I wonder if there was some way to incorporate these prizes into some sort of long-term questing game, so that they could be obtainable by those who cannot afford cash for them.

I won't be able to get the Tower without spending money that I simply don't have, but I'm pleased with the other prizes I've earned. And if my FFs from this weekend turn into free gems then that's a nice bonus. I have mixed feelings about these events and am trying to adjust my attitude to focus on the many positives. It's hard to do that when the final event experience (and the one that lingers) is a failure. No matter how much positive self-talk I use, the bottom line is that I failed to get the Tower. Add that to failing to get the Egg Island and failing to get both of the largest D/L Reward habitats and this awesome game that has given me so many hours of enjoyment loses some of its luster. Maybe I need professional help but after the egg event I stopped collecting party hats. Why? Well, my parks earn a nice daily income on their own and I got sick of seeing that cool island that I did not have. To get these infernal fireflies I couldn't avoid party hats so every day of collecting was a reminder of that past failure.
I don't collect party hats unless there is an event that requires it. I really don't like waiting for every park to load.
I also missed the Largest Dark Habitat and the Island but it doesn't bother me. Maybe because I made a decision NOT to do what was necessary to get it. With the Dark/Light event, I went first for what I wanted to win. Not min-maxing to get optimal rewards. And with the islands I decided not to spend the money and to be satisfied with what i could get. If I had attempted to get it and fallen short of the goal, I would be more upset I think.

I was thinking along the principle of 'breeding all dragons with enough time and patience'. The quests would have to be really hard with some sort of other penalty to prevent everyone from doing things this way.
Kindle park1: nearly all dragons are frolicking in their habitats! (A Thorny little problem to resolve...)
Smartphone park2: Geode, a dragon with rocks in! Still to breed 4 dragons...
Quick Question, is the habitat going to be sold in the market after this thing is over? Cause I mean I could get it but i'd rather want the gems if I can but it off the market. Also what if I have 825+ FFs for the habitat, would I still get the 825 FF in gems or would they like force me to get the habitat?

Probably not...
They might end up releasing one similar to it at some point, but none of the previous 3 reward habitats have been available for purchase.
The purchasable Gemstone Habitat is mechanically identical to the Reward version and is also VERY similar looking, but is ever so slightly different. At 150 gems, it's rather expensive to buy too...
By contrast the Dark/Light Reward Habitats not only look very different but are also better than the various Dark/Light habitats that you can buy.

I believe they said that when the event is over they will convert your fireflies into however many rewards you can afford and then convert whatever is left over into gems.

The gemstone habitat isn't the same? I always thought it was that's why I thought maybe we'd have this habitat too in the market that's why I never wanted it but the gems so I could upgrade my breeding cave or something xD. Ahh so they'll make me get the habitat. Well I'll get 400 FFs worth of gems so I guess thats something. Thank you for replying o:

I'm envying crumble608 in Croatia. It's so much easier waiting out when you have a good excuse. Maybe I should go shopping...
Well, we were swimming in the sea and afterwards in the pool. It's 18:00 here now, soon we will go out for dinner. After that my husband will pack the last baggages meanwhile I try to steal some time to get my ( hopefully double) ffs.
The negative point is that we will be on the road the next two days, so there will be less possibilities to play DV. Two weeks ago when the last double weekend happened we were 19 hours (!) on the road and after that I didn't have the energy to look for all the ffs. That's the reason why I'm a little bit behind with the ffs. But if we will get a double weekend, I'm hoping to get the tower.

Absolutely no chance of the tower but I knew that from the start as I don't have time to spend hours getting every last firefly every day. Same with the island at Easter. But it's a game, I use it to relax after a long day in school with 26 kids, or a day at home with my children and I don't want to cause myself even more stress over it or it wouldn't be doing the job!

I.m having trouble getting into my parks - it gets stuck in a login to fb loop. There's an upgrade in Google play, installing that now, but as usual there's no sign of a Kindle upgrade yet... gggrrrr....

I haven't seen anyone mention yet that there are two separate countdown timers.
1. In the social - news section counting down the firefly event. Slightly less than 3 days right now.
2. In the market on the discounted fireflies. 2 days + 13:10 hours
Sounds like we may not get double fireflies after the last reset before the event ends. Thoughts?
Yes, this looks like we won't be getting double fireflies after the final reset. This is an important thing to remember, especially because that's the last chance we get to earn fireflies without buying them. So it looks like the reset will occur at 6:00 UTC, but we can only collect up to 180/190 fireflies (with gems/with gems and obstacles) until 16:30 UTC. If possible, we should take the opportunity to maximise our firefly earnings from spending gems during the double-firefly weekend, since we get 2 fireflies per gem.

The update didn't seem to have anything critical and should not in any way be necessary to enjoy the end of the event
