Summer has carried on into the deepest depths where the City of Atlantis thrives in the dark waters and mesmerising creatures. Enjoy the secrets hidden from the sun with the City of Atlantis snugly tucked away on your profile. With its shell-shaped turrets and swirling Gaudi design, the City of Atlantis is home to the odd, terrifying, and oddly terrifying sea dragons that land dwellers have never known. The city and its inhabitants can be housed on your profile and forever perpetuate a deep-sea curiosity. Simply rate all the dragons before the event concludes on 21 August and unlock the mystery of the deepest depths.
Since we have completed three years of Rate a Dragon there are now three previous summer awards to offer. Instead of the City of Atlantis, you can choose the Pyramids from last year’s Dunes of Magic, the Ikatako Keg (Inconspicuous Barrel) from Pirates in Paradise II, or the Jolly Roger Dragon from Pirates of Paradise. So many options! After you’re done rating the Deepest Depths dragons, message me, and the Pyramids, Ikatako Keg, or Jolly Roger Dragon will be added to your profile instead.
AWARD RULES
1. You must be a Forum member to receive an award because guest profiles are not retained.
2. Awards will display on your Profile page and mini profile. To see the awards, you’ll need to view the Forum in its desktop version since the mobile version does not support many features, including the full mini profile.
3. Awards will be permanent, but if you do not want them or would like them removed, just let me know.
4. If you prefer to not post publicly, you can message me your dragon ratings before the event concludes, and you will still receive the award.

5. Rate Shelly’s design 3.5 would've benefited from more than two main colours imo, and it'd be nice if it was styled after the mini game building, but it's perfectly okay

How would you rate Shelly’s breeding combo (SCUTTLE + water + metal) 5 water + metal is clearly there because of Conch, but I am glad Conch specifically wasn't required because, while its odds are better than Scuttle, it's still a rare hybrid, so this combo is definitely accessible to new players
7. How much do you like Shelly (1 = I hate it, 5 = I love it!) 3.5 my least favourite clone-only as I don't find it particularly memorable but it's fine

Comments/feedback for Deca: If this dragon is of the family of a hermit crab, I prefer its parent Scuttle a lot better. I like its transparent glassy wings, which reminds me of sea glass. Other than that, I really don’t care for its color combination nor shape. The movement is a bit mechanical for me.
1 - I hate, hate, HATE the reuse of the Bogberry Dragon's animations. It makes absolutely no sense for the Shelly Dragon and the design was clearly not created with that animation in mind. Shelly's head separates from its body and exposes its unfinished neck and the bouncing of what is supposed to be one of Bogberry's berries doesn't work when there's no corresponding part for Shelly to bounce on its nose. I also already didn't really vibe with Bogberry's movements as they made me uncomfortable but with a dragon made to be a lot less flexible it just looks terrible. Also because it reuses Bogberry's animations, it inherited the weird stall/stutter Bogberry has when flying which I think might be a bug or something but has never been "fixed" if it is.

If you're going to reuse animations please make sure they work with the dragon's design, or at least that the dragon isn't breaking the laws of physics (dragon physics).

Comments/feedback for Deca: Baby Shelly and baby Sipho could be first cousins. They are very similar. I like that Shelly breathes shells as part of its breath. The wings are interesting, very boxy looking and not the usual dragon shaped wings. The colours used look great on Shelly. I’m not sure about the shell around its midriff. It makes it looks awkward and cumbersome when flying. Scuttle will need to be added to this event next year so that Shelly can be bred.

1. Animation: 1/5, Usually I'm not too harsh on reused animations if they suit the dragon and are applied carefully, but isn't this dragon covered in hard shells? This is the wrong time for squash n' stretch! Is it because shells are sometimes spiralled like springs??
2. Size: 3/5, it's HUGE! The size doesn't lend much credence to the idea of it collecting washed up seashells, but it's saved by my curiosity of what on earth made a shell that big, and how funny it is to imagine one casually rolling up on shore.

5. Rate Shelly’s design: 5/5, Absolutely lovely beach-like colours, great use of simplicity to make a nice calming impression. The watery-wings coming out of nautilus shells is super interesting, creative and fun! It's one of the most creative wing designs, I love them! The shells of all types integrated all over the body add so much detail, but the colour scheme keeps it all cohesive and on theme. The face is also super friendly-looking. I would love to help this dragon find some shells to add to its collection
6. Breeding combo (SCUTTLE + water + metal): 5/5 Scuttle + conch is perfect! But not using conch specifically makes it much more accessible, so I can see why just its elements were used.
7. How much do you like Shelly: 4/5, On top of being creative, it's so cute! I love hermit crabs (I'm a big fan of Scuttle!) and this is such a cute interpretation. I only wish it had some original animations to really sell the concept; maybe a little hiding animation in the shells like a more complex, higgledy-piggledy hermit crab as opposed to scuttle? Actually, this being an aquatic hidden element dragon would be perfect!

I had a Bogberry farm with 84 Bogberries from 2018, so you’re not going to slip that distinct animation by 😉. Bogberry is a dragon composed of loose berries. Shelly is a pasta dragon (uncooked pasta), so the animation wasn't going to be fluid.
Even though Scuttle isn't a part of this event, he is the only other pasta dragon in the Vale; thus, he is a great fit for the breeding combo. So, I don't mind Scuttle's addition to the event, especially since his breeding hint is all elements. But why is the metal element in Shelly's breeding combo? If you're going to have metal and water as the two elements added to the combo, why not use the Conch dragon, which is based on a shell and has the water and metal elements? Scuttle + Conch — perfect!
I’m not terribly fond of the small shells attached to Shelley’s body and wings. They look like barnacles, and it reminds me of those poor sea turtles covered in barnacles taking advantage of the free ride. Plus, they make the design a little busy.
At the end of the day, Shelly is a cutie pie. The baby is especially endearing. He looks like he's wearing a cosy rigatoni sweater!
