Update: still no peridot. Thanks for all the gems!
I sent you a gem this morning mishkasmom!
Thanks, lostgirl. I hope your luck isn't as bad as my daughter's. She didn't get a Ruby til the next to last day. Better try the yogurt/blueberry method.
I have some tremendous news. The BFS wizards woke me from my sleep this morning around 6am (actually, my 19 month old did, but same difference). I discretely got DV going without waking my wife, swept the coffers, and through C and C into the epic breeding island and scored a Peridot!!
My kids are sleeping over at my parents' tonight, so there is no way my son can display this one.
I feel as though I can finally relax a little and try to get some other dragons for a change.
Btw - please keep us posted, lostgirl. Let's see if you can get a new DVC record for unluckiestness.
Yaay! Did you then wake up your wife w your celebrating???
I got one on Friday but haven't had a chance to come in and share! Will send a gem to Lost Girl when my tree is ready (will send a GCID friend request now LG)
Update: since keeping all my failures as display eggs, I counted 47 attempts to get Peridot since August 3rd.
From now on, I'll be displaying all my failures when attempting dragons for this comp just to keep better track. Such a Fabulously Gay Idea; thanks again Rox.
Fabulously Gay! I love it ;D But I must confess, debstoy actually coined the idea in this thread before I. But what are Fabulously Gay ideas for, but to share.
Way to go on the Peridot!
Hey that rhymes when you say it, even though it doesn't look like it.

This may come as a shock to some of you but not everyone participating on DV and this forum are adults. Tanyon is 8 years old and does not have the "in's and out's" of public forums and relies on dad to help him out.
Together, we read the original rules, it was not stated that both caves had to be used exclusivly, from the get go, for the contest. Because of this, Tanyon wanted to make sure he got his Olympic dragons before the time ran out for the Olympics, we both assumed they had a time restriction.
Once we found out that was not the case, Tanyon changed from only using one cave for Peridot to both. He finaly got his Peridot a couple days ago and has the egg sitting in incubation right now. Imagine the 8 year olds reaction when he got on and saw " DQ, has been using both caves for Olympus since Aug 1, not responding to PMs"
He has no idea what a "PM" is and I can assure you that "cheating" was not his objective!
He will gladly live up to his end of the bargain and be sending a gem to the winner, even though he was "disqualified".
Just to recap Not everyone on DV and this forum are adults!

Oh boy, no one meant to hurt Tanyon, he is such a shining light around here. Have to admit to some confusion regarding this comp because of not knowing whether the Olympus was limited, or not. Several people were dq'd based on doing one's best to use both breeding spots, but am sure it was much harder on Tanyon because of his age. I feel so badly for him. Tell him I'm so sorry.
Myke is taking suggestions for September's contest to hopefully avoid just such confusion in the future when we might have multiple limited dragons at the same time. I am very sure he would welcome your comments and take them to heart.
Please tell Tanyon he didn't do anything really wrong, and no one thinks he was trying to cheat. Let him know the grown-ups are working on it and we will do our best next month. We want him to sign up again, but don't want him to win the contest. We hope he gets a dozen of the new gem. He is a total winner every day in our book.
Congrats Myke on your peridot. So that really does make lostgirl the los...er I mean winner. I got my 2nd peridot on my nest and either a seasonal or rainbow breeding. I'm on pins and needles in anticipation of which one it is.
I have mad e the last (no. 7) island my loser island and will be displaying all the fails for xyz dragons. I didn't think of saving until after I sold a bunch but I think you still got my beat, but then it depends on the amount of crystals you got. Seemed like all of mine were crystals. Lol. Not reall but felt like it when I was waiting for them.

Oh boy another being a loser contest to win! You can count on me. Still no peridot. Stoopid dragons.

I'm sorry for upsetting you and your son.
As I've admitted several times in this thread, the confusion about the rules is my fault.
That being said, I had to DQ Tanyon because for several days I found him using neither cave for the Peridot competition. I didn't like doing it. But there was no way for me to get in touch with either Tanyon or yourself, though I tried.
No one accused Tanyon of cheating. For my part, I assumed he forgot he had signed up.
There isn't much more I can do for you other than apologize, send a make-up gem, and promise to do a better job with the competition rules in the future.
Hah, I should have joined cause i still don't have one grats lostgirl!
I still don't have one. At least you might have been competition, everyone else stampeded toward the Peridot. LOL
Now that I won the gems I'm going for the infamy! I'm gonna set a record for gem dragon fails. I tried all July and no Ruby. Let's see if I can try all August and get no Peridot.

Woot woot you go lostgirl. With that kind of thinking you will be sure to get one. I used that reverse psychology and got not only one but have my second one in the nesting box. I'm not expecting grumpybutt before it hatches so a Myke accident won't happen.
