I’m still using the RBCs as I need the eggs. I rarely use them to breed things I’m missing, and just claim (and sell) completely random things at the end of the event. Haven’t run into any issues yet by still using them.

I was sort of thinking it might be extremely hard to get back everyone's egg history, and that is scary. If it's not possible, I do hope they give us a way to get the dragons we wanted to claim. Surely they can check how many caves were activated for each park. I won't be able to breed Equinox again, and he was one of the ones I was going to claim.
It would be pretty stinking awesome if they just gave everyone a wish for each cave they had activated, but I doubt that will happen. It would be easier on their part I assume to do that than to sift through emails listing which dragons each person wanted and checking to see that they bred them.

I think the main issue would probably be that either the eggs bred during the bug wouldn't be kept or the eggs bred before the bug wouldn't be restored (although it's not certain that will be the case, since last time I checked DECA weren't sure whether using the RBCs would cause that issue).
However, in your case, it probably doesn't matter if there's definitely nothing you want from them.

Why does the game have to pick the worst day to give the last free runestone of the event? I am not even going to use it until the bug is fixed, as it would be a waste.

As I mentioned to someone (I think on the subreddit), a wish probably isn't going to happen for two main reasons: 1. people use RBCs to get traited dragons and you can't wish for those and 2. people could wish for non-dragons or dragons they didn't breed. I only need to claim two Blue Moons from RBCs; that would give me two free wishes, totaling three. (Not to mention I couldn't actually wish for a traited one, so I'd still have 5 wishes.) End of event gifts wouldn't work because some people use the RBCs to get twins/traited-twins of dragons that aren't currently available. It may make more sense to give extra claims, but I'm not sure if that would work if people had already activated the extra claims. Plus, they'd still need to work through everyone's account to see how many claims they needed etc. Plus, if the egg history isn't restored, claims will be pointless.

Oh my! I was in a hurry when I logged in yesterday. I had 3 eggs when I went to send gifts to friends. I wondered why I was given 3 eggs that I already had the friend and rifted versions of plus the pedestals but I sold them, sent gifts, collected cash and gems and restarted everything breeding and logged out. It wasn’t until today that I had time to actually sit down and play so imagine my surprise when I noticed that all my breeds were gone in the runic caves. It is too late for me and I am sure others who just sold the eggs and went about their daily lives not realizing the uproar in our parks. It would be nice if they put something in the algorithms that make up the game that if a glitch occurs, you automatically get a dragon you don’t have instead of duplicates! I can’t understand people wanting to quit an awesome game like DragonVale because of a glitch, though! It is too much fun and sort of takes us away from the cruel and crazy world we live in for just a little while every day! Thank you DECA for a great game!

There may still be a way to get your claims back, when DECA's fixed the bug. We'll have to wait and see. I suggested that an in game notice be given about bugs like this in future, so hopefully that'll help if it's implimented. But you're so right. It's not like the game's been ruined. It's definitely annoying but it's not like anyone's at an unfair advantage because everyone's been affected, and DECA's on the case. Already people on the subreddit are asking for updates... It's only been a day! I get the frustration but what do you even want DECA to say? 😂
I know DECA are on the case and will solve this someway that will hopefully keep everyone happy. It'll be difficult to please everyone, though, and that might not happen. We just have to understand, and wait and see.
I haven't checked my alternate parks at all after dealing with my main park yesterday. But now I'm worried that I'll have to spend gems to catch up to the daily event gifts, and kind of upset about the loss of EC and breeding in my alt parks while I wait. Also, I'm not able to gift myself gems for a few days (which may not should be their concern anyway). I know everyone is dealing with that. I just hope that's something they can maybe consider in the solution.
Anyone just not playing right now? I already logged into my main park obviously, so I'm still in there, just avoiding the RBCs. The alts, I'm just plain skipping.
Edited to add: Darn, I just realized my only Flowerhop and Pixie are in my RBC, which I cannot use, so now I can't even try to breed for Bumi in my EBC. I'm trying to clone, just panicked when I realized today is the last day.

Yeah, I agree. DV is still a fun game for me. Worst case we didn’t get the eggs/dragons from the RBC that we worked hard for, it is not the end of the world. There are still new dragons and decorations from this event that I think most of us love. I understand the frustration, but I would never get angry with DECA. (When I received a defective merchandise from the giant online enterprise that starts with an “A”, that’s when I get angry..😡😤)… So I am patiently waiting for the bug to be fixed 🤞..and maybe spending more time coming here, or decorating the parks, or read, or cook? (Ha, not cook 🤣🤣)..
Anyone have any idea when this will be sorted? I claimed four dragons in the first couple weeks. Already got the other six planned (depending on how the rift breeding goes for the rest of the event.) Anyone know when this will be sorted. I've already re-bred four of the six in the Runic Caves. Either way I should have them available I presume.
I am continuing to play in all my parks, just not touching the RBCs. I think from what I have read, it is ok to continue playing. I am doing all the activities - collecting DC, viewing Tolzar, colloseum, gifting friends, etc. The only EC missing would be those generated from RBCs.

We really won't know until DECA posts an update. You just have to be patient. I would be wary about using RBCs, but I understand the worry if you've paid for some. But just be aware that it could cause issues later.

Backflip and Deca have never used a wish as compensation. A non-event item doesn’t really equate to event compensation. Event currency, gems, and dragons are more probable. But hopefully they can fix the bug and the Egg History and claims are restored.

If it cannot be fixed (both egg history and claims restored) I will be going after all the money I paid during this event and I would encourage others to do the same. Forget event currency. I have 90k as it is. I want the claims I bought for the eggs I had gotten. The only fair compensation would be money. For myself and people who had bought runestones at least.

Nearly every day I enter my game at reset time and do all my daily activities including gem & treat sending. So on the day of the glitch I had gone into the game & started new RBC breedings before I had read not to - The good news is I had already claimed all the available dragons I wanted before the glitch which meant I had no random gifted runic dragons waiting in my gifts.
I have continued to play the game as though there was no glitch and using the RBCs that are active - I’m writing off the fact I would have claimed another of the dragons that has disappeared from my choices in the runic cave that I have yet to activate with today’s daily gift.
If I manage to clone the Classical Dragon I’m currently trying for I will activate a breeding spot and immediately claim the rifted version. Just in case when the fix happens it replaces the choices I have bred since the glitch.

There's no 'too much' when it comes to compensation for issues in games. It's all up to Deca and how much they want to keep good will with their players. I play a lot of mobile games, and bugs like what we're seeing in DV with the Runic Caves is a fairly common occurrence. It's part of the industry, especially when you have smaller development and testing teams, problems come through and sometimes they're have large implications on gameplay.
Most of those companies are extremely generous once things are fixed. For example, one game I played recently had a bug that prevented some players from playing a weekend event. They couldn't get it fixed until later in the weekend, so they gave out as rewards all rewards from completing the event to all players. And then a little bonus on top of it. It doesn't hurt them at all, it makes players happy, and it keeps players playing their game. That's significantly more important than making short term gains on sales to most companies.
I'm sure they want to figure out how to fix it before working out how to compensate players. If they can fix everything and get our RBC breeds back in the next day or two, most of us would just be happy with a few extra days of the event to give us back RBC time. If we lose everything, they may need to give us a level of compensation that we've not yet seen in DV. But the focus will always be on fixing it before compensation is even considered.
Edit: They hopefully will consider keeping Bumi available past tomorrow, until things are fixed, so that players who were breeding for it in the RBC can get their dragons back and get a few more tries. They've been known to have two limiteds available at the same time, so that's not unprecedented.
Perhaps the easiest way to fix/compensate for this bug is to create a new event - Oops event. The Oops event have RBC with all the vernal and Thawsome dragons available and everyone is gifted runes equal to the amount gifted/purchased. Now what would an Oops dragon look like?

I bought runestones to get specific twins and had more to choose from than I could claim. Unfortunately this hit before I cashed any in. So I’d need the history back or more runestones to try again, and it would be nice to know if it is fixable very soon.

14 hours until the next new dragon… i have traited dragons for one of the expected breeding pairs, but if it’s Minchi+Stoneshell then I’ll be pining for the traited ones I was expecting to collect from the Runic Caves. Will the history be restored in the next 14 hours? Not looking good right now. 😢
