Thanks to those who mentioned the egg pedestal was so cheap! Couldn't afford to buy the dragon with gems, but getting the egg out of the way is a big plus.
The price is so cheap it's almost silly not to get the egg pedestal (unless you, you know, just like to breed dragons)
Lots of long fails, but also the shortest fails as well, which are actually more probable (cactus, flower, poison, firefly, scorch, pepper, ash, lichen)

Currently breeding for whatever twins I can possibly get my hands on

I generally don't mind breeding the second (or third), it's the first one that drives me up a wall. But with the Dark release yet to come, plus the next batch of the anticipated Light hybrids, plus a possibility of a December Bring Em Back event (I never got the Bearded Dragon), eh....the display for that cheap was an easy decision. Too many other dragons to breed in the next few months.

In my #2 park I caught two 48-hours.

Same here. Bought one out, but I'm not going to be able to do that again.

Both the Amber egg and Jet egg are a steal at 30 gems. I mean, it takes nearly 60 gems to get the egg otherwise - and that's if you get it on the first go!!
With all the possible long fails, it's a no brainer IMO. Bought it straight away. I won't actually start breeding for the dragon until probably mid January though...
Actually, just regarding how 'cheap' the egg is to buy - here is some food for thought.
At level 50, you can trade gems for ~$700K per gem (in batches of 50 gems). So the 30 gems is costing you just under $21m.
Now, breeding for profit, the most you can realistically earn per day is about $7m (this may change with the full release of light/dark, but is probably conservative at this point).
So in short, if you get your egg in less than 3 days (INCLUDING the 30 hour incubation), you are better off breeding it. I'd say this is highly unlikely.
Then there is also the issue of clogging up your nursery for 30 hours (which may or may not interrupt the rest of your breeding).
So it isn't necessarily a no-brainer I guess, but it is still a very good deal and I'd easily pay the 30 gems rather than take the risk of getting it taking more than 3 days. After all, just one epic fail and you'd already have been much better off just buying it.
After looking into it myself here is what I found:
'the thunderer': 1. "The Thunderer" is one of John Philip Sousa's marches 2. Zeus/Thor related for their control over thunder.
Vineam Sorec: From the dutch Wikipedia:
Vineam Sorec was een pauselijke bul, uitgevaardigd in 1278 door paus Nicolaas III, waarmee opgeroepen werd tot de bekering van joden tot het christelijk geloof.
Translated it would be the name of a 'Papal Bull' issued in 1278 by Pope Nicolas III, calling out to the Dominican Order & Franciscan. They had to train their priests into converting Jewish people to Christianity. Some more info:
A papal bull is a particular type of letters patent or charter issued by a Pope of the Catholic Church. It is named after the lead seal (bulla) that was appended to the end in order to authenticate it. Papal bulls were originally issued by the pope for many kinds of communication of a public nature, but by the 13th century, papal bulls were only used for the most formal or solemn of occasions.
No idea if any of this all would be related but just wanted to share my findings.
^ the only reason not to do it is for the satisfaction in breeding it, imo. :-)
Absolutely, just like it is so much rewarding to carry the newly bought washing machine to the first floor through the staircase and not taking the elevator ....

That is what I would do. Why take an elevator to the first floor? And since you are always supposed to keep washing machines on the ground floor, there is no need to take an elevator to any other floors.
I'm the kind of person who really does use stairs most of the time even with a heavy load. I'm also the kind of person who won't buy the egg or dragon. That would definitely diminish my enjoyment.
I love my vine dragon avatar created by ElektronX. Now, if only BFS would add it to the game...

Well Viviane, taking that to it's logical conclusion, you must think it is better to hack the game, get unlimited gems, and just buy every dragon you want rather than breed it?
