You can still get extra gems, party hats, and hatchings. It's mostly only the diminishing rewards (treats and habitats) that suffer, and you still have one of those to go

I spent gems to speed up a quest and got no eggs for the gems spent (though I did get eggs for the quest itself). Has anyone else been receiving (or not receiving) eggs for spending gems on the Perch of Kairos to speed up quests? Just curious.

I sped up two quests (a 2 hour one and a 6 hour one) yesterday and only received eggs for the gems I spent. Just finished a non-sped up 13 hour quest and received all 40 eggs.
And THAT was why the normally bl****-minded Golden Egg was so visible today. It actually double-parked in my new deserted-wilderness island. As though daring the police to come and slap a fine.

Collected 430 eggs so far today. Of those, 60 came from gem friends. Some friends sent 10, some sent 20. None sent food. The difference must be the lesser amount was gifted prior to doubles being implemented. Started a new quest about one hour before reset last night, and ended up with a 24 hour quest, so might not collect my 20 from questing today. It'll be close. I might not be able to stay awake to collect it before reset again. I am not a fan of the random questing times in relation to this egg gathering event. Bloodstone, you are right, obstacle clearing today earned eggs on only 5 obstacles. And that darn golden egg is very hard to find. It took all 3 of us well over 30 minutes to locate it in our parks. Path editing mode did not help or hurt.

Finally applied my last theme... how lucky to have double eggs so soon, it was killing me to have the new island, have had the gems for a while, and NOT apply it waiting for doubles! *happy dance*

Wah! Besides collecting treats and cash before the doubles started, finding that darn golden egg was a costly mistake this morning. Timing is bad too. I'll be on a no-wifi trip the last two weeks of the event, I just hope I can get one of the dragons...
Just finished getting my daughter's park up to speed. Spent tons of time looking for the egg. Took the suggestion to use the "edit path" button and finally found the egg hidden behind the colosseum. When I returned the park to it's normal state, couldn't see any hint of the egg behind the colosseum. I decided just to leave the egg there to show to my daughter tonight and went off to visit other parks. When I returned to her park, the egg had moved out from behind the colosseum and was plainly visible. Should have taken a picture!

No, madcow, it is tough to find!! Some have success using the path edit button. We have had better success by logging out, waiting a bit, and logging back in. And yes, it can move.

I got lucky with the golden egg in my baby park today and yesterday and then in my main park today since it was right where I zoomed in! Although yesterday it took me ALL day to find in my main park. I just could not find the thing!
I will try that thelemurr!! I've been lucky and after a good scour again, I've finally found one! I didn't manage to find one yesterday. Really hoping I can get everything in this one!
Such bs...collected DC and hatched/sold eggs this morning before double eggs. Would be nice if they would give a countdown for double weekends. Thought it was normally the second weekend. I guess this bolsters their profits.

So perhaps you don't get reward eggs for speeding up the quest? Sounds like a glitch, but something to be aware of.

You can only find the egg once a day. It does help to go into the path edit mode, and if you still can't find it, force close DV and reload. That usually helps. I too learned to play to help my daughter: however, it was because she started an account on our iPad while home for the holiday. After she left, her brother didn't want to take care of her account the way she wanted, so I had to learn to play in order to manage it and keep peace in the family. The things moms do for their children. I have now played for over two years.

It's there once a day. The visitor icon tells you when it is hidden in the park.

For those with very full parks: The "hidden egg" is easier to find in Edit Path mode again. As with Gardenia & Santa, it stays full color while all your habitats and such are faded out.
Thank you so much. I went the last 2 events without being able to find Santa or Gardenia and was starting to think the egg was going to be the same this time around. I would have never found that egg without your advice.
I've been playing this game since just about the beginning and was starting to get disillusioned with it. If only I had found you guys sooner. I could have saved myself a lot of aggravation.
