Also the combo with the shortest breed time, because the chances of cloning it will shorten the average fail time. I think it’s 8 hours with those elements, Obsidian would be a good choice. Unless primaries can be cloned, in which case choose Fire.
Primaries can't be cloned with the normal breeding methods (although they can result from opposite breeds), but the way breeding works in game it actually doesn't matter what you use to clone a dragon other than trying to avoid longer fails if it's not in the rift. When doing a breed, the cloning chances are checked first and are set no matter the resulting possible outcomes. If the clone chance of Gatren is 1.5 percent (it is), then no matter what dragon you use and no matter what outcomes can occur, you have a 1.5 percent chance of getting it. If you pick Obsidian, which has a 1 percent cloning chance (not breeding - that will be much, much higher), then you have a 1.5% Gatren chance, 1% Obsidian, and then the leftover 97.5% will split between the other possible outcomes no matter how many there are.
Using something like a double rainbow would be a bad idea, not because of the possible number of fails, but because it has a slightly higher chance of cloning the double rainbow and locking up your breeding cave.
You might considering using a plant dragon, or something with a much shorter breed time if you get a fail and it contains that element instead of just the original 4. The average fails for just fire, earth, cold and dark right now are very long.
This doesn't apply if the dragon you're cloning has 3 elements, since adding a 4th can do things like add rainbow and other long fails to your pool. You just want to ensure you're not raising the average fail times or adding something terribly long. It also doesn't apply to the rift, where you don't care about fail times. If you're trying to clone a dragon there with one you already own, use anything at all.
Finally, if it's dragon that you can both breed and clone, for example Soriak this week, then you certainly want to use the elements for that dragon and not add anything new to the breeding pool. That way you get both the cloning and breeding odds added together!
Great advice about the Plant. Poison/Flower would be the best breeding partner.
So, the pumpkins and various harvest items respawn. I found all 10 at the beginning of the event (rare for me...I'm usually too lazy to do them all at once!). I went back in just now to do some breeding before bedtime and lo and behold, the border was back and I found six more items before the border disappeared. It seems some respawn but not all...and I've no idea what the time scale is because I didn't notice anything when I went in a few hours ago. My estimated times are probably around six hours apart from first full item collection to now?
So I just went in and found another 6 items, both pumpkins and treats. They are respawning, but I don’t know the timing. I think the first time they had respawned 3 hours after I had played last and this time was 6. Maybe something respawns every 4hours? People who are much more detail oriented than I will have to figure this out. Does look like this is DECAs answer to not having to login as often with this event. Maybe something respawns every hour....

some days ago I tried to breed a Soriak in the rift using Cyclone + RiftEarth. I was very astonished to get a RiftEarth out of this. Sorry, it always seems that my park produces strange outcomes.
On another note : do we have any experiences with if a dragon is surely available when marked with a green hourglass? Soriak is still showing with a green hourglass but it was meant to have expired yet. So what is the truth? Is it safe to take the green hourglass as a sign that it is available ?

If I've accumulated many of the ghostlies but still don't own any of the effigies, is it worth buying them? Is it possible to acquire the ones I don't have without the effigies? If there is another event that involves breeding, I suppose I won't be able to breed ghostlies...
It would be terrific if the red moon would change its appearance with the phase of the moon
I discovered, after I had done my rift breeding, that in the news section soriak was still showing 22 hours left in the market. I thought it was supposed to leave with the arrival of the new event, so I was very surprised. According to the timer in the news section of the social menu, it will now be leaving at reset. I’m glad for the extra day. I did manage to finally get one in co-op.
I love my vine dragon avatar created by ElektronX. Now, if only BFS would add it to the game...

I’m really missing not having an extra game to play, like Eggy. I was able to achieve so any more prizes last event just because of the extra pinecones I was able to collect there.
The pumpkins and treats respawning are helping to make up for not having Eggy, but I’m not liking that I have to keep my park black and white for so long. They are much harder to find than the special visitors and I have to use path edit in addition to the pantheon setting. It’s such a pain to constantly turn the path edit on and off again for each island. It already getting tedious.
Does anyone have any shortcuts or other ways of finding those tiny pumpkins that doesn’t keep me colorless???

Short answer: nope. At least not that I know of. My 'process', if it helps, is that in black and white (with correct Pantheon settings), I go through each island looking for the items (pumpkins/treats) while collecting cash (nothing else off). Then I turn the paths off and go back through more quickly just looking for specks of colour (items!) and only turn on the paths when I find one, then back off to look for more - this will save the on/off for every island. If I feel like I have a decent memory that day and there are only a few, I'll leave the paths off to look and just turn them back when I'm done looking and tap the 'hidden' items from memory.

I did forget to mention that Gatren already has plant as an element, even though the habitats are dark, earth, fire, and cold. Plant appears to be a fifth hidden element for the dragon. But with the cyclone + earth, you have opposites. I added "(although they can result from opposite breeds)", because just as you saw, if you breed opposite elements together it can result with a primary dragon. So earth and air are opposites, just like fire+cold. For example, Blue Fire + Blue Fire can result in a fire or a cold. Cyclone + Cyclone can result in earth or air.
As for the hourglass, that has always been the definitive test on whether or not a dragon is available to be bred. That doesn't mean it can't be bugged now with some new issue, but I've always trusted that check.
I'm normally more detail-orientated, but I had a long day yesterday and no coffee! Decaf, but that doesn't count. I originally posted that I found 10 items - that was obviously wrong. I checked adlerist's guide, and there are 11 items plus Whitbee...the border disappeared yesterday, so I obviously found all 11 and Whitbee. I double checked this today and there are, indeed, 11 items and Whitbee at the reset. Never doubted adlerist, I just can't count without coffee, apparently. After this, things seem to go a bit lopsided. My loosy-goosy spawn checking over the last 24 hours indicate that the items respawn approximately every six hours and not in-between with one odd exception that I don't understand.
I entered the game a couple times between reset + 6hrs and didn't notice the border reappearing. About six hours after reset (reset+^6), border reappeared, I found six items, border gone. DIdn't go in between. I checked six hours after that (reset+12), border reappeared, six more items, border gone. Didn't go in between. I checked again about 6.5 hours after that (reset+18.5), border reappeared, maybe five or six items (was in a rush, may have miscounted five), border gone. Went in a couple times in between, no border. Checked again about five hours after the last appearance (reset+23.5ish), the border reappeared (!!), two items (!!), border gone. At reset, all 11 items and Whitbee come back with the border and the border disappears when you find them all.
I wasn't super rigorous with timings and counting, but huh? What's up with the random two item respawn? I get respawning every six hours (though this totally messed with my sleep), but that last one was an outlier, unless I didn't catch another intermediate respawn. I'm also pretty sure that I only got 5 items at 18.5hrs despite my lack of coffee and rush. It doesn't feel like one item per hour if I only got two after about five hours with nothing in between.
I need all 3 sets of 10x Items needed for the transformation dragons. Yesterday I wasted 15 gems on three extra games for the chests. All I got from the 9 chests were DC, treats and event candy. 🤨

• In the Dragonarium, returning event dragons are showing as unavailable: this has been fixed; all dragons in the event market have green hourglasses and are breedable.
• Cost to evolve a dragon: the 'Evolve!' button is correct. It costs 1,000 Candy to evolve dragons during the event. The text in the pop-up window (stating 100 gems) will be fixed at the next data deploy. lisgie, if you prefer to spend gems, it’ll be best to evolve after the event.
• Spooky habitat limit: Deca is looking into increasing the limit.
• No costumed visitors: the Om of Nom decorations were selected because most of the event will run through November and trick-or-treaters might look odd in a couple weeks. But Deca will look at bringing the trick-or-treaters into the Vale on certain days if it’s not too much trouble.
Here are some items that were not mentioned on the forum but were brought up by Game Reps:
• No Lycan in the prize tiers: it appears not including Lycan was an oversight, so DECA HAS ADDED LYCAN AND ITS PEDESTAL TO THE TREATS TIER (even though you probably have plenty to breed, Lycan is a wonderful addition to a park; he changes appearance — so two for one!).
I added Lycan and its pedestal to the Treats tier on the first page.
• Rift habitats: new Rift habitats DO count against your habitat limit. This is intentional.
• Unable to purchase evolve dragons in Limited tier: these evolve dragons are not available for purchase unless you already own one. This is intentional. Also, while reviewing the event FAQ, I found this statement: 'Once you've acquired at least 1 Wrath, Porcelain, or Corrupticorn Dragon you can purchase more of that dragon or pedestal if you wish'.

Pretty sure it is cash. But there's just one way to find out for sure ...
It accumulates DC; it upgrades using etherium. It’s a rift habitat for your park. It’s not in the rift.
That kind of stinks. I’d love to see me rift dragons on display in my park - while still earning etherium. Unless I’m missing something, I’m not sure Deca thought this through. Gemstone habitats allow you to collect gems. What’s the difference between this habitat and any other special/reward habitat - oh yeah - it costs etherium to upgrade. That’s very disappointing. Ok, I’m done throwing a tantrum. Sorry you had to see that 😳
*edit - the habitat looks cool, but my point is that you can already bring rift dragons out of the rift and you can probably put non-rifted dragons in this habitat, it just would have made more sense to have it actually collect rift currency.

I’m bummed about the rift habitat counting towards your total. It feels like a penalty for having the max amount of habitats If you have the max then you can’t buy any. 😞

I remember some were available during BEB, but if I remember correctly, the gem cost was too much since I needed 30 items and I don’t have that many gems in bank. I honestly can’t remember the actual cost per item, but had it been dc, I’m sure I would have bought them, like I did all the planters needed for other dragons. I was hoping/assuming they would be available now, but I assumed wrong. 😕
