THE FIREFLY FESTIVAL IS LIVE!
Fireflies
"Magic" is back, this time in the form of Fireflies. If you remember from the Light/Dark and Easter events, magic is much like Experience Points in that it is collected when you do various things around the park. This includes:
Completing the tutorial(one time bonus of 250) Breeding Dragons Collecting Treats from Farms Collecting and DC/Gems from Habitats Visiting Friends to collect Party Hats Clearing Obstacles Spending Gems (
You can also buy Fireflies for real cash in the Treasure section, just like you can the other three currencies.
Magic has a max amount (to be determined) and resets every 24 hours or so (though at release the timer will reset in 14 hours?).
Fireflies can be turned in for...
Rewards
- Dawnbreak Edifice - 275
- Duskfall Edifice - 275
- Dawn Pedestal - 275
- Dusk Pedestal - 275
- Celestial Habitat - 825

I've gotten 32 so far from collecting DC, and 10 from selling a Seaweed egg that was ready to hatch. Moving an egg from the EBI to the nursery didn't give me any fireflies, nor did rebreeding there. I'll see if there are some awarded when moving that one to the nursery in 4 hours.
I tried to visit a friend to see how much that was worth, but the wizards weren't happy, and I was sent back to my own. I wonder if that's because she hasn't updated or played in ages.

Collecting Gems definitely gives you fireflies. I got my first 2 fireflies after the tutorial off one of the gem island habitats.
I'm getting 4 fireflies for each friend I visit. (If I pick up the correct party hat on that friend's island)
So far Its let me find fireflies on a friend who is lvl 6 and one who is lvl 15 as well as one who I regular exchange gems with. 5 friends gave me 4 each for a total of 20. The 6th friend gave me nothing.
No time right now to see if there are any random fireflies later.

Ok, so some very quick math and a few educated guesses...
To get everything we need a total of 5500 fireflies.
You get 250 for the tutorial, so we have to earn 5250.
So far, it seems we can get about 150 per day without spending gems or money.
The event will last approx 25 days. 25 x 150 = 3750
This leaves us needing 1500 fireflies.
We KNOW there will be double firefly days/weekends, but not how many there will be. Lets say there are five of them.
That would reduce us to needing about 750 fireflies, which would be covered by a Crate of Fireflies purchase during one of the double Firefly deals.
So, getting almost everything including both dragons should be doable for anyone that can play regularly.
But... I won't be surprised if the Twilight Tower turns out to be about a $10 purchase (possibly less if they change around the daily caps or give us more double firefly days/weekends)

I'm finding myself not minding if I have to spend money to get the Tower. For this, (to be able to turn my park dark or day) I think I will spend the $$.

Once again, leveling dragons does not earn fireflies, which makes me very aggravated.
Bloodstone, do your calculations include clearing obstacles, because if they do, most people will have to spend more than $10. Having to spend real money to obtain all rewards is another bad move in my opinion.
I love my vine dragon avatar created by ElektronX. Now, if only BFS would add it to the game...

Put a moon habitat in hibernation so I could buy an Apoocolypse habitat. No fireflies. Proceeded to buy a few flour boxes. No fireflies. Yay for no bush grinding... but I kinda would like the quickly diminishing habitat magic egg scenario. I bought like 6 apocalypse habitats daily back then

+1
Unlike the Egg Island, I was unsure, but finally purchased it the last min.
On my son's game, which he doesn't play anymore, my daughter & I had left obstacles paid for and ready to clear. I just tested and had these results: 2 small rock 2 small tree 2 big tree 2 rock 2 stone
Guessing that 10 might be the limit again, I next cleared one more small rock, and received 0 fireflies for that.

I have some obstacles left over, I will save them for double ffs days
Kindle park1: nearly all dragons are frolicking in their habitats! (A Thorny little problem to resolve...)
Smartphone park2: Geode, a dragon with rocks in! Still to breed 4 dragons...

Ahem... would it be too much to ask for the Gloaming Gate? (They DID give us the Vernal Glass...)
