I currently have a 39 hour in my cave and a 60 hour on my island and no moonstruck. To my recollection, I have never spent double digit gems speeding up a dragon. I am currently debating whether or not to break that rule.

I would gladly spend gems at some point, though I might wait to shave a few hours off the clock or if Kairos was going to recharge soon.

I'm pretty patient, so I normally save my gems, only using them for upgrades or when a speed up is particularly beneficial (such as before bed).

I think of gems mostly as an emergency resource, but getting a rare dragon before it expires would certainly qualify as an emergency. If I didn't have one by Sunday I would speed breed for sure.

However, I don't see how this would get to a tearing your hair out in frustration sort of thing.

If I were to miss this dragon it would just mean I actually have something to look forward to during the next Bring Em Back

Like you, I have never did either since last night. I decided to speed breeding Rainbow, and Seasonal. I need to be certain to have at least one, and did pay for it dearly with gems, then I can go easy from there.

Like you, I try to mostly spend my gems for upgrades or as a limited dragon emergency resource. I still spend some at other times, but I try to limit my spending. Sadly, I greatly depleted my gem stash during BeB. Also, Kairos was used shortly before this dragon was released, so I won't have him for 2 1/2 days. My 39 hour has been sitting there for a while. It is already dropped to 26 hours. I will speed him up, the only question is will I wait until it's down to 9 hours. Considering the short window, it is highly doubtful.

Having things to try for during BeB has never been a problem for me. Since I don't breed using clones or epics, it takes longer to get all dragons and eggs. Therefore, I usually miss out on some duplicates or eggs throughout the year. I would hate to have to wait until Dec. for this dragon. I've always snagged at least one. The only time I didn't get at least two was when LYD first came out, which was shortly after I started playing and I think I still only had one breeding location and two egg spots.

I knew I'd get a rainbow. And I was right Got both sites working to no avail. I'm not giving up--I'm convinced the koala will come in and I'll get it!

I usually do not spent gems, or only in very low amounts.
So I piled up over 2500 gems. Everything is upgraded so there's nothing to spent this gems on.
When I read yesterday that this dragon will expire soon ( and that the quarterly gem dragon would come out today - which was a mistake) I had a short debate with myself and decided to spent some of my gems. It was very hard for me to speed up 3 39 hour fails, as I'm a hoarder to the bottom of my heart. But finally after 400 gems I was successful. Now I'm relaxed and returned to the normal breeding speed.
Hope to get at least a second one till it will expire.
But if not, I can still breed it with a Blue Moon.

I'm very happy to have one. Celtic was my first total failure, having got every limited that I'd tried for up until then. I'd been a noob for the first BEB, and did not understand that some dragons were only around for short times. I really, really wanted that dragon. So, I did not want to repeat the experience.

I've gotten two, and returned to breeding Snolys. I'm resisting an urge to make a third pun with this dragon. Afterall... three strikes and you're out.

One flying around, another in the hatchery. Having looked at fails for couple of them to get a third one for the egg pedestal, am going to try for another with the rose love mix.
I also need a gold snowy egg ...

I have one in the nursery from my second try, and I'm trying for a second. I only have one Love and two Roses. The Roses were happy fails during BeB, and due to a pairing switch that Bloodstone recommended after I got my first Terradiem. Thank you again, BS!! I feel for anyone who didn't have both limiteds when Moonstruck showed up. I've had 24 unsuccessful tries so far for a second Love since it came available; there would be more tries and perhaps success but I stopped for a while to breed an Amethyst.

At about 12 tries with nothing yet. Luckily, I haven't run into any long tedious fails.
