In a months time when all this foolishness is behind us, the point of the code will be to enter the code of the person who introduced you. That's what it is for.
You can be difficult at times.
lol. No-one would argue with you about that. I am sorry.
I think people responding might have missed the part about not being able to redeem codes if you are less than level 10.
So it doesn't seem that you can even recruit people with the code? It has to be used by an existing player - above level 10.
Unless you invite them using the share park feature maybe? Maybe that can be used for people who are completely new to the game?
It is incorrect that you can't enter a code until level 10. You only get your own code at level 10. Just created a new account, we to through the tutorial (which got me to level 7) and redeem code was fully functional.
Fletch, you are entitled to your opinion - but you cannot state something you believe about the intentions of BFS as fact.
The friend code goal has the following description: "Invite friends to DragonVale" "Nice work! When someone redeems your Friend Code, you both earn Gems! As they gain levels, you will continue to earn Gems!"
You can only enter in one code, that being the person who invited you to play. But many people can enter your code, that being everyone that you invited to play.
I will ask two questions, imagine how this will work in a months time AND imagine how it would work if this functionality was in the game when it was first launched. All the above seems to indicate pretty conclusively what the intention of the friend code is … inviting new players to the game. I would welcome any other interpretation you have based on the evidence.
For someone that is an atheist, you have an almost religious fervour towards BFS.
I examine the evidence and come to conclusions. My defence of the company when others attack it is because I like to defend people, especially when they are not there to defend themselves.
I found the magic event to be very much like religion - everyone had different opinions on what was going to happen at the end and many people stated AS FACT what was going to happen when in reality, nobody knew exactly what would happen.
Sure.

I'm not doubting that it is probably BFS's intention for the code to be used to introduce people - giving gems as in incentive.
It seems to be very poorly implemented though that you can't USE a code until you are level 10 (presumably so new players are still tempted to buy gems). What are they expecting though? For new players to wait til they are level 10 and then 'thank' the person that invited them?
In any case, I've edited the first post.
The pure mechanics are simple: You enter another dragonvale player's code and you both get free gems.
It is irrelevent if that person introduced you or not. You may not even know the person, or be GameCentre friends.
The person using the code may choose a particular person's code to 'thank' them (for anything, introducing them to the game, being a helpful poster, whatever) or they may be entirely self serving and just want the 25 gems and not care who's code they use.

Maybe I'm not explaining myself. As soon as you have finished the tutorials you can enter the code of the person who introduced you to the game. At level 7 you can enter a friend code.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe this is true.
My sister gifts me from her phone - she is level 4 I think (the minimum level after which you can 'play' the game).
When she tried to enter the code, it said you had to be at least level 10.
This was a week or two ago, so maybe it has changed since then.

Just checked this, and it appears you are correct. My apologies for not following through completely when checking the functionality. Very shoddy work on my part.
So the question is why would they do this? After thinking for a minute it seems the obvious answer is to stop players creating a heap of new accounts and gifting themselves gems. Instead of being able to earn gems in a couple of minutes, it is more labour intensive to get to this level and stop people from rorting the system. Seems like a good safeguard to me. Any legit player you invite to play, like your sister, will work through the levels in a few days, get the news message in the game and enter the code as a thank you to you.
With regards to your other comments about wanting to thank other people, new players aren't going to have anyone else to thank. Or at least not as much. Do you think you're sister is going to be keen to thank another player in the next week, before she would thank you for introducing her to this marvelous game?

Thank you. I have edited the post to once again correctly state this after you corrected my 'error'
With regards to your last paragraph - you are still missing my point. Every single Dragonvale player is able to redeem a single code - not just new players.
So for the millions of existing Dragonvale players, they can use whichever person's code they like. And even for new players, they might not have been introduced by anyone.
I guess the majority of players having started DV when the game was issued or in the year after would have started the game by checking Games in I Store. For my part, it is only when Rainbow was issued that I was puzzled as how to get it and started a search on the web to find forums or else to get hints. Thus, i had nobody to "reward" as per BSF s definition. Lemmy s suggestion is in fact very good but the majority of us went to reward without organzing things as we were all so exited by the new feature.

Isn't this the truth! Every time something new comes out we are like little kids ripping off the wrapping paper, lol.

I know exactly what you mean!
You carefully stalk the Christmas tree over a period of days, analyzing the presents, probing for weakness in poor wrapping paper selection, ultimately trying to deduce what lies is inside.
You must take into account the size and volume of each present. When no one is looking, you might even sneak over and give one or two of them a shake before vanishing back into the shadows. The texture, heft and audible properties of each present offer vital clues as to the possible contents!
You carefully note your observations. I like to keep these things in code for fear that others, upon discovering what we know, might attempt a label swap. Of course, the ultimate goal is to develop the optimal plan of attack.
For example, the dreaded flimsy flat boxes that indicate a shirt or a new pair of ill fitting slacks shall be open first, followed by any soft squishy packages that may contain underwear or... socks. As a general rule, I like to get the disappointment out of the way first, then get on to the good stuff. It's only logical.
I assume the rest of you approach this all in a similar manner, with careful thought and planning ;D

I might not use as much carful thought and planing as you.
I love my vine dragon avatar created by ElektronX. Now, if only BFS would add it to the game...

If this code 75277206 does work, please redeem with it and share with your friends. Get your free gems now!
Look under <Invite Friends> to find and share your code. For many gems, add 75277206, dv117, 2years and Turkey under <Redeem Code>. Like and add if this helps. Thanks.
Is the idea to invite people who aren't already playing Dragonvale? I don't understand how this works, but my code is 65017968 for what it's worth!

Hi, my friend code is 40007941, if you.d like to add it.
As I understand it, anyone who redeems a friend code gets a posible 30 gems; 25 for entering the code, and 5 for completing the friend quest, if they have it. that's what I got for entering a code.
(Invite Friends) > Find out your friend code. Go into (Social > Redeem Code) to redeem free gems, just add 75277206, dv117 and 2years. Like and share these codes to everyone if it works, thanks!
Edit: Please don't post exaggerated promises in this thread. Pixie

Already gotten over 25,000 gems just from friend codes itself. Make me the talisman example that you don't need to use hacks to get plenty of gems.

Over 500 people used your code hey? Sounds legit...

It's called using the right app. Check out DV breeding guide app and see for yourself. Also, you can get 5 - 50 gems if people add your code.
