Perhaps even some combination of Manticore (Persian) and Lamassu (Sumerian), both of which are Sphinx-like (Greek/Egyptian) creatures. I always like to try to figure out where Deca gets the names of their dragons if I can!
Now to focus on breeding some...

Deca should consider making Mantasu into an enhancement dragon and then selling flea collars for use in the Alter of Alteration. It looks unhealthy the way Mantasu keeps scratching itself with its pointy end.

For all I know, the terrible heat from its native region has given the poor dragon some terrible eczema and/or dandruff. I would not doubt that its skin is dry as can be.

It was midday in the midsummer when MANTASU reached the Sandara Desert. The journey through the mountains was long and lonely, so Mantasu was surprised to see Veezir bounding towards him across the desert floor. By the time Veezir reached the dragon, he was out of breath and could not speak. So the dragon began, 'I am Mantasu. I travel each midsummer to find a home. But it has been 1,127 years, and I have not found a land to call my own.' Veezir looked down, 'I am sorry, few will consider the desert a refuge. The sun and weather are no comfort; it is relentless. The air is brazen and feverish like fire. It burns the eyes and dries the soul.' Mantasu smiled for the first time in 1,127 years.

Love the Mantasu dragon, and was able to breed him on 2nd try in the rift. YES!!!
I'm not having much luck breeding except for that and accidentally breeding a ton of element-required dragons in the rift while trying to breed a chromacorn. I'll take it!

I’m was trying to work out why it didn’t sound right - manatsu まなつ is the word for midsummer, this is just a slight tweak for DV

This may be a dumb question but I’m going to ask anyway 😊 Since I’ve yet to breed a Mantasu dragon, am I better off pairing 2 dragons such as Lodestone and Sandstorm in the CBC, or pairing Mantasu with an elder or a dragon containing some of Mantasu’s elements in the CBC? I’ve checked out the Sandbox and compendium but I’d appreciate comments from forum members. Thanks.

Use Mantasu. You'll get combo and cloning odds, so it's automatically got better odds than any combo that doesn't involve Mantasu. Mantasu's Co-Op cloning odds are 10%, so you'll be increasing the odds by 10% which is a lot. If you can, I'd suggest using elders. If you can't or don't want to then it's generally suggested to use a dragon that doesn't add extra results and that has a low incubation time - so Sandstorm would be a good shout here. Adlerist's post also suggests Iron or Magnetic. (Adlerist's post about the dragon always has suggestions for cloning, often given by MinyaZ and I think also sometimes other people.)

Mantasu must be well adapted to a dry environments, the pokey thing on the tail being a way to spread oil though the hair/fur to prevent dry skin problems. Maybe remove sand too. I haven’t seen Mantasu using it as a toothpick.
Shackles, oh no! I’m calling them malachite bracelets. BTW The rift produced one within 4 tries using scoria and cyclone. There were no hints up yet here or sandbox, so went with any level 20 hybrids that had the required elements. That one went to the Co-op cave to be bred with another Mantasu any it only took a few tries to get a second-plus one for a pedestal. Maybe magical thinking on my part but I seem to have the most luck if I am ready to play as soon as a new dragon appears in my event market …maybe DECA wants to get a few into circulation quickly to lure other players!?!

A little while ago, I bred Hanno in a small park while breeding Rainbows. Since I still need both Hanno and Kann in my main park, I decided to breed my main park's Sun dragon with my small park's Hanno dragon, and then bred the Hanno with Sun in the small park.
I got Kann first try in my small park, which was a nice surprise since it meant I can easily clone it whenever I want. But that's not all!
THE KANN WAS A TWIN!
This is the second time (apart from twin weekend) when I've managed to get a twin of a dragon I don't yet have with my main park. They don't show up very often but I love this breed of koalas.
(Anyone know what type of treats they like? Asking for a friend...)

There might be a cactus decoration already, although it is just one type. A second type of cactus (those little round ones) would do great in making the desert more varied.
And tumbleweeds would be a good idea too. However, I do not know how difficult it would be to implant those, rolling around all over the place like they do.

When I think of desert island it is really a deserted island; sandy beach, easily climbable hills, lush vegetation, waterfall …oh and a friendly monkey and parrot. Coconuts, pineapples, crabs, and fish. How I ended up there would preferably be non-traumatic with everything I needed to get food etc. The only thing it doesn’t align with is reality.
I started DragonVale as a collector, became a decorator, and then added being a Visual Storyteller. For co-op friending my ID is GKVale # 4024

Will Loot stay until the end of the event, or will it leave when Jackpot leaves on the 21st? I am just curious if players will have time until the end of the event to get one (if they have not bred one already).
