I'm interested to know if anyone has successfully bred a Platinum drgagon in the cave, or only on the island?
With no success in either location, I'm thinking of breeding the extra golds, rainbow and leap years to fill the enlarged habitats, in the cave, while plodding on trying for platinum on the island.

I got IT yesterday, Rust+Quicksilver (both at level 11) after 15 tries in the cave and on the island. Don't remember where it finally was successful.

Cecilia, success can occur in either location with the island having a slightly higher chance than the cave.
I appreciate the encouragement from those who have succeeded in breeding their Platinums. I must have had well over 100 fails so far - with quite a few gems + Kairos to speed things along a bit.
A friend bred her second one with Quicksilver and Swamp, so I've tried that over the past couple of days, but with three long fail Quicksilvers from that combo, I've gone back to Quicksilver/Rust on the island and Rust/Water in the cave.
Will take a break when the new gem dragon comes out - but I REALLY want a PLATINUM!!!

I'm in the same position, though I've taken a break for a bit to get some of the limited dragons. I was easily able to get the Leap Year dragon. The second apocalypse was more of a trial but I finally got it yesterday. So, I will go back on the hunt for the platinum, well for the remainder of today and until the new gemstone comes out. I guess it's always good to have something you still need to accomplish, right? I did manage to finally crown my first dragon. I do still need to complete my egg display, which is in complete disarray.

I finally got my second LYD and then very soon after the third for display. I think I have the second emerald breeding for display. That means I will finally have the full set with pairs and displays. It feels like a marathon has been run. koala to everyone on Their breeding. It's taken me over a year to get this collection.

If you're only trying for Platinum, you really need to stick to Metal/Water + Rust/Quicksilver or Rust + Quicksilver to avoid the long fails. It's the same % chance no matter what pairing you use so you're better off having a lot of Rust fails that are quick so you can try again. I had Metal + Rust going in one cave and Water + Quicksilver going in the other for a while there. Nothing else you can do but keep trying.
Does the gift leave on Jan 2nd as well? I haven't even tried for that yet. Got a second apocalypse but still no LYD!
Don't think they have given an end date for the Gift dragon yet, would think it would be early in January but exactly when, no idea. Hoping for some warning before it makes its' exit.
