Primaries can't be cloned with the normal breeding methods (although they can result from opposite breeds), but the way breeding works in game it actually doesn't matter what you use to clone a dragon other than trying to avoid longer fails if it's not in the rift. When doing a breed, the cloning chances are checked first and are set no matter the resulting possible outcomes. If the clone chance of Gatren is 1.5 percent (it is), then no matter what dragon you use and no matter what outcomes can occur, you have a 1.5 percent chance of getting it. If you pick Obsidian, which has a 1 percent cloning chance (not breeding - that will be much, much higher), then you have a 1.5% Gatren chance, 1% Obsidian, and then the leftover 97.5% will split between the other possible outcomes no matter how many there are.
Using something like a double rainbow would be a bad idea, not because of the possible number of fails, but because it has a slightly higher chance of cloning the double rainbow and locking up your breeding cave.
You might considering using a plant dragon, or something with a much shorter breed time if you get a fail and it contains that element instead of just the original 4. The average fails for just fire, earth, cold and dark right now are very long.
This doesn't apply if the dragon you're cloning has 3 elements, since adding a 4th can do things like add rainbow and other long fails to your pool. You just want to ensure you're not raising the average fail times or adding something terribly long. It also doesn't apply to the rift, where you don't care about fail times. If you're trying to clone a dragon there with one you already own, use anything at all.
Finally, if it's dragon that you can both breed and clone, for example Soriak this week, then you certainly want to use the elements for that dragon and not add anything new to the breeding pool. That way you get both the cloning and breeding odds added together!
some days ago I tried to breed a Soriak in the rift using Cyclone + RiftEarth. I was very astonished to get a RiftEarth out of this. Sorry, it always seems that my park produces strange outcomes.
On another note : do we have any experiences with if a dragon is surely available when marked with a green hourglass? Soriak is still showing with a green hourglass but it was meant to have expired yet. So what is the truth? Is it safe to take the green hourglass as a sign that it is available ?
I've gotten a rifted parent not too rarely by breeding r.light +. r. dark for DC. There's also been mostly rifted primaries in an unfortunate experinent of rift. earth + dodo...
Trying for ghostly hybrid dragons also gives the odd plant. Not sure what Quil means by normal and not normal methods in the first place, though. This is more likely to be a misinterpretation of his statement than it being wrong.
adlerist is there any way to ask if the items needed to transform Wrath, porcelain and corrupticorn will be made available of event currency.
I remember some were available during BEB, but if I remember correctly, the gem cost was too much since I needed 30 items and I don’t have that many gems in bank. I honestly can’t remember the actual cost per item, but had it been dc, I’m sure I would have bought them, like I did all the planters needed for other dragons. I was hoping/assuming they would be available now, but I assumed wrong. 😕
This was thoroughly discussed on the Game Rep channel early today. Currently, the way to acquire the evolution decorations are through the gold chests in the mini-games. But since the free games rarely result in gold chests, purchasing extra plays for 5 gems is the best method because if you win, you will receive the gold chests. The problem is, with this event and the Suncrest Soirée, the guaranteed gold chest that are sold in the event market for event currency are missing. They guarantee an unowned evolve decoration. Without these special chests, it’s extremely difficult to obtain all the decorations.
If you can’t afford the evolve decorations during BEB, the best thing to do is to try and get as many decorations as you can from the mini-game extra plays, then wait until the guaranteed golden chests show up in an event market. I brought it up today, but I don’t know if Deca will add it or not.

I did spend 15 gems on games to get the guaranteed chests, but only got DC, treats and candy. I don’t want to waste anymore gems that way, so I’ll just wait until the items come to me. 😉

PRO TIP: save Candy and buy the evolve planters in the Market with DragonCash!
All the treat planters in the Possessed tier of the event store are for sale in the Market under Decorations.
This is NOT a glitch. Deca confirmed the planters will stay in the Market through the event.

Yes, it is correct and on time. But crumble608 posted six hours ago (before today's reset) surprise that Soriak was still available to breed. I was really only confirming that it has now gone - on time and as originally planned.

If I've accumulated many of the ghostlies but still don't own any of the effigies, is it worth buying them? Is it possible to acquire the ones I don't have without the effigies? If there is another event that involves breeding, I suppose I won't be able to breed ghostlies...
If you don’t have the Ghostly effigies, you cannot obtain the Ghostly primaries, unless you receive them from a mystery egg. You can clone the Ghostly hybrids though, it’s just the primaries you won’t own. The effigies make decent decorations so they’re nice to have around and complete the Decoration section of the Dragonarium. Also, if you think it’d be a let down to receive Ghostly Plant, Ghostly Fire, etc, for your Daily Reward Rare Egg of Mystery, it might be good to have the Ghostly primaries in your park.

I did forget to mention that Gatren already has plant as an element, even though the habitats are dark, earth, fire, and cold. Plant appears to be a fifth hidden element for the dragon. But with the cyclone + earth, you have opposites. I added "(although they can result from opposite breeds)", because just as you saw, if you breed opposite elements together it can result with a primary dragon. So earth and air are opposites, just like fire+cold. For example, Blue Fire + Blue Fire can result in a fire or a cold. Cyclone + Cyclone can result in earth or air.
As for the hourglass, that has always been the definitive test on whether or not a dragon is available to be bred. That doesn't mean it can't be bugged now with some new issue, but I've always trusted that check.
Cyclone is air+lightning So no opposite
The Air in cyclone is the opposite of the Earth that you were pairing it with.

The Air in cyclone is the opposite of the Earth that you were pairing it with.
But then a lot of breeding combinations contain opposites and we should receive much more basic dragons as outcome.
... I still get said rift basics enough to almost complain and never breed for light/dark hybrids despite their worth. Are we both cursed with unfortunate luck?

Just bred an Oni in the Coop with Forest and Gatren. Wasn’t expecting since I didn’t see it as a possible out come in the Sandbox. It was a welcome surprise! Also have a Teozinte. 2 down and a bunch to go! I enjoyed this forum so much before I stopped playing 3 years ago that I decided to join now that I’m back!
Question: I may wait a while before I buy, but is there one of the Effigy’s for the ghostly dragons that I should get first?
