The new and improved Double Rift Extravaganza is here with more doubleness!
Earn double the Etherium from Habitats, Swirling Vortices, Fallen Stars in your park, Rift breeding, and Quests and Dragon Track rewards.
And, the Rift habitat caps have been DOUBLED! Now you’ll earn a maximum of 400 Etherium per Regal Habitat!!
Double the thanks to the lovely Deca DV Team for hearing the players and increasing the habitat caps!
💜💜
This is so cool! I didn’t even notice my habitats were earning more lol. In an hour it makes 400? Or in 2 hours it makes 400? IIRC the habitats would be at the cap in half the time so I tried to play the game a lot.
Yes, that’s correct. In the past, the Rift Extravaganza sped up the earning rate, so in one hour a Regal Habitat (with level 18-20 dragons) would be maxed out at 200 Etherium, instead of taking two hours.
Players complained about this because most cannot login so frequently; therefore, the mini event wasn’t very helpful. As a result, Deca changed it so the earning rate is back to normal, but the habitat cap was raised. This way, every two hours you’ll receive 400 Etherium per Regal Habitat, instead of 200 Etherium. It looks to be a great improvement.

I've gotten three non-traited Sarahus dragons in the rift so far without being able to get a traited one. I think that is a new record for me with a limited release. There is nothing worse than trying for an Eldritch for two weeks, only to get one without a trait. My biggest complaint with this game is all the wasted breeds in the rift with not having the option to select either traited or non-traited. I am sure something along these lines has been requested numerous times. Is it that involved of a feature to add?

I think last time DECA was asked about this, they responded with something along the lines of "it's part of the randomness", so I wouldn't get your hopes up. It's a nice idea though 😊

Welcome to the rift and rift breeding. It is best to view the rift as a deeply flawed permanent mini-game within DragonVale. The rift breeding cave is fubar. Treat every rift breeding success as an extra dose of good fortune and try to avoid the frustration that accumulates very quickly with so many instant breeding failures and particularly the frustration of getting untraited versions of the dragon you are after. And remember: there are other ways to get traited dragons, though most of them involve getting the twin version first.

My rift and rift breeding just awarded me with an untraited Pharaoh Dragon... after two weeks of trying for a rifted one, this is the first Pharaoh I got and of course it does not have a trait. I have had plenty of annoying Enfis failures too which just makes it all more annoying.

I did submit a request for a feature that allowed players to select a traited version of a dragon at the Rift Breeding Cave if they received an untraited dragon, or an untraited version if they received a traited dragon. There could be tokens involved to limit how frequently players could access the feature, and even an option to purchase more tokens to increase in-app purchases. The concept could be tied to an event or a Rift legendary dragon.
There has not been a response to the idea, and the reality is that a feature like this would take a lot of time to develop; it will need to be worth it for Deca to invest the resources. I’ve been devising simpler solutions to help resolve the issue.
I love the Rift. It was an ingenious way to address a growing dragon population. It’s not perfect, but nothing in the game or any other game is perfect. The vast majority of players appreciate the Rift and understand its critical benefits in breeding new dragons. I can’t imagine DV without it — going back to 2016 pre-Rift would be a tragedy. The number of gems you’d need to breed all the new dragons in the Vale would be the source of endless complaints.
As time has moved on and we have many more dragons since the Rift was implemented permanently, some adjustments are needed and that may take time. But just like everything else in the world, it is a work in progress.

I'd be happy enough if there was just some logic that if you don't have a traited version of a dragon then you get a traited one when you breed it and then it's random after that if it's easier not having something which would need UI changes to implement an actual choice.

Ouch! Saharus isn't the easiest dragon to breed and to get three non-traited must be incredibly frustrating. 😤
It is a common complaint about the rift that it gives non-traited dragons - and it is always the dragon that you want the most! Having the option to select traited or non-traited would be the dream and has been requested many times. 🙂
In the meantime, it sounds like you need the koala maintenance crew to replace, tweak, tighten or loosen something in your rift. 🛠
It makes for a somewhat good idea for a legendary dragon. Imagine:
Once every so often, perhaps once every week, you can either:
Bestow a random rift trait on an unrifted dragon
Remove the rift trait on a dragon that is NOT housed in a Rift Habitat
The largest downside is that it would make it much easier to obtain purple fire. However, I see myself wishing to remove the rift trait on quite a few of my dragons, and occasionally wanting to breed a traited dragon with only unrifted results.
Another option would just to have the option to remove the rift trait on a chosen dragon once per week. If this were to be implemented, it:
Should only be available once per week
Be a permanent change; once a dragon is 'purified', it cannot be changed back to its rifted variant
Should only work on dragons located in the main park which are not in a Rift habitat, to prevent conflicting habitat changes
Unfortunately, this is just a difficult thing to code, and could also be too extreme for the nature of the game. As a result, doing something like this would more than likely never happen.

Hi adlerist! I'm curious what your simpler solutions are, as I didn't see (or perhaps missed) them elaborated here.
I've always thought the simplest solution would just be to have all Rift breeds result in Rift dragons. After all, non-Rift dragons can't be moved into the Rift, so why should they be able to be born in a place where they can't live? Also, since you can't breed Rift dragons outside of the Rift, it makes sense to complete the relationship that way.
Perhaps my solution wouldn't be popular with everyone, but there is no solution that would satisfy everyone.

My biggest problem is the initial release of dragons for an event and in lots of cases you have to wait for that event to roll around again to even try for a rift version. I understand why they are clone or purchase only but koala for that purple fire ...

Luckily, it is much easier to obtain purple fire now that Dragon Draw is able to give rift twin variants.
Originally the only possibility was using RBCs, which are only available twice per year. Even trying your luck on an EOM would not work, as they do not include new event releases until the event ends. And by that point, the next event has started and you have more new dragons anyway.
Now it might still be difficult, though at least not impossible. If you are able to obtain the dragons between events via dragon draw, you have a decent chance of having purple fire for a day or two.

The new unbreedable dragons in the event market are released through Dragon’s Week before their event rolls around again 12 months later. Each Dragon's Week usually has 4-6 never-been-breedable dragons. But breeding 4-6 traited dragons in the Rift over one week isn’t realistic. And there are always new unbreedable dragons right around the corner with another event.
The way everything is timed due to the fast pace of the game’s new releases, purple fire is only achievable if you purchase Runestones from the events that have the Runic Breeding Caves. I’ve gone over the numbers, over and over, and as it stands, that’s the only way (outside of hacking/cheating, which doesn't count).

I don’t find Dragon Draw helpful at all. I have no idea when a dragon I need becomes available. And it’s a lottery. There’s a chance I won’t win it. Dragon Draw doesn’t meld with DV. This isn’t Bingo, it’s a dragon breeding game.

Yea problem is I'm 40 away in twins and 45ish away in needed rift. So thats lots of events with runestones.. And I agree Dragon Draw is more a lottery than anything dependable I once put over 2k tickets on a dragon I thought I needed and still didn't get it.
Oh and just to confirm for blue fire Ghostly tab counts twords needed twins and all in the rift tab are not needed right?

Blue fire only requires dragons that can be twinned, so that is correct, the Rift exclusives are not included and neither are Legendary dragons. The only exception is the Ghostly dragons. You do not need twins of the Ghostly dragons for blue fire. If you have all the Ghostlies your Dragonarium will breathe ghosts.
If you need 40 more dragons for blue fire, Twin Weekend is extremely valuable. I’d suggest twinning as many dragons as you can at that time using gems to speed up all your breeds. You could also purchase mystery eggs, but you're getting very close to that point where mystery eggs aren’t worth it anymore because your chances for duplicates are way too high. If your mystery egg price is still relatively reasonable, then it may be worth it.
Once you have the twin of a dragon, using the Runic Breeding Caves for the traited-twin version is the best approach. Otherwise, you have to use two Runic claims on a dragon to obtain the traited-twin. I’d also recommend using Runic claims to acquire traited dragons that are either very difficult to breed with low breeding percentages or are unbreeedable (new dragons in the event market).
Purple fire is definitely a long-term end goal, but blue fire is very achievable (for dedicated, patient players) now that Deca runs Twin Weekend a couple of times a year.

My statement is only a personal 'opinion' sparked by Hawk's comments. i think i should have said: Since no apologies or 'explanations' are 'required' for opinions i will make none for mine.
Your questions made me re-examine the way i worded that statement and i think this version is more accurate. i promise to remember your question (it's now in my notes) and perhaps on another day i will offer my reasons. Just a quick question -- I know the line of unclearable miasmic ether is a known bug and there's no deadline for when it will be fixed, but do we know if it is safe to clear the rest of the ether beyond that? Or there might be some rollback once the bug is fixed?
I'm currently sitting on a big pile of ether and would like to use some to get some space, if it is possible

When the Miasmic Ether is finally fixed, it shouldn’t affect any of the surrounding Ether that you’ve cleared. The fix should just release the stubborn, unclearable purple clouds.
