Welcome to Xi'ialoa (SHE-ee-al-wah), a Super-Earth terrestrial world far, far away where carbon-based lifeforms breathe hydrogen following an evolutionary line completely different from that of Earth. Organisms reminiscent of giant fungi fill the evolutionary niche of plants, and complex life thrives in both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. I have been crafting this world and the science behind it for the past month, and I’m very excited to share this initial version in website form with you all. I plan on updating the website with new organisms and landscape drawings regularly, and I am completely open to any feedback/discussion. Visit Background and Anatomy (under Life) for the hard science, visit Life for the planet’s creatures, or visit Geography for maps and continents galore. I do hope you enjoy this project of mine.

You had mentioned this project, OboeKade, but I didn’t realise it’d be so, so, so detailed! It’s extremely well-imagined and inventive. I love the Phylogenetic Tree, and the image of Geanta under the Fauna Portal! You’ve done a remarkable amount of research to put this together, along with a ton of creativity.

I like Willowglade! But Everfrost is pretty perfect!
When I clicked on the link, I didn’t notice the title of the song. Listening to it, I immediately felt a cool, winter glow about it. It wasn't until after the song was over that I noticed it’s called Everfrost. And I thought — that’s perfect! It just sounds like the music falling snow would make, if falling snow made music.

I do plan on adding color! Once I have at least two genera from every major faunal class I expect I'll begin to revisit my past drawings and add color where necessary... but that'll still be a bit longer based on how long it took me to finish Mitsukaspis and Oculocygnus

I imagine it playing as background music if there was a movie about DragonVale and it had the scene where Nogard discovers the Alpenglow dragon. He's been lost in the chaos of the Rift for days on end when suddenly, as he's beginning to lose hope, an orange-red glow fused with the dark purple of the Rift appears on some floating debris. Then an Alpenglow dragon appears out of the darkness, and lights the way home.
