I am in need of some koala! I have been breeding some combo of marbletail, chrysalis, and Ire for weeks and have not gotten any of the butterflies or even an ire fail. I have also been breeding for a quartz dragon since the beginning of the event and nada! Waaawaawaaa!
I suppose I should consider myself lucky that I've gotten Arctic fails instead of Rainbow or Double Rainbow fails - but I have been trying to breed a Lacewing in the CBC ever since we got the Marbletail. I've used 200+ gems to speed up. Still no Lacewing. Whine Whine Whine
Random question .. if more than one person has a high-level (15) of the same dragon that you want to breed with, do you switch between them or stubbornly stick with one partner til they switch our their dragon? I've been sticking with one b/c I believe that the secret DV counter will one day trigger and say "Oh, she's bred 74 times with this one person. NOW I'll give her the dragon she's trying to get." and that if I switch partners, that secret counter resets. Magical thinking on my part? Slight twinge of Dragon Fever??
I totally stubbornly stick with the same one. Some part of my brain is sure there's something that keeps track, and you'll eventually trigger Backflips's sympathy algorithm with your failures, and they'll reward you for your loyalty to the same breeding pair. LOL. I keep trying to convince myself that each time is randomly chosen, but as of yet I don't seem to be able to convince myself.
I do however, feel bad about the twin fails I keep sending to just one person... maybe I should alternate so one person doesn't get all my twin fails...

Funny! I too wonder, but have been assured by several that it is truly random.
As to the twin fails, I get constant twin fails. If I need them, great! If not, they can be cleared w/out much effort. However, there is a very real benefit to the other person: I will not switch out my shared dragon if I see one or more people are actively using it. Something to consider

I ended up with two monos and habitat which I foolishly bought with eggs not realizing I could buy in the market (doh) opalith dragon and egg pedestal. I also got a ducking as my free egg and the marbletail dragon. I was excited to get all that as a newbie who joined 8 days into the event who knew nothing about banking eggs lol. Mostly tho I miss the Dragon plinko and getting 5 gems a day from it!!!

While nobody knows for sure, my guess is that the programming for this game is not that extensive in terms of the RNG. I think its just the luck of the draw, as modified very, very slightly by your dragon's level. Just my theory. It would be nice if the programmers incorporated some kind of "sympathy bonus" for multiple failed attempts, but since the game has no way of knowing what dragon you are trying to breed in the first place, I doubt that there is anything like that in the coding.

Lacewing has been my nemesis this event too. I've managed to breed everything else (started with one purchased Chrysalis), but cannot get that stupid Lacewing!
I rotate among my co-op friends after a few breedings--partly because not everyone wants twins of random fails, and partly to tryand share the luck if we do twin a coveted dragon. But from an odds standpoint, my understanding is that it makes no difference whether you stick it out with one partner or switch things up every time you breed.

Wow! How did you unlock all of the tiers? My baby park could only unlock the first 2 tiers. Isn't the ovalith on the 2nd tier? Excellent job!!!

From an adult point of view, not really... from my point of view, some where between 9 - 12+.
I like the Monolith dragons, and think BFS artists did a wonderful job in transforming real life monoliths into these dragons. You have to picture the Easter Island, Stonehenge, Rock of Gilbrata, Great Sphinx of Giza, El Penon...etc, and if any of one of them moves, each step would be clumsy, and heavy as if they were about to fall over. See, just like the mono, old, mossy, gentle giant dragon.
Dont know why, but when waggintails compares mono to "yucky medicine", I thought of "Quasimodo". I know it's weird, but that's me "weird", and "unconventional"
I have an island full of them and just for them. I do wish I have enough eggs to trade in for a second 5th and 6th Mono. I don't and currently only have one of each.
You don't want Nightmare dragon to look serenity, do you? I honestly think Nightmare is the scariest, and ugliest dragon, but then we have the FoY.
I actually like the Mono dragons too and also have a whole island full of them. An adult and babies of each one enough to fill a habitat. If breeding the later ones was easier, I would have 6 mono habitats. But I combined Mono 5 and Mono 6 in the newest event habitat that holds five total dragons. So far, it has four. I was able to breed one Mono 6, and got a Mono 5 fail.
The eggs are my issue -- and I have a half dozen because I purchased the mono event pedestal thinking it was an M6.
They are ugly, but more than that they are redundant AND indistinguishable. I will have to move egg by egg to other islands, and then go to the dragonarium, hit pedestals, Mono 5 and "find" to confirm which one is my duplicate. God forbid I delete one I need to have a complete collection and have to try again for it.
Your reference to Easter Island is spot on, Buffy. I didn't like them at first because I think of dragons as being more graceful – which Monos are not – but they've grown on me. I love rocks and these "rocks" have pretty moss and flowers. I also find their colours soothing and a refreshing change from other dragons. I like the habitats too. The monos look great with the moon theme – which I also didn't like initially, but is now one of my favourites because of its restful colouring.
But I agree with Waggintail about the eggs. They are annoying and lacking in imagination. Same goes for snowflake. they could be made to have a common element to tie them together with even just a subtle difference in each egg.thanks for the tip about how to find out which eggs are which by moving them from one island to another! That was driving me nuts because I have six eggs and don't know which is which.

The oval was in my second tier. That's the highest one I got to also.
I know I have a second Marbletail on the way, so I've switched to Lacewing (L15) as my shared dragon. I'll keep that up while trying for a second Swallowtail.
Meantime, I'm sparking again, oh joy, and thanks, Kairos! A lot of double backlogs, not to mention missing eggs, but I'm only after the ones I want.

Come to think of it, someone probably should have asked Backflip. They generally don't answer gameplay questions like that, but who knows, the support guy might have cracked. And spilled the. Eggs.
not good at this
Anyway, those green hourglasses could stay green, turn gray, or disappear entirely. There's precedent for all three.

Help! I finally have a marbletail and chrysalis breeding. I don't know if I should use the egg as a pedestal or hatch them for the 2nd dragon. I don't know if I should do this because! I still haven't opened up the 4 tier in the rewards! I have enough eggs to buy the Lacewing and Swallowtail dragons, but I still need to unlock 3 things to get to that tier. And the duskwing is one of those. Do I buy the duskwing, and just one of the other two? And then hope I can breed the last one??
Finally bred my first Monolith 6 (had to make sure it wasn't a Crystal), and I decided to turn it into an egg pedestal. It just feels like there's something wrong with the game if I'm sacrificing a new dragon for a pedestal I've already got 5 of. Oh well. The plan is to continue trying for Monolith 6 till the Eggschange Center is about to leave, then buy the Monolith 6 if I need to. I'll definitely want to free up my breeding locations for the next crystalline dragon when it comes this week.

So I just noticed last call on Motley, for the 11th... Same timer as the last call for the eggschange... But no last call on the chrysalis dragons... so it looks like we have them longer than the event? Question is for how long?
