I really dislike the dragon draw feature, as the chances of benefiting from it without spending money, or outright hacking the game, are very small. I think a better use of the feature is to allow players to vote for a limited dragon to return for a week. After a dragon is chosen, the vote resets in order to pick a new dragon for the following week. That way, we can still get out-of-season dragons year-round, but it is available to everyone instead of just one person getting it. It also allows for more community interaction, as people can rally behind dragons that they really want to see come back to the game. Also, a dragon can not be picked 2 weeks in a row to prevent people from exclusively voting for the Corrupticorn dragon every week. I hope this change occurs, it would really breathe new life into the game.
Perhaps this would be a good opportunity to reinstate the Poll Plaza. I haven't seen it in use for over a year (if it's even still there-I never pay attention to it).

While This is a good idea, They would lose a method of earning money for themselves which they definitely wouldn't do.
I could be incorrect, but I thought iremembered then saying they were thinking about remaking dragon draw in their most recent reddit ama.
You're definitely right on the second point and most likely right on the first.
They may keep the Dragon Draw up and add a new feature like what was suggested. That way we get a better option and still the option for them to earn lots of money.
Found the Dragon Draw comment:
Question: When it comes to the dragon draw, will the free shard limit ever be raised from 50 shards? At this point it is near impossible for drawing a dragon. Answer: We are currently working on this and you should soon see quite some improvements on the Dragon Draw feature.
I've no idea what sort of timescale they meant by "soon". 3 months is not "soon" in my mind, so they must have a very different timescale that they mean by "soon". Or they were just using it colloquially, I don't know. It might be that the improvements to the Dragon Draw were still in the planning stages and weren't yet being tested/implemented.

They do need to start using that again. I think in the AMA they said that they hadn't seen good reason to use it, but there are plenty of good reasons...
As for Polls:
Question: Will another Community Poll ever happen? If not, why not remove it? Answer: Yes, we will probably use this tool in the future again, as soon as we see a good opportunity for it.
So they haven't forgotten about it and haven't completely given up on it, though there's no definite "we will use it again" and the opportunity probably has to be quite "good" for them to do it, considering the fact that it would be a very useful feature (and it hasn't been used in F O R E V E R). Especially for people who aren't part of the online communities to have their say. I didn't even know there was a DV community online until about half a year ago and there will be a lot of people who still don't know.
I know the Dragon Draw issue has already been reported, but I agree with this comment that anyone who was affected should be given their shards back. I haven't used the Dragon Draw myself recently because I keep forgetting to collect shards, but it looks like a lot of people have been affected, probably more than have commented because people might not be part of the online communities or might not have checked the draw history.
I also checked this morning and apart from the most recent draw and two a little while before that, all of them went to the same person, so it looks like it's spanned at least half a day, and they might still be going.
DragonVale#7973727 was banned Monday morning. This was the player who hacked the game and was winning all the dragons.
In the past, when someone cheated they were banned, and there would be a redraw for the dragon(s) with the legitimate players who submitted Shards. So nobody lost or wasted any Shards. The most recent situation is a little different. Since very few players were able to participate, a redraw isn’t possible. Deca is looking into compensation for those who contributed towards a dragon that the hacker won.
If any members were affected and need an update on the compensation, please message me. Thank you!

Hello Plasmagaming! I replied to you on Reddit, but I’ll repost it here for our members.
I did suggest this idea a year and a half ago, when Dragon Draw was initially developed. Deca said they would have to change the entire feature to make it work this way.
When I made the suggestion, Dragon’s Week had not been created and BEB was absent for a year, so there were tons of dragons that had not been released for long periods of time. This would’ve been a way to address the problem.
Since then, Deca has implemented Dragon’s Week, and it appears all limiteds will return over the course of a year.
Also, keep in mind, Dragon Draw is a feature to help provide an additional source of revenue that’s independent of events. Converting it into a way to bring back limiteds will change that to some degree.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, as I still adore the idea of letting players vote for a limited. But I can’t see Deca making this change anytime soon. However, I’ll bring up the idea again; maybe it could be a combination of Dragon Draw and releasing a limited. Perhaps in the future Deca will consider something like this.
Hmmm, I think I have an idea…

maybe it could be a combination of Dragon Draw and releasing a limited.
Do you think something like what (I think) has happened in earlier events with everyone working together to 'vote' for a certain thing would work?
For example, there could also be the option to put soul shards towards a dragon returning. They could keep the way of earning soul shards the same (or maybe increase the cap a little to compensate for the fact that there are more things available) but there's also an option to contribute soul shards to limited dragons being available to be bred. The caps are higher than the Dragon Draw caps (maybe about 50k) and once a dragon has reached the cap it's scheduled to be released for maybe a week or so.
It could be the case that, like with Dragon Draw, there are the X number of most-voted-for dragons to contribute soul shards to, but in the voting menu, there is an option to either have the dragon be in the "Dragon Draw" section or the "Limited Release" section (you can't vote for both).
That way everyone has a chance at the dragon, not just the person who wins, and soul shards don't get wasted (or at least not as often) - but people still have the option to use the Dragon Draw, and DECA still earn money.
I don't know whether they'd need to implement something to make sure that, for example, two dragons don't hit the cap at roughly the same time - that would either mean essentially a small Dragons' Week is needed or there's a huge backlog of voted-for dragons that need to be released. Maybe it could be the case that when the top X amount of dragons get voted to be in the Limited Release category, those X are basically in a competition to see which reaches the cap first, or which gets the most amount of soul shards in a given time, and then that one is selected. After that all dragons have all their Limited Release votes removed and the next X amount of most-voted-for dragons get put in to the 'competition'.
They'd also need to do something about not having the limited dragons be released near the time they'd be in an event anyway. They could either schedule any dragons that win the 'competition' for later times or they could just not allow players to vote for those dragons within the months coming up to its event.

I would agree that it is WAY more important to keep the game running as smooth as possible over minor updates to Dragon Draw. Besides, players like me and you who have almost, if not every dragon will rarely even use Dragon Draw (that said, I put in shards for a Curse Dragon that I know I won't win last night).
HOWEVER, I would like to see a way in which Soul Shards can be used, as it would create more use to players who either have all the dragons or never use the dragon draw. Some possibilities could include (but are not limited to):
Using shards to level up Vale dragons instead of gems. Yes, it could take a bit of work to convert the costs, but everyone would be happier.
Using shards to purchase a dragon of choice though the Summoning Circle. By removing the daily shard cap, players can summon any dragon to their park by spending the necessary number of shards. To keep things fair(er), the price would equal the number of shards necessary to complete a dragon draw for that dragon. The largest downside is that with the low daily income of shards, it could take a very long time to save enough for a dragon you want.
As mentioned before, use shards to vote for the return of limited dragons. It would be best to create a new building where players can all vote for one limited-time dragon to come back for a week, with each shard counting as one vote.
Using shards as a possible way to level up Gemstone Dragons beyond level 10 (perhaps the ancient magic of them draws out the power of gem dragons or something). To keep it balanced, the price to level up should be high but not too extreme (like 10, 20, 30 etc.), AND the max income of the gemstones at level 20 should only be 2/week (to prevent gem exploitation).
Speaking of gemstone dragons, I would LOVE to see something done with them. DragonVale hasn't seen any new additions or changes with gemstone rarity dragons since 2016, and I have been dying for something new. One request is to add a couple more Crystalline habitats as I cannot hold any twins

These are all terrific ideas! There will be updates to Dragon Draw soon, so hopefully they will address some of the current issues with the feature. I’m not sure when Deca will revisit the idea of implementing more improvements to Dragon Draw, since they haven’t released their first round of updates.
For the additional Crystalline habitats, that was requested on this thread and from other DV communities as well. Here’s the response I posted. I know it’s not the reply that players hoped for, but for now, Deca doesn’t have any plans on increasing the number of habitats.

I'd love it if there could be a way to get rid of double XP boosts once you're max level. I spent I think ~35 gems to get one when it appeared in a racetrack chest, then got another from questing, and now I have one left over that I'll never be able to use (since apparently if you're already max level, when the max is increased you automatically get made the next max level). It's the only non-twin gift I have so it's bugging me a little 😅 Since it costs in the region of about 30+ gems to buy one it might be nice if you could transfer any leftover ones for 15+ gems. I realise there are more important things to be worked on first, but just a suggestion for when you have some time to work on the less important things.

I dont believe that you automatically increase to the next max level if you are already the current max level. IIRC, The game still tracks how much XP you earn after you get max level, and when they raise that max level, it gives you all your XP that you earned, Which CAN get you to the new max level, but is not guaranteed.

That's what I thought, but I read a comment explaining that it is likely actually a bug. Even people who had only just reached max level before it was increased are automatically made the new max level, and they wouldn't have already stored enough XP.
I don't believe the comment was from a DV representative so it isn't certain, but it was definitely from someone who knows a lot about the game (I've seen them commenting a lot on the subreddit). If I get a moment, I'll see if I can find the comment.
Also, according to this post, it looks like a rare dragon (Satin) is worth the same amount of points in Eggy Hatchy as a moderately-high level twin non-rare hybrid like Promethium or Radiant. That really ought to be updated, unless there's some lore reason why a rare dragon is worth so much less.

I was also confused as to why Satin was so low valued. I "bred" a twin one when trying to get the point requirement to complete a level, but it frustrated me that it STILL did not net enough points.

It may be an oversight by Deca. Satin possibly hasn't been available in an event with Eggy Hatchy before, so it hasn't been noticed. I think it was Aquacorn had its points value changed (some time ago) as it was only giving 'normal' hybrid points.

Oooh, I think I remember that. I've always had some sort of subconscious dislike of getting Aquacorn eggs and y'know I think this might be why.

The FB rep flagged this early in the event. But obviously, Deca didn’t update Satin’s Eggy points.
Eggy Hatchy was in the game for last year’s Valentine’s event, so the Satin issue has been around for over a year.
I’ll see if Deca can fix it before next year, but no promises. They likely won’t see this as a priority.

You linked your own post 😄. Did you intend to link the post that replied to you? If so, that’s Koko, and he’s a Game Rep. Although, his statement about instantly levelling up being a feature, isn’t something I recall Deca saying. It is a bug through and through.
We know it’s a bug because if it was a feature, everyone would insta-level up, not just some players. Plus, Backflip never had this in place. When new park levels were introduced, everybody had to earn XP to unlock each new level.
Maybe Deca will change this, and let all players level up in accordance with saved XP. Some games have this, but it doesn’t work for DV since new park levels are minimal, infrequent, and earning XP by feeding dragons, especially traited dragons, is so easy. Endgamers would never be able to earn XP and level up gradually again. I would be at park level 3000 right now. 😂

I think the Glare weather theme is great (I preferred the original in all honesty but understand why it had to be changed) but if it's causing people issues, please don't make it the default setting for an event in future, not even limiting it to double days. Yes, the weather station can be used to change it and I'm sure there are people appreciating you adding the building to this event for that reason, but it isn't fair to force someone to spend all that hard-earned EC just the play the game on double days, especially if they're a newer player and aren't earning as much EC. It's not their fault that they have issues with the theme. It'd much fairer to force people to buy the weather station if they want to have the glare theme rather than remove it, since it's not like the game will become unplayable for anyone without it, but people are clearly struggling with it. I appreciate that this is only the second time that the theme's been used so we couldn't expect you to have known it would affect people's ability to play this much, but please consider this suggestion in future.
Thank you!
P.S. I love the new and improved Dragon Draw - absolutely awesome!
