Thanks! I can confirm that Pearlescent can be bred by Prism(light) and Starwing(dark).
Had Prism and Starwing as rifted versions, paid 10000E for the light/dark versions and then maxed them to level 20 (mostly with E)
Holp! I’m 🙃 how did you ‘pay’ E 10,000 to change their traits? I have a Rprism and a R starwing, each with the wrong traits and the desired traits unavailable as I have not in the past bred those dragons with the desired traits... or did you have the desired traits available (ie had bred the dragons with those traits at some other time)
ive been trying to breed a Rprism and a Rstarwing with the desired traits as a first step.... yours sincerely, still utterly Rifted 😈
this game now gives me a headache, literally. Sad kiwi

Remember back in the day, it was fun playing DV, having to guess what combos to use for those gem dragons? And to strategically place the dragons in habitats to max the DC collections? Now, all you need to do is pay real money if you want to get anything. I'd rather be spending time (and real money) with my hobbies like gardening and reading. I used to "donate" to BFS, but not anymore since the Hasbro days. I don't even use gems to speed up anymore. End of Rant! Thank you for listening.
Well, look at the bright side. At least it'll make things more interesting during the next BEB. We can always try for what we're missing then.
I've quietly accepted the fact that I probably won't be getting any of these new dragons or limited dragons during these events. I'm so far behind that I spent all my event currency on four of the dragons that I missed during the last go around. But it's really not so bad because, new event dragons aside, I was able to get everything I wanted, so that's good.
There's also the fact that I managed to get four older dragons for the price of one new dragon, which sounds like a pretty good deal to me. ☺

I have been trying to breed Monolith 6 for 2 weeks straight. I have thought breeding 2 “monolith 4” ( lvl 16 and 18) would do it. It’s nott. What successful combo have you used?

I haven't had any success with this dragon either. Best combo seems to be Monolith 1 + Monolith 2. Maybe it's a good thing to do this breeding in the Burcadian Cave.

There are several factors that will make this the rarest dragon in game. First, I believe it's at a similar level to Chromacorn in percentage chance based on the lack of success stories in multiple Dragonvale communities in getting the Rigel. It reminds me very much of Chromacorn. Checking other player's parks, ones who seem to always have everything and amazing luck with new dragons, shows it missing too. We'll find out over the next few days as more people have more attempts, but I'm trying to set expectations on this one for those who consider spending large amounts of Etherium on breeds.
Second, this dragon has some very strict rules on breeding it. You must own all other Galaxy dragons, which rules out most newer players. None will get super lucky with a breed and get this dragon. That's just going to add to its rarity, as only well established players will get it.
And finally, it has 1/4 the time available that Chromacorn had originally. I'm betting that we've found a new king of rare dragons.
The last point I'd like to bring up is that I believe the number of fails do not matter for rare dragons. It's a shocker, given our history of trying to pick dragons that have less numbers of fails to breed for a result, but I really don't think the game works this way. Maybe I'm wrong and you can completely ignore this if you like, but I think we've been thinking about it wrong for years. I think the rare dragons all have a percentage chance of getting it with the right combination. That chance is modified by your dragon's level and by the bonuses if using an epic cave.
That chance is set regardless of the number of outcomes. If you fail the random percent chance to get these rares/limiteds, it picks a random hybrid between all the hybrid choices, weighing normal hybrids to be more common than golden rare ones. As a developer, I believe this way would be so much simpler to code and maintain than trying to figure out percentage chances between all possible outcomes of so many sizes that can occur, while keeping rarer dragons still rare but obtainable. We certainly know that every dragon is weighted differently, some are more rare than others, and that would fit with this method.
This is one of the top reasons why I love DV so much. I always look forward to hearing about various theories and strategies from different players. Some people dismiss any ideas that conflict with their own, but I think that’s a terrible mistake. It’s so important to take others’ thoughts and approaches into consideration because they’re all valid in important ways.
Regarding your second and third point: the fact that Rigel requires all the Galaxy dragons is a challenging obstacle, but it doesn’t change the breeding odds. And Rigel’s availability for one week might result in a lot of players running out of time, but that also doesn’t change the odds — in the same way that Chromacorn being available for a month doesn’t make it easier to breed. The breeding percentage/odds stay the same. As a result, I still believe Chromacorn, an 11 element dragon (including the Rift element), with a locked breeding combo, available only during BEB, remains the most elusive dragon.
I understand what you’re saying about a flat breeding percentage for specific dragons, epics, and limited rare hybrids. If that’s the way the game is programmed, then you’re right, adding extra elements and the number of fails don’t alter the odds (the only way to change the number of fails is by adding elements). In which case, the below equations would essentially be the same, and we’d be able to breed a limited rare hybrid like Bone within relatively the same number of breeding attempts:
(a) Lava + Obsidian = Bone (b) Lava + Mountain = Bone
If Bone has a 3% chance to be bred, and extra elements and the number of outcomes don’t impact the percentage, then adding an unnecessary element, like Cold (via Mountain) should give players the same chance of breeding Bone as Lava + Obsidian, despite more than tripling the number of fails. I helped a group of DV friends test theories like this a while ago, and it always resulted in more breeding attempts to acquire a target dragon when the fails were increased. Across 47 parks with all breeding dragons and parks at the same level, it took an average of five times longer to breed the desired dragon when one unnecessary element was thrown in.
But I must say, I have heard similar theories like yours, and I think it’s a fascinating approach to the game. I‘ll keep an open mind always, as I do not believe your strategy or anyone else’s are in error and should definitely be considered. And I very much look forward to hearing more compelling and riveting ideas from all.

Ok here’s the delima:
I’m trying for pearlescent. I have rift prism (thanks BEB) but not a rift starwing. To get a rift starwing I need a rift chrysalis (have) and a rift glowwing, which I don’t have. However, to get a rift glowwing I need a rift starwing.
My plan: take my non rift starwing, paint it so it looks like a dark trait, and sneak it into the rift 😐

Thanks, I do agree that it's very interesting to hear the different theories about the game mechanics. That's one of the reasons I started collecting raw data yesterday, and will continue to do so. With 1000s of breeds on combinations with small numbers of outcomes, we can really nail down the percentages and if they change by adding a new element.
I have 3 alt accounts and can try for roughly 50 or so attempts per day. If more people can jump in with unused accounts, we can do a lot more with the tests and really get some valid numbers quickly. Starting off simple, and will change the combinations as we learn more. I'll be adding my next 50 tries to the list a little later today.
Do you think that we will get the misssing Chrysalis from Busby + Gildamane on top ?
I think it's unlikely.
Have you noticed that the limiteds have been inverting certain thematic features from their parents? Like Busby's sting + Rhinotorch's heavy carapace = Serket, a scorpion dragon. I'm going to assume that they took Busby's sting and Gildamane's iridescent sheen and made a dragon based on the Jewel Wasp, which they then decided against releasing because wow do those things have a weird and creepy life cycle. Seriously, eww. 🤢
That or the Pearlescent Dragons ate them all, maybe.
grrrrr, now I now why it's worth keeping twins (I often sold twins because I already had two dragons of that type, and they were fed up to a high level, so I thought it no good idea to replace one with the twin)
I have a Starwing in the rift but no Prism. Then I remembered someone mentioning here that the egg that we can claim in the Burcadia cave can be a rifted. I planned to breed my two non-rifted Prism dragons in the BC, then claim the rifted Prism to be able to have a try at Rigel. But it seems that the eggs strictly follow the rule normal-twin-rifted. Eggs in the BC from a dragon type of which I have a twin are rifted, the others are "only" twins. I still have no Auroch dragon in my park and the Auroch egg that I bred in the BC is only normal (even though I have bred two of them)
So in the future I will keep every twin 😈
But for you twin collectors : maybe the BC offers a great way to get a dragon that you were looking for into the tift.

I managed to breed Rigel in the Rift using Andromedan + Bizurian. It took a whole bunch of tries and etherium from its release until late last evening, but it finally came.

Yep, I’m selling seconds and keeping twins, only levelling them up if necessary, and slowly using Bathmat to level up if there’s no rush
I got an (unneeded) Glowwing in the rift with Starwing and Prism, but the breeding hint says it needs Starwing and any Chrysalis dragon. Is Prism a Chrysalis dragon now?

So I don't know about the rest of you, but I find I have zero incentive to spend any money now..
In the past, when you could routinely come up just a little bit short on an event, I would spend $10 no problem to finish out an event.
Now, I feel freed of the shackles of completion!! I know I am not going to spend $100 to earn currency, so I have embraced my lack of completeness!
Are there people now spending gobs of money on events that are more impossible? Or do you think most are like me.. content to spend zero dollars now since through a small amount at it gets us bumpkiss?
