Came here from your link in the Winter Event thread. I'd missed your line about the (Double) Rainbow fails, but it looks like you should be adding "BeB: Leap Year" to 1 + 1 and 3 + 3? Good catch I'll go fix the Forecast too... Cool! I've been tagged in a post dated before I joined the forum...

Many of these dragons are permanent and therefore of minimal concern during BeB. I am also removing Leaf since you can get another one at any time since you already have one due to the Epic Cloning Rules. The core list is therefore: Nightmare - ABYSS + HOWL is a locked combo, so there's no options here. Save this one for later. Light Rift/Dark Rift - Any combo with Dark and Light. You need Abyss and Shadow still, so Light + Ooze can work and will have four of your target dragons Century - try Mountain + Ooze. Fails include Abyss, Ruin and Crypt. If you get your Abyss from either of the previous two combos you can try for Nightmare. Bicentennial, Celtic - You can double up by going for these with Rose + Storm, but there are a lot of long fails in that mix and I on;t think you need any other dragons that that combo can produce.. Extremely helpful thank you! And I didn't know I could get a leaf anytime! FYI-8 days later and ZERO success STILL no century. Lots of moons and blue moons, arctics and geodes none of which I needed. Have spent over 200 gems on speed ups...at least I now have an outside chance st a dragonssi bush. Huge sigh!

Still plugging away trying to get Dusk with the sun/moon combo. I thought breeding was time sensitive, but I have gotten 2 suns even though they were bred after 7pm. My iPad's clock is set to my actual time. Have the time rules changed without me being aware of it (entirely possible) or were there no rules to begin with?
Thanks!

The twilight tower allows you to bend time at your park and get around the breeding rules. A reminder that the time in question is the second you hit the breed button, not when you get them out or speed up the incubation time.

Still trying for a century. ..no bicentennial did get abyss and looks like a crypt is breeding now...really not fun tho. When I began in 2013 it was too easy to breed -- there was little challenge. But now it's too difficult. This is suppose to be enjoyable...just sayin.

Dunno if this is the right thread for this post... but I find that my success with limited dragons has more to do with re-starting immediately after a fail is done breeding than it does with dragon level. In other words, casually breeding level 20s for a limited doesn't produce the limited as fast for me as aggressively breeding level 15s.
In fact, since I'm generally aggressive in breeding anyway there may or may not be a slight bump in likelihood of a limited / rare, and I just don't notice it either because the bump is slight or because I haven't had great luck (certainly possible). I have noticed that if I'm breeding for a non-rare that is limited I get massive fails with level 20s, so will intentionally use 15s if possible. This may well be the watched-clock syndrome and my data is totally skewed by my desire for speed
Sites like this and the sandbox make breeding 'easy' but time consuming - my heartfelt thanks to everyone who figures this stuff out for me!!

Just wanted to make sure you are aware of the following: Let's say you have a 10% chance of breeding a dragon. This means that you have a 1 in 10 chance of that dragon being bred, now when you go to breed again the % is the same and you start over with your 10% chance. The % does not go up as each try doesn't increase your odds. Like playing roulette each spin of the wheel is a new try. According to BFS you have a slightly higher chance of breeding rare dragons using a LV20, but that is another discussion altogether. Hope that helps and Koala to all - The following message was brought to you live today from sunny AZ. Not sure where it will be coming from tomorrow

What gives me the shorest fail times for a lowly dodo? Sigh. And would level 12 or 15 parents be better than 18 or 20? Thanks

But I would be inclined to cut out the chance of the 23 H geode (unless you want one) by going with earth and Orchid/Willow/Pollen. On the island. As there are no drastic fails (epics) involved I would go with high level dragons if you have them.

"Breeding Like + Like Opposite Dragons together can result in a clone Opposite Dragon or either of the two Primary Dragons."
Does anyone know if the current opposite breeding rule as seen in the sandbox where primary dragon + opposite dragon = that primary dragon or that opposite dragon is the new rule or is the whole thing a glitch.
And if it's a new rule is the Dodo exception a glitch?
I was looking up how to breed a Dodo to clear my goals and it got me wondering.

What I can say is that breeding plant+ thorn will no longer give you thorn. I tried more than 100 times this morning but only bred plants. Both L15 in the cave. When I last tried about a week ago I got thorn after five tries.

The glitch is due to Sandstorm being a possibility of ANY earth + air combo. I have to admit the Dodo was the hardest to breed a display egg from because of all the Sandstorm fails while using two Dodos.

It's been a while since I've bred anything with earth and air. Thanks for the heads up! Do you know how long this glitch has been around?

Not sure when exactly it broke, but it was a while ago that I started to get Sandstorms while breeding anything that contained Air and Earth. At least it is a fast fail.

A LOT of the info in this thread is long since outdated, though the first post with the Epic dragon elements is probably more useful now than it ever was before.
As such, I am locking this thread.
I will leave it in this forum until ver 3.0 is out, at which time it will be retired to the Dragon Library.
