When new dragons were released in the past, I would get a video offer to watch an ad to unlock the combo hint in game. I would get it every time for new dragons, though occasionally I'd see the offer for older dragon combos (most were already unlocked) but it was often a 20 gem cost to unlock those older hints.
So far I've only seen a 20 gem cost to unlock the two new dragons this event, and no video offer. Has anyone else seen the same pattern? Was something changed with video offers and unlocking hints?
I know it's not a big deal, we all have hints from many, multiple outside resources. But I still use the breeding hints button as the fastest method to look stuff up quickly in game, especially if I'm not around my computer and don't want to swipe out of the game. But I'm not spending 20 gems on each in game hint.
I spend 20 gems for the in-game breeding hint all the time, just to get a lousy screenshot for the dragon’s announcement post. 😅
It’s not really worth 20 gems, but at this point, it’d be odd to leave out the screenshot.
For this event, so far the breeding hints have been 20 gems to unlock. Previous events would let you watch an ad or pay 10-20 gems. It’s been a mixed bag.

That's what I was thinking, something changed with the breeding hint unlocks this event and watching ads. That was the only ad I would consistently watch!
Players who participated in the original Star Fall event in 2015, may remember the Astral Spire’s seven stages and stars. With the much anticipated return of the Star Fall theme, the Astral Spire is our new award, so we will always remember to look up towards the stars.

I have three parks, all equally cared. I only pay real $$ when it comes to the RBCs, and I pay the same amount for each park. So far, in my main park (the one that I birthed from the beginning, LOL), I was unable to clone a single dragon of the three that are offered in the event market, while I was able to clone a Gravity in the other two (I like to call them "rescued" from my husband). In addition, I still lack a traited Sunstruck and a traited Midnight in my main park. I was so frustrated. Even though I treat all three the same, I still want my own park to score! When Pisceian came along, the same thing happened. Nothing in my main park, but the first rescued park bred 3 in no time. I was going to almost believe in any of the theories out there.
Then lo and behold, on the third and fourth day, I got Pisceians in all three parks, both traited and non traited!! I was so ecstatic that my husband was giving me the weird look (btw, he was happily playing his Pokemon Go.. ). I was also able to breed a traited Sunstruck in my main park (so all I need now is a traited Midnight)
Today, I got a non traited Geminian second try in the rift in my first rescued park (I think the koalas like to play in this park). Then I got the right timer in my main park, but alas, it was only the Chimneypuff..
So my point here: Just relax and play as you normally do.. have patience and a little faith, and of course tons of wine, cheese, green apples and maybe some dark chocolate.

Bred a Chomp and a Chuck, which were the only 2 dragons I was missing from last event. Now I just need the limiteds and the 2 permanent Zodiacs. This event is going pretty well.
If we’re sharing stories, here’s mine (it’s a tale of woe, tissues at the ready 😂); I only have one park, no patience or will power, I spend too much too frequently & my luck is atrocious. Once in a blue moon the koalas will tease with, for example, Gravity on the first go, a short run of luck in the rift but they don’t hang around 🐨 I purchase many more dragons than I breed, I spend days (& a shed load of ethereum) on trying for parents/grandparents with a trait but to no avail. Each event I tell myself to be patient, the dragons will come but I’m not & they don’t. Cansian is a no show despite breed after breed & so many gems 😢 Sometimes, in moments of paranoia, I think they know I’ll spend money & that’s why my breeding record is so awful but that’s nonsense (& I don’t know who ‘they’ are 😆). Perhaps one day my luck will change but in the meantime I’ll continue to enjoy the game I love, hope for more islands as the most fun is in the decorating & endeavour to have more patience (unlikely!)

My experience is similar to yours, Esme! My luck comes and goes, but I kind of expect it to so it doesn’t get me down when I have a streak of bad luck. I just wait until it changes. If I don’t have luck breeding, I can usually find luck at the race track or mini games, that helps a lot while I wait for the koalas to come back. I hope you have luck in breeding again! Just remember, we can’t have good_luck without bad luck, so bad luck is important too. 🍀

That’s weird. I updated two days ago and was getting the proper amounts from the Proving Grounds yesterday. However, today I got 48 twice so far from the Proving Grounds. Sad.

I waited to update until after the announced fix. I was getting normal amounts after the updating, but now I’m getting the reduced points (48) in the proving ground. So it’s not fixed yet…..or it broke again.
This bug is a top priority, and should be fixed soon. I’ll let players know when Deca confirms it’s been corrected. Sorry about that, I know it’s affecting players quite a bit.

Oh, no! It looks like something happened. The bug was supposedly fixed. Maybe the start of Doubles Day caused a glitch, or the problem wasn’t addressed for Doubles Day. I haven’t seen reports of the bug’s return in other DV communities. I’ll report this again, right now.
So, the Proving Grounds is not payout the correct amount, but the mini games are? The mini games were problematic earlier, maybe only they were fixed (?).

I seemed to be getting the correct amounts on Dragon Drop, but the Race Track hasn’t shown any gems for three days now, the counts for coin, treats and etherium seem normal though.

Yes, the hints used to unlock if you bred the dragon twice. I believe that functionality broke some time ago, which is why I started watching videos to unlock the hints.

Thank you so much for this and for completing the puzzle! So it appears the mini games were addressed, but not the Proving Grounds. I reported this to Deca several hours ago, right after I posted here. I’m not sure how quickly it will be fixed, since it’s the weekend. But I did tell them this bug is urgent because it’s difficult for players to earn event currency without an additional mechanism, and it’s a Doubles Weekend.
The Dragon Track is fickle. I’ve definitely had more than three days go by with no gems offered. If it reaches a week and no players receive any gems, I’ll ask Deca to look into it. But if other players do receive gems, and you haven’t, open a support ticket with Deca so they can look at your game. Cheers!

I’ll ask Deca about this. I thought they unlocked. I buy them all the time so I never noticed it was broken, because I rarely click on the breeding hints in my alt.
