I decided I'm not really a fan of the twin pedestals. I think the blue obscures the pattern and color of the original eggs, so I decided I will not keep any twin pedestals. But I will replace my baby dragons with twins as they come, and perhaps I will eventually crown some of them as I like the star over the head.
It seems that the Twins and co-op breeding is a great solution to people who already have all the dragons and thus perhaps getting bored with the game, especially during times when there are a lot of repeating limited's that are keeping newer players really busy. It's a great addition to the game!

I agree pretty much with everything you said here, and likewise I prefer the original eggs and will be picking up Twins as I go along. Save for the Gemstone Twins, which will be hard to get, distinctive as twins and therefore a worthy goal to work towards.
I just don't think it was implemented as well as it could have been. The glowing eggs and the blue orb were a fairly lazy way of going about doubling the possible number of dragons and pedestals. Would have much preferred an egg recolouring like the Golden Hybrids (tricky on the epics, I will grant you, but still could have been achieved). This would have made them distinctive and worth collecting. A slightly different looking dragon could have been done as well, either a recolouring like the opposites, or different head/wings/body. Something. A bit more work required on their part, no doubt, but it would have felt like an effort on their part, that would have made me feel happier about putting in an effort on my part. And by my effort, I mean donating to the cause. Too hard to redo 200+ dragons as twins? Then start with the regulars, or even just 1 element and it's hybrids. Introduce it slowly, and properly.
It's not the dragons or eggs, it's the people, I find. While still trying to wrap my mind around this question, I'm becoming more aware of the people who send me twins. I'm already co-parent/co-owner with @rion on two, and when I got another of the same type from Greger, I thought, still lots of empty space in my park for twin pedestals. It's like a souvenir. When he visits my park, it'll be there for him to remember. (Although a second twin pedestal of the same type would really be the limit, sorry. Have to draw the line somewhere).
I don't really know yet, but I think I'll be getting one of every twin dragon, and leaving the pedestals. My park is already running out of room, as I like to decorate my islands a lot, which makes me think that the slightly altered eggs aren't really worth collecting.
Given that the twin eggs have a blueish sheen reminiscent of the Starfall event and Galaxy habitats, I think it would be nice if we had a Galaxy theme for the islands. Placing twin egg pedestals there could really unify the look and kind of justify the presence of these twin pedestals. Or, the whole island would look like a boring patch of blue. I can't picture it properly yet. And that's assuming that you even have enough real estate to carry that out.
Many have already commented that twins are like shiny Pokémon, and I wish they could be more like shiny Pokémon, which have increased stats (this could translate to higher earnings, or how about higher breeding odds for epics?) and a different colour scheme. But twin dragons don't even have different colour schemes from the original, which really makes getting them feel rather pointless.
I think it's also to do with the resources that the game has to use, isn't it? If twin dragons had a different colour scheme, this could possibly double the required space on our devices. So they went for a more space-economical route and decided just to give different orbs and borders. Actually, thinking about it, perhaps BFS could use different ways to make these twins feel more unique. They could perhaps give twins a kind of elemental aura that regular dragons don't have, which can be replicated for the dragons with the same primary element.
In the end, I think that the twin dragon implementation doesn't feel as major as BFS probably expected, and even feels a bit more troublesome for players, so BFS should probably review this and make some changes to the twin dragon features in the game. Hopefully they keep developing these features so that they can make twins much more desirable for players.

Dunno. I force-fed our Obsidian to level 11 and saw an earthy-looking thing, like, trying to shine through its blue orb. (It's on my Earth island, if you want to see).

Yeah, resources were obviously part of it. But I feel they could have done something better without having to redo all the dragons. They have a bit of code that says "add this orb if it's a twin". Surely, "use these wings instead of the originals if it's a twin". Or even, "use this animation" to give them, distinct personalities. Maybe they will alter things if there is enough input from players.

This is the best perspective on the twins that I have read.
Meh. I'm not all that interested about collecting Twins. Since I keep two of every dragon, I'll probably just be switching out my extra doubles for twins as I collect them. Will try to avoid collecting the pedestals, as the shiny border change in the Dragonarium for only a few buttons would drive me nuts.
I share the same exact sentiments.
Now face w/ a question should I try for a 2nd Galaxy dragons, or wait for them to come thru as Twins?
I like the designing aspects of the game, like breeding them under pressure of time..etc. DC, Gems, and crowning dragons don't appeal to me. Seeing that now I only have to co op breeding the new galaxy dragons, and pop them in their galaxy habitats...my inside dies a little. I know it's only the start of DV.3, but I cannt help to think what if...
Like the gemstone habitats, once the galaxy habitat is bought, it it's yours.
BFS did not release a new Mother's Day dragon this year. Is this it? It is really the end of DV.2? We will not have Labor's day dragon or Christmas dragons...etc. Wait and see...I suppose.

I don't know if people like this idea, but it appeals to my love of bright colours. Have you ever used the last artistic effect on word? The one which makes all the colours opposite. It's really cool. And it makes everything look unique. That's what I'd like them to do with twins. The twins have the same body shape but with the complete opposite colour scheme, it'll be really awesome to see in my opinion. They will be really alternative and it'll be easy to spot a twin!

This twin thing changes things a little bit. Now you can get a dragon without actually breeding for it. It is almost like being able to gift a dragon to a friend, only it's in a random way. It is intended to please people that would like to gift dragons and people who don't think that it should be done, because it would spoil the breeding for a dragon goal. I for one want to get twins, because I like to have special portraits on the Dragonarium.
When it was implemented I thought that it was done to help the newest players who would be overwhelmed with getting all the dragons. So they could just add a bunch of veteran players since they have the rarer galaxy dragons and the pressure to actively breed for any dragon (except the dragons they needed for the current non-epic limited dragons) would lower.
Since I can't really control the chance of breeding/getting twins, I don't really care for them. It's nice to get them and I'll hatch them just in case. Other than that meh--I'm also not a fan of the orbs/crowns and I don't really want to dedicate another island to egg pedestals.
Horror scenario : new dragons can only be paired using twins. Meaning if you don t have that dragon as a twin you must try over and over with a friend to hopefully get it. A lifetime task ...

I've received 20 twins and I'm still ambivalent about them. I've been saving all of the twin eggs, haven't saved a twin dragon yet. I have two of each dragon, an adult and a baby, and most are at level 18 or above. It would consume too many treats to replace one with a twin and feed it to the proper level. I suppose I could have three of every dragon by adding a twin to the existing pair and I'm thinking about that. Mainly I'm trying to get a Bizurian before they introduce more Galactic dragons.

I understand your predicament completely. I find it ironic how everyone who wants twins is struggling to get enough, whilst everyone who dreads the twins is getting plenty (20! I've got 3...)

It's been pointed out that the only wAy to get a Galaxy dragon is to breed with someone who it randomly assigned to them. It seems unlikely they'll keep randomly assigning them each time they release new ones, so how will they introduce the next Galaxy dragon of you have to breed with someone who already has it? Two options occur to me:
Galaxy Dragons are earned during events. They do away with the current breeding rules.
