Just went and looked at them message onconeofx my kids parks. It says the Rift is staying open and weird things might happen. Doesn't specifically say that the island is staying. This may be related to the Sorec Legendary Dragon.
I interpreted that as the explanation why the various other light/dark hybrids can't bred yet. The wizards have to rediscover them yet.

Glad to have my landing screen back, but it opens on a wide shot of my island and the landing habitat doesn't have the impact it once did. Hopefully that's just another hold over from the Rift Island, and they'll fix that up soon.

The Ourebos is no longer the ugliest dragon--that dubious honor is now claimed by the Cave dragon. It is horrible! I'm not even sure I can handle one in the HC, let alone put one on display in a habitat. I'd like to send it back through the Rift!

Earnings? They all changed in version 2.0 there used to be a resource intensive table for each dragon that showed their earnings. They have replaced that with level 1 earnings and an incremental increase that is the same for all dragons. What did it earn before?

I think the Cave dragon looks appropriately "cavey" but it is dang ugly. Nightshade, while very colorful, reminds me of an alien movie from the 50s....or maybe a Sleestak from Land of the Lost (Saturday morning TV show in the 70s)

I have seen this artwork in the Rjiksmuseum in Amsterdam. It is a very imposing work, taking up most of a wall. It is this painting that Terry Pratchett based his 'Men at Arms' Discworld book on.
There are also the Watchwhers of Anne McCaffrey's Dragons of Pern series. They guarded the weyr and hold at night.
And also the Night's Watch in GRR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, guarding the Wall from the White Walkers and worse...
