Last year, amid the flurry of negative remarks following Mesmer’s release, the remarkable Hotsaucechicken posted a redesign of the Mesmer Dragon on Reddit. It garnered so many upvotes that Deca Games took notice. This year, the Deca DV Team with their wonderful sense of humour made the Mesmer redesign a reality as the evolved and upgraded Mesmerus for all the Mesmer naysayers.

1. Animation 3 It’s mostly a cool idea, but I don’t like the four eyes. The hand is gross, but the concept is funny and it's easy to ignore if you don't like it, so it gets an extra point.
2. Rift trait 4 Some traits (such as fire/light) would stick out and make it look not that great, but the placement itself is very good. I do like that the circle thing gets the trait too.
3. Size (if you don’t own Mesmerus, please check a friend’s park) 1 It’s too large. Like most recent dragons, I’m realising.
4. Price (11,000 Roses) 1 Even with the gift the price is actually 21k for anyone who didn't have Mesmer, unless Mesmer was still the most expensive dragon they wanted after the price drop (even then they'd have to buy Mesmer for a Mesmer dragon to keep). The actual price of Mesmerus is still 1 point. Five unbreedables in one event and four of the five costing over 10k EC is not fun. It’s good that the one that would be impossible to single parent clone is the cheapest (taking the 9.55k EC price), but that doesn’t change the fact they should all have been cheaper.
5. How well does Mesmerus fit the theme of the event 1 It relates neither to love nor Beauty and the Beast, unless you think of Mesmer as a beastly form and Mesmerus as a beautiful form, but that won’t be the case for everyone. And besides, if that was the intention, we already had that with Brutiful. Also, the Mesmirror was right there. Why wasn't it Mesmerus' evolution item? Not all evolution dragons have to follow the same pattern.
6. Design details 3 It’s obviously better than Mesmer according to most people (me included), so I see why people were so hyped about it and it gets an extra point, but taking the dragon individually, it's not my favourite. Its wings, tail and main body are okay, but its claws and head aren’t in my opinion. The head especially - it's very distracting and it's my least favourite part of the dragon. The colour scheme is great, however (purple’s my favourite colour, and goes really well with blue, which happens to also be my second-favourite colour), albeit the eye and the diamond are striking (that’s probably the point though), being green (would you believe it, my third-favourite colour - seriously, I love the colours of this dragon). It does look good with a water trait though, and I imagine air (and maybe lightning) would be similar.
8. How much do you like Mesmerus (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 3 I don’t like evolution dragons; they’re far too expensive. The decos should have been possible in the golden chests. Mesmerus’ design is nice, however.
Comments: I personally don’t mind multiple designs from the same person being used. If they’re good designs then they’re good designs and I want them in the game. But I know that if I did dragon designs for contests, put them forward, and the same person got three of their designs (two from contests) all in a row, I’d feel disheartened. Ultimately contests are for fun so it doesn’t really matter, but getting your own design in the game would be so cool, and then you see someone getting three of them in a row and that dream seems impossible. To clarify, I am not saying DECA made a mistake by having multiple designs by the same person, I just think they could easily have spread them out a bit more. Igluit wasn’t related to the specific theme (the Grinch) of last event and Mesmerus wasn’t related to this one at all; DECA could have updated Mesmer’s design earlier and released Igluit next winter event. (However, apparently this is an incredibly controversial view.) Plus, I do like Igloo, Ege and Mesmer’s redesign, but I don’t like Igluit, Brutiful and Mesmerus quite as much. DECA changed subtle things about hotsaucechicken’s designs (Igluit is robotic, Brutiful’s wings changed and the thorn was added, Mesmerus had small aspects of its design altered slightly) but those subtle changes are enough for my liking of a dragon to go from quite a lot to not that much. Same with Divi – Astridity’s tail and the best part of its concept (its eyes opening) were changed, and although I happen to like the in-game version a lot, I prefer Astridity to Divi. ‘You can’t fix what’s not broken’ or however that saying goes; obviously some things need to be changed for the sake of animation etc., but the things changed about hotsaucechicken’s designs and Cree’s design didn’t need to be changed, and for me it makes the dragons not as great as their original designs.
I do, on the other hand, agree with others that DECA handled the Mesmer feedback very well. I wasn't playing when it was released so I didn't see the negativity, but (assuming people aren't over-exaggerating) it was pretty darn awful. When I saw the loading screen message for Mesmer, and also when I saw the Mesmirror, I laughed. They could have let it make them bitter but they've just decided to make a joke out of it. I love that.

This is probably gonna be controversial, apologies mesmerus fans
1. Animation 3/5, I like them but the one where mesmer sticks its hand out of the portal on mesmerus' chest and mesmerus pushes the hand back is kinda unnecessary

Comments / feedback for Deca Super botched release, it really felt shoehorned in. I'm also not a fan on what this dragon is based on. Normally I don't mind dragons being based off the same thing but with mesmerus it's just too much. And mesmerus also really feels like a joke dragon when you think about what it is meant to be based on (the description and the animation with mesmer's hand sticking out of the portal prove my point). At first I thought it was funny, but then realized that deca has made the same jokes about mesmer before. I can understand the complaints for mesmer's design, but personally I don't even think it's as bad as other people think. Also, no disrespect to the artist (their art is awesome), but them having three fan designs get into the game all in a row just felt really weird to me

1. 3/5 It looks very proud of itself but I’m not sure why. I like the circles although I don’t know what they are & the hand coming out is weird & unnecessary. 2. 5/5 Love the placement & very happy mine has a fire trait. 3. 2/5 Once again Deca give us a dragon that is barely discernible to the naked eye. What are they thinking? (Waaay too big obviously 😂) 4. 2/5 🥱 Sorry but all a bit dull. If we have to have evolved dragons I like to work for it. At the very least I would have expected to be asked for bright sunlight in a nighttime setting, 6 1/2 specific treats growing & Mesmer to have been standing on one leg with its trousers rolled up 🤷♀️ I do like the idols though & will keep them out as decorations. 5. 2/5 Honestly, I don’t know what the theme is anymore. General valentines? Beauty & the Beast? (I realise this is on me though) 6. 4/5 Massive improvement on Mesmer (just too massive). 7. 4/5 Pretty impressive if a bit imposing.

Animation: 5/5 Really like when Mesmer's hand tries to protrude from Mesmerus' chest before being forced back. Trait: 5/5 Water trait looks legendary. Size: 3/5 Big, as most dragons are these days. Much bigger than Mesmer. Price: 2/5 The fact that the decorations must be purchased this event rather than from the golden bucket in the minigames make it expensive. And, if the Mesmer Dragon is needed to be purchased, it tacks on another 10k EC just for that. Theme: 2/5 I understand why it was released, but nevertheless it's more of a Sweet Dreams dragon. Detail: 5/5 Love that it stayed nearly unchanged from the original design. Preference: 5/5 hotsaucechicken did a great job with this one last year. And you guys brought it to like just like how it was pictured.
Comments: Please say this is the last of hotsaucechicken's designs for a while, I want to see some fan-inspired designs made by someone else. It's not that I hate his art (it's actually really good), rather just more of a fair chance with everyone.

Comments / feedback for Deca I wish the evolve decos were in the Name That Egg chests. That would’ve been perfect! The Mesmerus dragon is such a huge upgrade from Mesmer! I never though Mesmer could be this beautiful! I love how Mesmerus is very close to hotsaucechicken’s redesign, which so many players love. The Mesmer redesign wasn’t part of a contest, so no one should feel discouraged if it was included in the game. This is the first time DECA has added a dragon from a Reddit post and I think that’s really cool! I hope they do more of these. I love this Euryale redesign and the other day I saw this Techno redesign all by hotsaucechicken! Most players have no problem with someone having several dragons in the game whether it’s over a short period of time or over years. All players really care about is great dragons and DECA is obviously a pro. They’ve done a fantastic job of picking the best designs for the event. Keep up the amazing work, DECA! MESMERUS DRAGON
1. Animation-2 would have a 5 if I didn’t read someone’s post about the “hand”. Say what now?! I had to go back and look for it and was very unpleasantly surprised. Yuk.
2. Rift trait-4
3. Size (if you don’t own Mesmerus, please check a friend’s park)-3 pretty big but not bothersome
4. Price (11,000 Roses: 10 Idol of Hypnosis decorations @ 1,000 Roses each + 1,000 Roses to evolve)-3 UGH all this hoopla going on about the mistake release. My feeling is that it wasn’t fair to players and it wasn’t the fault of any players so I think DECA should have handled it differently. That said, you never know when you might need the idols of hypnosis in the future, so I would have bought them anyway as opposed to the 9550 roses in the market.

Comments / feedback for Deca : I really, really like Mesmerus, but I really, really don’t like the arm coming out of his chest – it is weird and unnecessary and spoils a fantastic dragon. Not a fan of having to collect ten decorations before being able to evolve Mesmer. Can we please have a separate storage shed for all the evolve decorations – something like the Altar of Alteration – so that we don’t have to have the decorations spread around the park? Players should have been given the option to purchase Mesmerus outright in the market and the Idols of Hypnosis should have been available in the mini games. Mesmerus doesn’t really fit the B&B or Valentine’s theme, but it needed to be in the same event as Mesmer. One of my favourite dragons in the event.
Congratulations to hotsaucechicken on their redesign of Mesmer and having it included in the game. Mesmerus is an amazing dragon.

It would be better if the evolve decorations are available in the mini game rewards. Or if this dragon can be released later, not during this event with 8 new dragons already.

I actually enjoy evolution dragons because I feel like it adds another aspect of the game. However, like most have said, I wish the idols would’ve been available in the mini game chests
