There is a bug that means the game automatically selects your final gift for you.

Don’t accept the hacked gifts. Keep watching ads and buy the occational gem. If Deca can’t make any money from DragonVale they have no reason to keep the parks running.
That being said, I accidentaly accepted two hacked gifts, and I’m not sure how many gems I’ve spent since then, and I usually have very few gems, so now I dare not use any more gems until Deca has sorted everything out. Sigh, complicated. And if I want to collect the last gift of the event I have to pay 220 gems to catch up, due to the previous loading bug. Sigh again, I can’t do that due to the unwanted hacked gems.
liza, I’ve asked Deca numerous times to open the Portal of Portends to players who experienced the loading bug, most recently last night. The other reps have also requested this. So Deca is well aware of the issue. Unfortunately, they were not able to distribute compensation last week, and the hacker prevented the delivery this week. I know how frustrating it is, but we’ll keep pushing for the compensation and the daily event rewards. Sadly, DV struggled during this event, and unnecessary added issues like hacking only multiplied the problem.

It appears that the recent hacking incident has led to a gifting bug. There have been reports from players who are having difficulty gifting gems and treats to their friends. The game crashes and/or the gems or treats are depleted, so they cannot send gifts. Some players can send some gems before the crashes start, while others cannot gift any. There are various reports, but many of them differ. Deca is looking into the issue.
Players may want to gift a couple of gems and treats at a time, instead of all 7, or all 21 if you have multiple parks on your device. Don’t know if that will help, but it couldn’t hurt.

Yeah, thank you for the information! ❤️ I think it’s nice that Deca wants to compensate us, and I think it’s awesome that you guys represent all of us DragonVale players and speak on our behalf.

This person is a pain ! If they have issues with DragonVale take it up with DECA and stop the annoying nonsense. 🎃

edit: nevermind, apparently the 50 gems is legit compensation from Deca not hackers? Poor taste to send random gems out while I have hacked gems plaguing my gifts list making it hard to collect stuff.

Double Rewards was added with DV version 4.29.3. I posted about it on the General DragonVale thread. It’s not a bug, so it was not posted here.

I know the compensation is disappointing and does not cover the amount players lost. The Game Representatives and Deca Community Managers fought very hard for fair and generous compensation. Sadly, this is nowhere near what we requested. We do not know how these amounts were determined, or what the reasoning was behind it. But we’re very sorry that it’s so unworthy.
Players affected by the loading bug will receive 150 gems total. If you’re thinking about unlocking the Portal of Portends with gems to obtain the last dragon reward, please wait until the end of the event so it’ll cost less. The event island and Portal of Portends disappears on Monday, November 6th at the daily reset.
So you know what you’ll be receiving if you unlock the event daily rewards, here’s a list of the prizes from the last 10 days (you’ll have some of these unlocked over the next couple of days).

How to tell if a gift is legitimate or hacked
Since the hacker sent gifts, there’s some confusion about which gifts are from Deca and which are hacked.
These are legitimate gifts from Deca Games. There’s a Collect button.
If the gift is an item, there may also be an Info button.
These are gifts from the hacker.Most of the hacked gifts have the Free Gift buttons for gems and treats and they’re always greyed out. Also, the gem amounts are typically unusual, odd amounts, and most were over 50 gems.

Wow...I wasn't affected by the loading bug, but I find myself feeling rather insulted on their behalf. That's not even enough EC to buy a single dragon, or enough gems to even break even on the Portal of Portends when trying to catch up. 🤯
There's an Argos ad that never loads - I've got it a couple times now, and once it stopped me getting my bonus on the colosseum. All you can see is a download button in the bottom right hand corner. It loads a website if you click on the ad but I forgot to note down the URL. I will do if I get that ad again.

To request the removal of a problematic ad, I’ll need the following:
1. Name of the ad. If it’s for an app, the name of the app and the developer. 2. Describe the problems the ad is causing. 3. Name of the ad provider. There should be an icon on the advert, usually in a corner. The icon can show at any time, beginning, end, or throughout the ad. Tap it to reveal the name of the provider. Your ‘gift’ did not come close, even if I had gotten it. *Besides event currency, how do you make up for not being able to breed in 3 caves for 10 days???? *To get all of the dragons (not counting pedestals or anything else) that I do not have would cost 222, 826 Candy/event currency, so I do not think wanting to be compensated for what I actually lost out on being able to collect and breed is too much to expect.

The compensation was woefully inadequate. I don’t think anyone can deny that. If you didn’t receive compensation, please contact support. It would still be worth getting the gems and EC since the event market is still open.

Not only were you unable to play for 10 days, the compensation was insufficient and wasn’t even sent to you. 💔 I don’t know if Deca will add anything else to the compensation. We have certainly been pushing for it for days, but we have not heard a final decision.

Many people have said they reached out and were told that DECA weren't going to give anyone else compensation (despite Luflic saying people should reach out if they didn't get it), because compensation was only automatically given to the parks that they had recorded as ones affected by the bug.
This was what I got: "the additional compensation is distributed only to players that have been confirmed to be affected by the issue by our system. Those players will receive the compensation automatically to their parks and no further actions are necessary."
Someone else got: "Please note that all accounts that we have a record of, to be affected of the issues previously mentioned, have been distributed a compensation"
Definitely still reach out, imnachokitty, but don't get your hopes up. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I know your pain 😔

Yes, I do know players are receiving those messages. I’ve reported them to Deca, and they’ve looked into it. When a player doesn’t receive compensation, contacting Deca, as they requested, is the next step so there’s a record of the ongoing issue. The majority of players were compensated. For those who weren’t, Deca will review their records.

I got 100 gems and thought, meh, I can”t be bothered to ask Deca for the other 50 gems, it”s like a drop in the ocean.

They sent it to me. But when I pushed ‘collect’, it did not credit me with event currency. The gems were credited, but did not make up for having to pay gems to open event gifts, 9-10 days of Colossseum collection and any I may have gotten in quests. Thank you for caring.

This is terrible. I'm so sorry for you and everyone else that this happened to. I hope that they consider things and provide some other form of compensation- no one is happy with this, and they shouldn't be.
I wish you the best luck going forward and I hope they come up with a bettter way to compensate you and the others who lost out on a huge chunk of the event.
