Spent most if the first few days concentrating on LYD then kept breeding them for habitats and display. If I only knew my most common fail going for Emerald would be LYD, Sun and Moon. Pretty comical but it's been a fun holiday season none the less!

Ok this is not funny... When are the yellow trees going to be yellow again??? They are still labeled as yellow trees in the market but they are very obviously GREEN. It is cramping the style of two of my islands... I was hoping it was a glitch and they would fix it but they haven't changed back yet!
... Really should've read this forum over the last few days. Completely forgot about the pop-up news thing saying about the gift dragon. Now i hear he costs 250 gems... fudge! (please excuse the language).

It is by design, unfortunately. Read the description for the tree.
Trying for my second leap year and wondering is the rainbow and leap year my best bet? So far I'm getting a lot of rainbow fails.

No ma'am. 1 in 10 chance of getting a LYD that way. Keep throwing in combos with 4 or more elements. I've bred about 6 of them since the limiteds were released, most of them as fails trying for other things.

It's the winter color I guess it will be there a while...
As suggested by the sandbox i tried lichen and flower on the island looking for my second gift and scored another lichen. Threw gift and plant into the cave for grins because it worked for poppy and viola. Gift number two on its way. No if i could only get my second platinum after a hundred plus rusts ill be all set and i can go back to fixing up my egg display.
I recommend to breed your platinum with a Gold or Silver in order to get a second Platinum. My first Platinum took forever but my second one I got it at first try with Platinum/Gold. Hope it helps.

Yes try this combination. It should be a 1 out of 3 chance to getting another platinum.
There is only one combo for sapphire (as for all gemstones) Mountain and Rain.
That said this has been a great xmas present! I've been super lucky and gotten all of the dragons I've been coveting. Even a Ruby and Sapphire back to back! Not even complaining about extra LYD fails!

That awkward moment you realized that you remembered your breeding pair wrong...after you've been using this incorrect breeding pair for two days. -____- Whoops! Well, whenever I finally get this steel dragon out of there, it'll be back to using something that actually works.

Finally got my Sapphire (for egg display) after five days of fails! I can now move on to Peridot.
Congrats! After 5 days of fail for emerald i moved on to another one :S
Today I got 4 bone fails trying for Sakura. Why are there 3 10-hour dragons for this combo? You don't know you have failed until the egg appears. It's frustrating! *whine*
On Christmas day, I showed my father in-law how to play dragon vale. He created an account saying "I go check my emails every day, why not check on dragons at the same time? A few minutes should be enough..." Well, I don't know if we have the same minutes, but he's already level 10 with 2 islands! I'm afraid he's now addicted
