Moonstruck has had the last laugh...

So I had gotten my second. Pushed it out of the nest a couple of hours early, as I'm going to bed with a headache and wanted to try for the display egg overnight.

Instead, this flighty Moonstruck pair produced a DR.

To be fair, I did still need a DR display egg, but hello?! Not on the current agenda!!! These dragons are clear space-cases. And now my island is out of commission for the next few days.

Gems and koala sent to those still in need--and extra koala sent to all of you even after my Dragonsai tree ran dry for the night!

You guys are going to love this one. I have finally been struck! But the funniest part is the successful number. I got it on my 70th attempt.

Thanks for all the good wishes. Now I hope to hear good news from everyone else still in need.

Congrats Wapatango! Again, like mother like daughter, I have been Moonstruck. However, it took over 81 tries and close to 500 gems. Thank you to all who sent Koala and gems.

joliesdragons - sorry about the long timer, but congrats on getting the 2 parents. Much easier to get that egg with 1+1 than with an epic.

rulilind - congrats! Lots of gems being spent this week. Hope we still have some left over for the newest dragon that am guessing will come out when Moonstruck leaves.

Well, it has always been my favorite number. Maybe my dragons knew that. If so, I would much prefer they would have given me MS on number 7 not 10 x 7.

No second Moonstruck for me, at least not yet. The whole time I was breeding for it over the last few days, I got only 8 Cactus/Poison out of over 81 attempts. Today I've gotten 4 and one Flower and 3 Scorches. I hatched my MS (the shortest egg I had in my nursery) when my Cactus was done. I got another. So waiting for something to finish and then spending a gem or two on something else, I have made 10 more attempts. Nada. Now I have a Smoke and a Pollen, so unless it sticks around for another 3 hours, I'm finished. I'll either try Blue Moon or Lunar Eclipse plus Moonstruck which gives me a shot at the Snow Olympus also, or wait for BEB.

I am very surprised that MS is still available. I notice there are still 9 people who say they don't have their first. I know Peanutzmom:) does not have one yet, nor has she been able to get a second rose. I know that GCID The Real Skip posted in the main thread that he, or she, doesn't have one. Who else is still missing one? I would be happy to follow joliesdragons excellent example and send my gems to those who still have not been struck.

I just updated my vote from help! I don't have any yet to I have 2.

I ended up with 2 in one park and 1 in the other park. I would have been happy with 1 in one of my parks.

I spent a handful of gems hurrying things along before bed. One smoke was my longest fail. Dragons started out pretty low level and I leveled them up along the way. Most of my breeding was in the cave.

To all those who: have turned to tequila, recently joined the hairless, twitch from lack of REM, wished they could stalk BF headquarters, secretly worried they might go permanently blurry-eyed from forcing their eyes open at all hours of the night to check egg status, ODed on chocolate (or Patron cocoa) trying to breed this evasive dragon.... Every dragon in my park bows to you for your refusal to give up. For those of you who have no gems left, and are still bereft, my Plasma dragon steps out of her aquatic paradise for a moment of silence. She was an elusive catch herself, at over 150 fails to a novice player incapable of hoarding gems. Please scribe your names. While BF does not yet let us gift eggs, Plasma will fly over with gems. Koala to all.

Sadly I have to report that ever since I started playing this is the first limited dragon that was totally elusive :-(
I tried from day 1 until late today but no success. I don't tend to spend gems on speeding up as I only exchange gems with one friend but did for this one in the last 3 days only to be rewarded with 2 rainbows and a few 12 hour breedings.... Oh well - bring them back will give me a new goal. Back to Snowy Gold Olympus.

I hear ya, drags.

This dragon took all of us by surprise. If, like many, you didn't have a huge store of gems to use to speed up fails, you needed to be very lucky.

Maybe you should head over to one of the Gem Trading threads and try to find yourself some more gem friends?

Have a feeling this dragon might leave a bad taste in quite a few mouths. Nothing posted on their Facebook page, no offer to extend it if we all "like" their post, none of the the little clues they have left previously when they wanted to give us a bit more time. Let's hope they will give more time if they ever choose to require two limited parents with so many really awful outcomes.

My thoughts exactly. I thought the short extension was going to give me a fighting chance, but all I got was another 2 Seasonals, after some more fails and 2 Double Rainbows

Or am I too prosaic to get moonstruck?

Alas, when all was said and done I did in fact get that elusive smoke I had been dreaming of.
So my final tally

No rose.
6,000 smoke
And of course no ms.

So I switched back to trying for a jet and today got 30 hr in the cave. Yay.

My 2 boys
1ms for the little one, and a moon to boot.

No ms for the other, but both have 48 hrs incubating. Maybe one of them gets the first family rainbow......

Those epically long fails along with the short window of availability had me spending all my gems I had been hoarding. I went from over 400 to only 3. But I was a lucky one and got my moonstruck. I think the finally tally was 3 rainbows, 2 seasonal and a DR (plus many 12 hour fails and just as many 7 hour fails)

Agreed. This wasn't the best of ideas. I know Celtic had a short time frame and some epic fails, but at least Celtic could be bred by non-limited dragons. I think I got lucky getting my moonstruck so early.

THis just seemed like a sloppy idea to me, and if they do it again (which I hope BFS won't) I hope it's cleaner. Like you said, give us clues, or longer time, something to make up for newer players having to breed the limited parents, and then having to breed the new dragon.

Would it have been better if BFS dropped some hints before the arrival of the Moonstruck that the Love and Rose dragons would come in handy somehow? Or perhaps a free breeding hint? Those might be viable options.

Final-er Tally
Second toss of the dice with BM & moonstruck delivered my second MS. So just a little while AFTER the dragon left, I reached my goal of 2 + egg in both parks.

(It also confirms that it can be bred with a single MS out of season.)

Have they ever told us the combination for any limited dragon before? Plus, hints cost gems for a reason. This may well have been a bit of a test to see how many people would actually take the plunge on such a purchase with the clock ticking.

Of course, the information was freely available within minutes of release to anyone that uses this forum or even just knows how to Google...

As I've said, I like the idea of using limited dragons in breeding combinations. However, I do agree that Moonstruck could have been handeled better by BFS. Better communication would have gone a long way. I certainly would have prefered them to do some other limited dragon combination as the trial run.

Reindeer + Gift during the lengthy period of BeB would have been a good place to introduce this new concept, IMO.

Yes, I think that would have made way more sense, especially since BFS gave each player a Gift, which would have helped those who didn't have any to begin with.

I would not want a new limited dragon during BeB event since I have few past limited dragons that I was trying to breed, failed, and ended up buying them.

We have old players, new players constantly joining the game in various point in time, and play style (willing to spend gems, buy gems, speed up, patience, one, or two MS)...it's impossible for BFS to please all. The intro of new concepts, i.e Moonstruck (Epic Limited) now, or another time, I dont think it's going to make any difference; most older will walk away happy, and some new players will not.

Better communication from BFS about extended breeding time for MS, yes! absolutely.
