I'm assuming that although saccharine and lokilure will no longer be available for purchase in the mirthful market in 5 days, we will still be able to evolve them once we have the needed decorations.
But if that is not so I probably want to buy toy chests and finish up the 8 decos I still need. I'm dragging my feet waiting for the toy chest gifts coming in the Glacial Giftery. But the first one is 8 days away and only works if those limited dragons will still be evolvable. The last event the limited were still able to be evolved after they were no longer available for purchase in the market, so these probably will too...I'm guessing that's so.
The Whitbee event: I didn’t gamble. I ended up receiving 25 out of the 30 decorations from the two gifts, whitbee and free games. I ended up buying a few chests from day and a few from the night section and ended up being able to evolve all three dragons.
This one I decided to play the games for chests because this month I have two weddings, two birthday parties I host, super busy time for work, the holidays, etc... And I have a bunch of gems. Another reason is I knew if BEB was coming up I would rather spend my etherium going for rift dragons that I need than going for boat donations for berries. I have spent 350 gems during the event and bought 16 chests. I am missing 5 decorations. I would play a few games, buy a chest, then play more games. I am missing: purple stocking, green flutter fruit, red feather, orange nutcracker, white gumdrop.
I spent gems on extra games until I reached the point where I have enough berries to buy chests for the number of decos I am missing (26 in one park, 24 in the other) *(assuming I havent made an arithmetical mistake, which I am prone to do...) Now I can relax for the holidays. I will give it a few days to see if I can pick up a few more decos before buying the chests with berries, and I will buy only enough to complete the gumdrop and feather collections before those dragons expire, but I think that will likely mean having to buy decos that complete most of the other collections first, since in one park I have only 3 gumdrops and 3 feathers... I am much happier knowing that (barring expensive surprise limiteds) I will be able to complete my goals for the event, evolving one of each of the dragons, but I am not in a rush to actually get it all done.
Edited to add: BTW Amos, I have sold several duplicate red feathers, so that one should be pretty easy. The others seem to be rare for everyone.

I would agree that it's highly likely we will be able to evolve the dragons after they leave the market, as that is how it worked in the last event. But I worry way too much about these things, and have so many extra berries, that I'm just going to buy the last few decorations and do the evolution today.

Yep, I’m not sure if they are that subtle, or if 0’s and 1’s can be so programmed, but that would make sense to me; in same league as no more freebie gems if you buy anything ... an odd sort of ‘reward’ system, which in this case is more logical, reward a player for spending event currency... the ghostlies event ‘proved’ (provided it was a template for evolution style DV), that getting the mechanics for evolving, during the event, is vital, and evolving can be done later. Am gonna try the intermittent purchasing of chests, cos I’m now getting nada but dupes, thanks 😄🐨🐨

Thanks everyone for pointing out we are better off using Iceberries to buy Toy Chests than to keep wasting Gems playing games only to get duplicate decos. That is where I was at this morning - 25 Gems, 5 Games, 15 Toy Chests and they were all duplicates.
Started trading Iceberries for Toy Chests and was able to complete a few more collections. You can see all my duplicates in that screen shot... well, maybe not all my duplicates. I nabbed two extra yellow Cocoa Mugs for my Hogwarts Island as they are perfect as Butterbeer. An extra White Feather became the Buckbeak feather Sirius included with the broom sent to Harry and a Black Present is now standing in for the Boggart chest.

Update; after 3 days of buying 3 to 4 name the egg chests, and getting ONLY dupes, I bought one more this am, 3 dupes, and then bought a chest (hate losing the berries, but hoping we can evolve after the event is over) and scored a new deco... doubt it was a fluke. Now to buy another replay and see... lol

on another topic; a neat feature of so many prezzies of twin rift coals and gifts etc, is you can select one of every element for your evolution dragons; hoping that makes for a great colour fx range 😊

I’m really enjoying this event - the early investment of using gems to get my collections to almost complete and to finish them off with toy chests has worked out great for me.
Also I love the mystery eggs as this has given us twin rifts of all the dragons needed for evolving, taking so much stress out of needing to try for twins. Instead, I have used the twin evolved dragons to try for a second ‘regular’ dragon through co-op breeding and have got the seconds this way - then bred the twin rift with the regular (from co-op) in breeding cave & breeding island to get the pedestals.
I now have all 8 event dragons (twin/rift and regular for each) and pedestals for all but the two limited dragons (which I’m now working on).
I’m saving iceberries for the habitats and of course for the other two new dragons and anything else they throw into the mix.
And finally, I’m loving that I’m only having to do this all once and not five times over!

And excellent strategy! Nice to know that works; I was dreading having to evolve 3 to 4 sets of each dragon (Vale and twin, Rift and twin) and couldn’t get my head around how to get pedestals...sigh, so confused 🤣

Finished burning gems... total = 600. 3 decos to go (to coincide with the gifts to come).
Missing 1 decoration for each of Burglehoo (Pink Present), Saccarine (White Gumdrop), and Jadice (Teal Arc Lamp).
Bought 14 presents (+1 freebie from the calendar) and should still have plenty to get pedestals and evolve all of them (plus even more extra from the next however many weeks of this thing).

if you buy a chest with berries, you will always get a new deco, it's guaranteed

Anyone else bummed that the evolved dragons aren’t changing the Ornamental habitats like the other Ornamental dragons do?
Yeah it is annoying. I wish each of the Ornamental dragons would also say what decoration it adds... I optimised the gold in some of the other Ornamental habitats and now don't have all 5 effects going in some of them.

You should use a spare white flutter fruit to represent hedwig and a black arc lamp to represent snape (if you haven’t already, of course) 😎
