No. You need pure Metal + Plant Hybrid to make Malachite. But Metal + Flower/Poison can give Malachite or Gold. Metal + Lichen/Evergreen can give Silver or Malachite.
I've been doing cold + mine to try for silver....so far I've been "raking" in the coins from my numerous mine eggs. Trying to breed regular hybrids for later breeding pairs in one cave and silver in the island. Maybe one day.

I'm afraid there is no combo that gives you a chance at all three.
Ironwood will have to bred on its own. Plant+Chrome is your best bet.
Sun and Seasonal = Butterfly+Lichen/Evergreen, with an average fail time of about 8hrs 20min. Make sure your i-device's time is set to between 7am and 7pm in order to get a Sun (as opposed to a Moon).

Thanks That ironwood is being quite elusive, so was the malachite he took weeks for me to get. dang you plant/metal dragons!!
I was doing mine plus plant for ironwood or a bonus steel since I never got a pair. It worked perfectly- I got a first steel. Then, I got a silver... Oups. Forgot that was a possibility! Now the ebi is clogged for the sapphire release.

Cool. I'm psyched.
Of course, now I'm worried I used my up lucking breeding karma by accident because I can't even seem to breed a RAIN dragon in order to start the Sapphire. Doh!

Plant + Panlong will give you a slightly shorter average fail time of 7 hours 25 mins or so, but you're losing out on the earnings of the Panlong, so I'd suggest sticking with Mud+Blazing and Lava+Fog/Rain with an average fail of 8 hours exactly.

Thank you Fletch! I did notice that pinch in earnings while I tried my Pan with a Water. I have Mud in the EBS as a fail for Sapphire. My Lava+Fog pair keep giving me Scorch eggs, so I will try Mud+Blazing when my Mud eggs hatches.
Correction: Lava+Fog keeps giving me Blazing, not Scorch

Interesting question. In order of longest fails (by my reckoning)
Lightning + Earth gives an average of 15 hours. Metal + Fire gives an average of 14.5 hours. Cold + Earth is Mountain for 14 hours. Metal + Earth is an average of 13 hours. Plant + Earth is an average of 13 hours. Metal + Lightning is an average of 12 hours. Metal + Cold is an average of 12 hours Metal + Water is an average of 12 hours.
The thing about adding 3 or more elements is that it tends to equalise things out more because you have long and short fails.
Metal + Lightning + Earth can give you Magnetic, Copper, Iron, Scoria, Quake and Crystal for an average of 13 hours 20 mins.
Metal + Fire + Lightning + Earth can give you Magnetic, Copper, Iron, Scoria, Quake, Crystal, Brass, Forge, Firefly, Scorch and Lava for an average of 11 hours 33 mins.
Now that my sapphire hunt has ended, I'm back to catch up with missing dragons. I still need an Olympus and a Sun - should I stick to Mountain + Sonic or is there any other combo I may try? Thanks a lot for the help
