The "I HATE THE (but would love to have the) RUBY DRAGON COMPETITION" is a race to be last to breed the Ruby dragon. The looser (the last person in the race) to get the Ruby dragon receives a gem from all the participants; a meagre reward for the pain of being last.

Don't give up when it comes to gems- I know when it was Emerald. I got 4 on the last breeding day. Just kept getting them, same with a friend of who plays. I think she got 5 that day. Boom!
Good point. Maybe it's enough that most ppl wouldn't want to be last, and that the folks on this forum are awesome?
We will just have to have faith that everyone is honest!!!! And the fact that at anytime we can always take a peek!!!!

Police was probably the wrong word. I can sort of see why it's important to try and keep the playing field level, but I've been breeding for Malachite/Pollen in the Cave and for Ruby on the Island. Should that make me ineligible to enter the comp? And what about "continuously"? What if I'm not as diligent as reloading my caves as some? Not to mention that I'm not spending gems to speed up fails so I'm not going to have as many chances on day 1 as a lot of other people.
It just seems that it will be hard to have a lot of rules in place.

Ivana, Phibes, any luck in either of your parks getting a ruby? I'm still,breeding fireworks, scorches, fireflies, and anything but.
I got a ruby the first day but no luck since then I keep getting everything but - including 2 freaking rainbows.😃😃 (sorry for the newbies, who would be thrilled to get rainbows, but when you already have a few , the last thing you want is a 48 hour)

So can I join in this too? I've had no luck breeding for a ruby still.... another blazing (at least not another FW!) and another FW.... since I'm still missing some of the dragons I sometimes put something that may go overnight in one of my caves in at night but all day I try for that ruby....

Will do. Just set them breeding and got another FW and a rainbow. Elusive little ruby!
I refreshed my breeding habitats this morning and have a forge and copper cooking. No more breeding for me today
