorgeous dragon.

We share our physical lives with those in spirit. For life, like love, never dies. Love knows no limits, not even death.

wow, they're great! But I'd rather wait for them to hatch than eat them😉
Lorry has reached the end of the rainbow and has captured all the luck and gold. From this day forward, the Luck of Lorry will be legendary throughout the Vale!
Lorry, you are the champion of twins! Rainbow gems and lucky charm treats have been delivered to your door. Many, many cheers! 🍀

PSA: PURCHASE THOSE RUNESTONES AND ACTIVATE THE RUNIC BREEDING CAVES!
There’s one week left in the event, so if you’re planning on purchasing Runestones, now is the time. And if you have any Runestones left, use them now so the Runic Breeding Cave(s) will be available for the full seven days.
Also, Niamh’s Rate a Dragon thread will be released on Wednesday, 20 April, instead of Friday, so players will have a week to rate Niamh (and the rest of the dragons).

Is it safe to start spending yet? This looks like it'll be the last limited dragon, and I'm eager to purchase some habitats from the prize market.
Yes, Niamh is the final dragon of the event. Happy shopping!

These look amazing. I wouldn't want to use the eggs though and ruin the painting.

Thanks for the reminder. I had 1 Runestone still to use.
For such a simple breeding combo, Niamh is being very shy about coming to my park. I have all four caves dedicated to trying to breed one, but nothing yet. I may have to try my luck in one of the Runic Caves.
Question on Runic Caves. Why doesn’t it give us the option to collect a regular dragon if you don’t currently have one? For example, I have a couple of dragons that I bred a traited version in the rift and received a twin from the coop, but never successfully bred a regular version.
I understand the hierarchy of how the caves work: regular (if you don’t have one), then a twin, then a traited version, and finally a traited twin; however, when you already have a twin and a traited version, the caves then default to a twin traited version, even though you don’t have a plain old regular version. It would be nice if there was a way for the system to recognize that you never bred a normal version and allow you to select that instead of defaulting to a twin traited.
Niamh is such a high DC earner that I specifically bred the twin and traited version in the caves, forgetting it would only give me a twin traited version to collect ☹️
adlerist - Has this issue already been brought up in the past?

As you stated, the mystery / RBC eggs determine which version of a dragon you’ll receive based on what you own.
• don’t own the dragon = regular • own regular version = twin • own twin version = traited-twin
(The game does not recognise regular traited versions. Regular traited versions are treated as regular versions of the dragon.)
The order only goes forward
regular > twin > traited-twin
It does not go backwards, so once you own a twin, you can only receive a traited-twin. If you want a regular version, you will need to sell all your traited-twin versions and twin versions.
Backflip set up the eggs this way, and since there isn’t enough demand to justify the work, I don’t think Deca will change it. But if you want a regular version of Niamh, just breed the traited and twin together in the Vale. The cloning percentage for Niamh + Niamh is fairly high (30%), so it shouldn’t take too long (provided there’s no long Rainbow fails).
Niamh is a high DC earner, but since it can only be placed in primary habitats, which have low DC caps, it won’t earn you a lot of DC (unless you’re willing to collect every 10-30 minutes). Iden, Ocular, Portent, and Fae are far better earners, since they can reside in habitats with high DC caps. Here’s a post on DC Farming from the Help Desk for more info.

I appreciate the answer. It would be nice if they would just let use choose which version we wanted. I know, wishful thinking.
You can only have five Harmonious habitats, so it’s not viable for DC farming. Players use the large epic habitats that have no limit, like Dream, Olympus, and Treasure, put them on one island with their boosts, and fill them with the dragons that earn the most DC.

HELP WANTED: RIFT BREEDING CAVE REPAIR
Help! I've spent the past two weeks trying to breed Fae and Niamh dragons in my Rift Breeding Cave and have failed miserably. I've been breeding up through the two 15,000 E attempts and have been using level 17+ dragons, but have nothing to show for it. Clearly my RBC is broken!
Seeking an experienced RBC repair-being who is available to begin work immediately. Koalas preferred, but any being who can get the job done will be welcomed with open arms. Willing to pay Top E for the right candidate! Please apply at the Westwyrld Dragon Sanctuary administrative offices and bring references. We look forward to hearing from you!

I’ve started putting out ads and flyers for your request in all the koala communities. Hopefully, you’ll have a suitable applicant soon. The good news is you have 4.5 days before Niamh departs, so there’s still time for interviews and background checks.
