I absolutely refuse to buy tickets. In my main park I bought a single mystery egg for real money when they first came out and the VERY NEXT DAY my ability to watch videos to earn gems was cut in half. I know this issue has been discussed in detail, but I tend to agree with those who feel they are being punished for making a purchase, however small. I understand BFS's rationale that those who have made a purchase before are more likely to do it again, but if my math is right, I am losing out on over a thousand gems PER YEAR. ::sigh:: Apologies for resurrecting a rant that's been discussed at length.
I don't understand BFS's rationale at all. I know that often my thinking runs parallel to many a consensus of opinion and parallel lines never meet, so I'm not surprised that I don't see the advantage for BFS. I would like to though. To me it seems like giving more gems to people who never spend money will not get them to loosen the purse strings. Actually one would imagine it would have a reverse effect. And taking gems away from people who do spend money and would have likely spent money again at some point just makes them not want to because they lose something when they do. For BFS, the results of this thing they do would seem to be the exact opposite of what they should be going for. I don't see what other interpretation there could be, but I know that there must be one because BFS is a business and they wouldn't just implement an idiotic plan that's going to decrease profits. Would they?

Their plan works just fine when the players are in the dark. When players who spend money don't receive gems, it may make them more likely to spend again soon IF they don't know the reason they're not getting free gems is because of their purchases. I did this for an extended period of time before realizing the cause and effect.
Now that the cat is out of the bag, this method is a complete failure and has a reverse effect on players. I've stopped making purchases so that I can someday get my visions back in game. The issue is that there are still many players who don't know, and as long as enough are still in the dark, it's not a bad strategy. I've been angry enough that I'm posting about it on multiple forums and getting the word out. I'm not a facebook user really, so hoping someone else posts it up there for the larger visibility. Once they hit a threshold of players learning about it, they'll have to change.
Even if they do change, I'm still going to be upset with them. This went on too long and cost many of us 1000s of gems over the years. They need to do something like throw a free wish at anyone who was hit with this problem, and be more open about how things work in the future.
Would you believe, park pollution? Toxic game crashers?
I waited a particularly long time during reboot and CRASH! First thing I try...
Tell me about it! My Mini 2 is crash city. That park crashes non-stop and it won’t let me set new dragons to breed, I am stuck with re-breeding most of the time. I did managed to change the dragons in the island today after days of trying, but the breeding cave is still breeding Electrum and Ourboros because the game crashes every time I hit the “Breed” button. Setting quests crashes the game more often than not and setting the event challenge is also a nightmare. I can’t watch videos, cos they crash the game, so can only open one chest per day for Twhatshisface, and miss out on all the extras elsewhere. Setting a new dragon in the arena is also hit and miss, and as for T&D, well I give up on them a lot too. It works better when there isn’t an event, but there are a lot of events (Not ranting about the number of events - that is one of the brilliant aspects of this game.) I have done hard reboot still the cows come home and deleted and reinstalled that game, but nothing helps. DragonVale is the only thing I run on the Mini 2 and having it crash every 30 seconds is driving me spare. It’s a great exercise in improving patience and control.
OK, that’s my First World Problem rant done. Koalas to everyone for the next Community Egg.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. I know I was confused when it happened to me, if I hadn't had these boards I might still be puzzling it out. Still it's not the most well thought out plan, but at least I can see how they figured it might work for them. Thanks. I hate it when something seems illogical.
Regarding the Dragon Drop mini-game, I'm fairly certain they've again changed the physics in it. I remarked in the last event in which we had it that the physics seemed to have been altered so the ball was faster and bouncier, but this time it appears to again move slightly faster and be heavier, so it tends to land a lot more quickly. I agree it's trickier to get what you're aiming for. I'm also having a really hard time with the Wheel of...I forgot the name. Chance? Fortune? The spinning wheel which loves to land on 1, anyway. You know that little selection spoke is in love with The One. The only 1 for it. Its 1 True Love. Okay, the horse is whipped and dead and I shall desist.
But, I must say, I do appreciate that the event feels more...event-y. The mini-games and the ability to earn beans through various means instead of just breeding sits right with me. I never liked the prize tiers that expired in past events, but it's not anything new or shocking, so I can't be bothered to be bothered by it...if you know what I mean.
That being said, I missed the first doubles day, so I will again be missing a dragon (I think it's now been judged that it's possible to get it with the bean allocation if no days are missed?). I keep misreading it as the Firefight dragon, by the way. Decidedly more hardcore.
Oh...and I've kept putting off hatching previous community reward eggs, as I prefer to imagine they contain something I need, but were I to hatch them, my abysmal luck would shatter that particular fantasy into a thousand shards of a hideous hail dragon eggshell...or something similar. So, I now have seven community reward eggs in limbo in my menu.
Anyway, I'm neither excited nor disappointed about this event, but after several disappointments in recent event history, I'm okay with being blasé.

I have a Mini 2 that was doing the same exact thing. Drove me crazy. It was running IOS 10 so I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to 11.4 and by golly that worked. No more crashes. Only problem now is vision chests for Twhatshisface have been going blank-black. At least the first daily chests work fine.

First time checking in since the event started and just skimmed through the thread. I’m in agreeance with Zekky about the blaséness of it all right now. Previously I was able to spin the wheel with just the right amount of spin to land on 40 or 80, 7 out of 10 tries, no more. I was able to land the coin drop just as well, now I just drop at random and don’t even aim. Same results. I spent 25 gems to land a golden chest only to receive dragon treats and a few coins, not even a gem, much less an egg. No more of that either. My community egg is a twin rifted thorn, which even though I didn’t have, it’s not that exciting to me. I was hoping for my still MIA Starlight. And on top of it all, tickets and donut coins are flying in different directions, making it impossible to find the flag bearers. 🤦🏻♀️ Other than this, a great event so far 👍🏻

I’m also playing on iPad mini 2. Though I wasn’t crashing as much, I did have a crash hereand there and it takes a total 10 minutes to load the game, grr. So I went through and deleted a bunch of old stuff and cleared up some memory. I’m not crashing anymore, but still taking al looong time to load. Very frustrating

I like to carefully weigh all my options, calculate how much different sets of buys would cost, etcetera.
This time I was happy the unopened tier at least gives you a number of unowned items. This frozen floe tier turns out to be an icecold foe however. Yesterday before opening... 5 unowned items... I guessed that would be 1 unowned pylon and 2 unowned themes... Leaving just 1 new dragon and 1 pedestal... I had already decided not to buy Fireflight... so decided to spend some tickets on the themes and pylons of the previous tier... Just now I opened the game and the new tier now shows me 7 unowned items... leaving me with too few tickets to get both previously unowned dragons...
And to think I’m actually on team Icy Torrent...

For the most part I'm enjoying this event very much. I'm happy with how easily we're able to reach our max and really appreciate the doubles days. I'm also happy to have the challenges and mini-games back where we can earn more tickets. I do miss the calendar of treats for daily check-ins. I also miss being able to see all the prizes in each of the prize tiers ahead of time. I prefer to be able to weigh all my options and be paralyzed with indecision before having to make up my mind on the very last day. LOL!
I'm torn, though.. Fireflight is cute and I'm happy we'll have enough tickets for it, but I've been wanting Prism for quite a while and I won't have enough tickets for both.
All right.. that's about 5 edits on my previous post..
Text of the quote still does not show..
I'm responding to the seeing prizes in the tiers ahead and weighing options..
So it appears the new Snowflake 6 dragon is breedable with any Snowflake + Snowflake. If someone has koala and gets one with this method, please let us know to confirm.

It took way too long for a Snowflake 6 to finally happen. (They should've done it two years ago.) I betting's the elements it gives is Cold Water Dark. (Especially that Dark is an element pushed aside too many times.)

I got a new ipad for our anniversary this year. Even back in March I had stopped playing on the mini I previously used because I could tell it was not handling Dragonvale as well.

Snowflake 6 is breedable and permanent. Keep this in mind when spending tickets.
I put up an Elder Ice with a Snf6 and got Permafrost and Quicksand. I think it is Ice, Water and Earth which follows the pattern of the other snowflake dragons. I am trying Century and also breeding for it in my other two caves with Snowflake dragons.

I could have lived without it for two more years.
This. But I think decades or centuries is more accurate for my particular frame of mind regarding Snowflake dragons. They share a special place deep down in my heart, right next to the malformed, crazy-eyed, stomping, Neanderthal-face Monoliths that make me realise looks do matter. Call me shallow, but ugly and low-earning are not my cup of tea, and I tend to shut my eyes tightly and pretend away the repugnant beasties as I scroll by them, so in this case, more is not better.
...And now I'm realising how hilariously hypocritical my scathing comments on appearance must sound coming from someone with the profile photo I'm using.

I am still running 9.3.3 as I didn’t want to lose my GC icon, and with it the ability to reconnect with GC friends in a certain other game, but it has become so money hungry (promoting real money deco, stopping free 💎 ads if you buy 💎 - that sort of thing, and moved so far from its original premise that I only play it once in a blue moon now, so judging from your experience, Amaranthia, I guess I should bite that particular bullet, too, as the Mini particularly objects to this version of the event. Thanks for giving me the push I needed.
On a happy note, my Daenerys Targaryen park managed to breed a Tidal first go this morning. (My main park is called “Children of Glaurung” 😄)
