The squiggle thing is called a tilde. Because it starts with the letter T, landing it in the latter half of the alphabet, it is alphabetized after Z. A bracket starts with B and a dash starts with D, so they get alphabetized earlier. Isn't the English language weird that way? That's what makes it so interesting.
