Got Snowflake C, with two more 25hr eggs cooking and another 20hr timer in the Breeding Cave. Hopefully at least one of those is the last dragon to make my Dragonarium shine/flame.
Been breeding SN 1 + 1, continuously on both breeding sites, resulted in
25 SN1, 8 SN2, 2 SN3. On the bright side, I did not have a single Epic fail, just few 6 or 7 hrs fails now and then.
Switch gear and breed SN 2 + 2, and have a 6 hr of certain some dragon cooking. SN 3 + 3 gives me a LY.
All - Koalas in finding your full set.
If Snowflakes 3 and 3 can give a Leap Year, it appears that the Snowflake element itself will be added in the mix to make up the 4 elements that Leap Year requires. I would have thought that each Snowflake would only give the 3 basic elements (Cold + Water + something else). Does that mean that it's less important to breed like with like Snowflakes? Bloodstone, your thoughts please.

You can check out my thoughts HERE or in the forecast.
As I stated, there's no way to avoid the chance of Rainbow/DR, but as you can see most of the other combinations can still produce long fails.
So yeah, 1 + 1 is the way to go for getting 3 and 4. You will very likely get plenty of extra 1s and some 2s in the process.
But once you get two 3s or two 4s you are better off switching to Like + Like to get your eggs.
1 and 2 have very high breeding rates (about 20%) even when you don't use Like + Like, while 3 and 4 are actually much less common (about a 5% chance).
By contrast, Like + Like is about a 35% chance of a clone.
Of course, if you get at least one of each you should be able to produce more any time via the standard Epic Cloning Rules...

All these new-fangled dragons with their new-fangled elements... Why, when I was a younger lad you just tossed a couple Flower dragons in the cave and you could expect to get a Flower dragon. Nowadays you might get a Polar Vortex dragon or a Betelgeuse dragon or a ParsleySageRosemaryAndThyme dragon...

Hydrogen is a colorless, odorless gas, which if left alone in large enough quantities, for long enough, will begin to think about itself.
So quick question. (Sorry if this has already been answered - screen time is limited due to a nasty headache making it hard to read.) I've been a bit lax in my second park, and it looks like I won't be getting the 2nd snowflake dragon, even with double days. Since all of the snowflakes seem to require 2 snowflakes to breed, does this mean BFS is changing the "you can always breed any dragon given enough patience" statement? Even during a BEB, if I only have 1 snowflake I won't be able to breed another?
It's not a huge deal for me, as it is the park I'm not actively playing daily, but it makes me wonder if we're going to see more "get it now or never" dragons. I've never worried if I missed an opportunity before, because BEBs would always give me a second chance. In fact, until I saw the combos, I hadn't been concerned about my lack of diligence with park 2. This will put added pressure on future special events. Not sure I like that...

I expect that during the next BEB, BFS will probably make the Snowflakes available by breeding non-Snowflake dragons. Before the current BEB, it was expected that the Ovalith dragon would be completely limited to the Easter Egg Event, but BFS did provide a breeding combination this time round, so there's reason to believe they'll do the same for the Snowflakes. In fact, since each Snowflake has one element different from another, they'll probably have different breeding combos. But that's a digression...

Actually, that statement has been false since they released Kairos. But as rion says, in the past BFS have always made it possible to breed all the old dragons during BEB. Btw the other dragon not currently breedable is Coal. It can only be cloned and even then it is hard to get.

Finally got Snowflake 3 at Park 1 and Dragonarium is sparkling again. It appears that most people got SF3 before SF4. I am the opposite. I got three SF4 by breeding 1 and 1. I started to breed 4 and 4 and got three 4s in a row. I switched back to 1/1 and finally got 3. I am going after two more 3s.
At Park 2, I got one SF1 and three 2s so far. I hope I get 3 and 4 soon.

Just trying to understand this last statement. Didn't we all get Coal dragons thru gifting?

Yes, but if someone doesn't have any gifting friends or if their friends did not gift during that window of time, they would not be able to get one.
Just got my wonderland theme, so I need 1500 ice berries from now until the end to get both dragons and eggs.
Dragonvale I wish that we could choose the order of our prizes. Because... I don't want a wonderland theme that badly! Grrrr... I just want the dragons!
Oh well?...
Fabulously gay idea! And amen!
But it would ruin BFS' chances of getting money off us. *sigh*
why hey does money have to be everything... Oh well...

Aaah, the good old ScarboroughFair Dragon... those were the days, my friend!
Kindle park1: nearly all dragons are frolicking in their habitats! (A Thorny little problem to resolve...)
Smartphone park2: Geode, a dragon with rocks in! Still to breed 4 dragons...
I just received the Treatery this morning after doing my daily sweep. According to the wiki, the amount of treats you gift to a person depends on their level. The treats gift is 20% of a "Pile of Treats" purchase from your friends' market, as the amount differs depending on what level they are. Pretty nifty mechanic, as it sends roughly around 5 mil DC in treats for a level 60 player. I really like how BFS is opening up the social mechanic a little more, but I still face those downsides of not being able to visit my friend's parks or gift gems/treats stabily.
Onward for the bush!
We seem to be in lock step. I got mine this morning too. I prepared a "special" batch just for wapatango. Use them if you dare.
Hey, myke, did you mean to quote this when you said, "Be nice?" Don't worry about your mistake. I took care of the problem by returning the favor. Turnabout is fair play, right GregDarcy? You feed dragons to fatten them up for eating, correct? You might want to stop eating your dragons.

Mm! Fresh hot ice berry tarts! Even better than your zazzberry ones. Don't worry. I made sure none of my dragons were poisoned by them

Sorry to hear that. There wasn't anything we could have done as a community to help those without the Coal dragon gift?
Sadly no. We only heard of a case the other day. And it was already too late. Most of us did spread our gems pretty widely at the time, but I guess inevitably a few missed out. Hopefully they will do another Christmas in July for us antipodeans and it will be available for normal breeding then.

I'm hoping that sometime at the end of the event, BFS will allow us to breed the Coal dragon for a limited time. Kind of like when the Gift dragon was first released.
How many of you had to look up antipodeans? Hehe. I did...my wife didn't even know...and she knows EVERYTHING! ;0)
Well, I've never heard the word before, but I didn't look it up. It's too much trouble away from home, on an iPad using a 3G phone wifi. However, I think I figured out what it means from the context clues and my vast knowledge bank on GregDarcy.
Speaking of GregDarcy, thanks for the compliment, sir. I have really been enjoying the iceberry tarts myself. In fact, I just pulled a batch out of the oven for the members of the billionaire club that want to try them. I am also bringing a batch over to the staff lounge to say thanks to all our fine admins and mods for all the great work they do. It is worth dealing with an iPad on a 3G phone network if I am visiting this forum.
Now, I better go collect some more iceberries to replenish my supply. I think I only have 11 after making all those tarts in my new treatery.

I had forgotten about Ovalith. Good point. I withdraw my concern! I think the shingles I've been dealing with for the past few weeks has stolen my brain.
