So after accumulating a massive store of duplicates of duplicates, I have finally managed to evolve a dragon - Libretto. I was watching it and admiring my dragon and my perseverance when it breathed it’s dragon breath ... and all my joy dissipated. Why, oh why, are the musical notes upside down? Is it some sort of Lord of Misrule thing? I wouldn’t have minded if they were doing backflips, but upside down just grates. It’s how I imagine jazz notes, and I do not like jazz.
I'm not a musician but as far as I know, musical notes that are higher than h are painted this way. so, the Libretto is singing really high. maybe it's a Soprano

While I can get everything I want comfortably (evolving a second of each dragon in the rift and pedestal for each), I can't help but feel there is going to be a surprise over New Years or something that is going to be expensive to get.

I don’t know if I have gotten a 5 day or not. As each new card appears, I jot down dragon, required elements and time data on a 9 square grid. I start breeding in the rift, and go for the dragons most difficult or that have the longest breed time. I like to stick to spending under 10,000 etherium each day, but occasionally go higher, before I leave the rift. Anything that takes 4/5 hours or less to breed, I automatically go to coop, the EBI, or the EBS. I always manage to complete at least one card within 36 hours.
In the early days of the event, I was doing up to 4 cards a day, but they started tightening up within the first 4 or 5 days of the event.
I have 65 of the 100 Winter Saga decorations for evolving dragons. I have 4 different categories where I have 9 of the 10 decorations. I played the guess the egg game 7 times and won 6 times earning 18 decorations. Every single decoration was a dup. Statistically if their RNG has an equal chance of picking all numbers and each decoration has the same odds I should have had about 6 new decorations. The fact that I had none means that either I have horrible luck with the RNG, the RNG is broken, or Backflip is playing with the odds of getting each decoration. Horrible luck might have meant only 1 or 2 new decorations but what are the odds of not getting any? Any statics majors out there? There is no such thing as a Random number generator. RNG's are simple too complicated to predict, not truly random. So, the RNG could be broken. However, I think that the third possibility is the most likely. The game devs have set some decorations so that they are more rare and thus are more difficult to farm. This is a common tactic used in gambling games. Some states have laws that when gambling is allowed that the odds of win certain prizes must be posted. When is Backflip going to post the odds of winning certain prizes in their games? Will it take a lawsuit? I was having fun with the guess the egg game and collecting decorations. I had the intention of buying more crystals and continuing to play until I hit this wall and realized that Backflip is playing with the odds and making the decoration collecting nearly impossible to win. If I'm having fun I don't mind spending a bit of money, but crooked games quickly get to the point where they are no longer fun. Shame on you Backflip!
robmoo, I had such terrible results last evolution I decided to save it all up for dragons. I've now got the 2 limiteds and 2 of the long-term seasonal dragons and may end up with a backlog, but it's theoretically doable with my gem stash.
As for collecting decorations and the ghosts, I'm afraid Hasbro is far too short of creativity to inspire me as BFS used to.

Backflip support has indicated that some of the decorations are rarer than others. That would mean that not all of the decorations have an equal chance of appearing in the chests. My guess is that each category has one color that is less common than all of the others and there are some categories of decorations that are less common than others.

Why do some feel it’s best to evolve in rift first?
Because you can't get a rift breeding in the co-op, but you can breed a rift in the co-op and get a regular or a twin. So it allows you the possibility of breeding a regular dragon with your rift and a friend's dragon and saving the berries you would otherwise have to spend to evolve the dragon.
I have gotten almost all of the decorations thru Name that Egg, either direcfly or by selling duplicates for ice berries & buying toy boxes with them. I've bought 24 boxes so far & will need 2 more. I bought some too early but waited too long to stop spending gems on Name that Egg, so you probably don't need to buy that many. I got impatient.
Anyway, now I'm starting to get nervous about those Trinket & Regift eggs they've been sending us, wondering what they'll spring at the last minute to evolve those! Anyone heard any rumours, any WikiLeaks 😅, have a theory? 🤔

Really, having triple iceberry day on a day that most of us have something better to do than play their stupid game. And don’t get me started on having ridiculous bingo cards combined with BEB. I think the IQ of the people making this game has drastically fallen. Playing the magic tap and getting chests was fun for a while, until I hit a brick wall and had to start buying chests. In my opinion this is the dullest event they have ever made. Otherwise Happy New Years everyone! Hope you have a good one, don’t let this game drag you down with it.
Ps. By the way, in the last event, when I wasted a wish on the rain station. They actually gave me my wish back, I guess that is always something. Probably because enough people complained about it. I didn’t though, have given up on that, like talking to a wall. 😈

I just need one more decoration to complete the whole set and be able to evolve my last dragon. I thought I'd wait and see if the daily gift chest due this morning would give me the missing piece. It did not. So I decided to purchase the remaining chest from the prize list - but it was another duplicate. Not quite believing what I was seeing - and as I had several thousand ice berries saved up, I purchased yet another chest. Still another duplicate.
It appears that purchasing chest with 1450 iceberries no longer guarantees a decoration you don't have.
I just can't express how disappointed I am at this turn of non-events.
cecilia Are you completely 100% certain you don't have the last decoration hidden amongst a bunch of stuff in your social menu somewhere? The Toy Chest is working as before for me, but anything in the social menu counts as collected - if you'd got the last decoration from a present sometime and it got tucked up in the menu that'd explain the random decorations you've received.

I'm not receiving duplicates on my alt parks from the chest today, and haven't seen that happen before. Be sure nothing is left in the social menu with these prizes, I don't know if it counts items found there or not. Maybe the piece is lost somewhere in a long list. The other option, check your dragonarium and search for that decoration. It could be placed off to the side, or stuck in the wrong location on your items under the wrong color.

Very many thanks O wise one! You are right. The 'missing' decoration was hiding behind one of the habitats. Before I found it I went to a gift dragon in the rift and saw that I was able to evolve it, and then knew the dratted thing must be hiding somewhere.
I immediately wrote a grovelling apology email to Backflip, and then moved a couple of habitats and finally found the elusive dragon.
I am so grateful for this forum and our wonderful moderators.
