The Revolt ad is revolting lol! I get it all the time now. The update didn't get rid of those ads and the stretch screen I'm getting them a lot now there are several of them.
I never got the quit vaping ads. I'll probably get them at some point later tho. I agree with everyone else I haven't had ads that go to the App Store for a while. I think I had one a couple days ago but that's it so that's good.
The ads for State-of-Survival yesterday put me into the App Store everytime.🤷♀️ I had them a lot yesterday.

I received this ad yesterday too. But it did not show today, after I updated to version 4.23.0. I’ll add it to the list if it appears again, post-update.

I think besides the game ads, we also get ads that are specific to our region/country. Maybe that's why DECA doesn't know that the online magazine ads that seem to be for US players (I think, I don't get them in Singapore) are causing the stretched screens to happen. I'll download the update to see if I get this issue again!

My ads are horrible again, stretchy screen, sending me to the app store and then freezing my vale. The coliseum hasn’t played the bonus gem ad in days, just the oops messages. And this is going to the coliseum first thing on opening my game.

I don't think the solution is to remove ads that stretch the screen. I don't blame the ads for that practice. They play at their specific resolution for all games, and in whatever orientation they find to be their standard. Dragonvale should be correcting any resolution changes that occur once the ad is finished.
Ads taking you to the app store is a different story. That shouldn't be happening, and the blame lies in both Deca and the advertisers courts. Dragonvale shouldn't allow this to occur in their game, but advertisers are also always looking for ways to get those 'clicks' and finding ways around game protections. Remove the ads, but also find a better long term solution that prevents this from happening.
Finally for those 3 part ads, the simple solution is that Deca should stop an ad from playing after 30 seconds (or some set number, I'd argue 20) and return you to the game with a reward, closing the ad. That way no player has to click the tiny little 'X' that the advertisers try to hide in various corners - I swear it gets smaller every month. Miss the click, or don't notice that it's a counter and not an 'X' and you go to the app store. If an ad is a 3 part ad trying to force you to click them, then you can just wait out the timer and it'll close on the first part. They'll stop doing that then.

I disagree. I think the buggy ads need to be pulled ASAP, because it’s preventing players from earning gems and event currency. This is an iOS exclusive bug, and if Android players can earn currency and gems, iOS players should as well. We’re four months into iOS ad problems and a lopsided earnings potential for Android players.
I agree DV should be correcting the resolution and screen orientation, limiting the length of ads, and preventing redirections to the App Store — but it isn’t. And some of these bugs, like stretchy screen, have been ongoing for a year. Sometimes it’s better and seems like it’s resolved, but then it comes back.
I know the solution to the ad issues seem simple to you and others. But I think it’s much more complicated and challenging than what you’ve proposed, because I know the DV team has been working on the ad problems as a top priority for quite some time.
So if these ad bugs can’t be fixed, or if it’s going to take any longer, it’s much faster to just pull the ads. That would be a lot easier and quicker than correcting DV, adding timers to specific, lengthy ads, and blocking App Store visits.
Once the ads are removed, if Deca can fix the game and the adverts, that’d be great. But the priority here is to let players access and watch ads bug-free so they can fairly earn event currency and gems.

Fishdom — ugh! That’s from the Homescapes series. I haven’t received any ads from the Homescapes family in a while, but I’ve been bogged down with online magazine adverts.
I reported Fishdom to Deca. Thank you!

DECA has no idea of the “ETA” on when the portrait mode/stretchy screen will be corrected.
I replied with this: Well, if you have no idea when you will fix this problem can you at least stop running ads which present in portrait mode? Do you think I’m the only one who’s fed up with this?

What I'm trying to say is that ads that 'stretch' the screen is standard practice for advertisers. They play their ads in whatever resolution they define, and they expect the application to set things back once done. I see their ads in many other games that display ads, in multiple orientations, and only DV appears to have the stretching issue.
Ones that auto take you to the app store should be removed. That's bad practice, and they know they're doing something wrong. It still should be prevented by DV, but at least in this case the advertisers are to blame too.
I say it's a simple solution, but it's true I do not know their specific code. I've been a software developer for 30 years and it honestly doesn't appear to be a difficult thing to fix given that: A) Swapping out and back into the game fixes it. B) It means they have a piece of code that's called at open that resets the resolution. C) They very likely just need to call that routine whenever an ad finishes. These tend to be easier things to fix - you can reproduce them easily and they have multiple ways to solve them, I just suggested one. It's the bugs that crash on different hardware that you can't reproduce or get reports on that are the biggest pain to deal with.
We don't know what the impact is for them removing ads. How does it impact their revenue? I know little about the advertising market itself, does Homescape/Fishdom pay more than others for advertising space and that's why we see them more? Is there a limit on how many times they can play one ad over a period of time, and do they have enough advertisers for the game to keep removing the problem ones? Those answers could have serious impact on whether they're willing to just keep removing problems or not going forward.

From what I understand, Deca didn’t address the stretchy screen issue, but worked on the ads that open the App Store. For some reason, they’re treating these as separate issues, even though all reports have stated they’re the same problem — it results in players not receiving the ad reward.
I have noticed most of the mobile game ads that redirected to the App Store now appear to be correct. Instead of opening the App Store, there’s a button to 'Get' or 'Install' the app. Here’s a mobile game ad I received yesterday. This ad used to end at the App Store. It’s been replaced with a slightly different version that doesn’t mess with the App Store:
This is how mobile game ads look on Android; they never resort to the Play Store. So it appears this part of the issue has been largely fixed. But by eliminating so many of the glitchy App Store ads, it appears more stretchy screen ads have taken their place. These two issues (App Store and stretchy screen) need to be addressed together because it’s two parts of one problem. Otherwise, the fix isn’t effective, which is what we’re seeing now.
I have submitted a further inquiry with Deca regarding this topic. I’ll let you know if I hear anything.

No, since it doesn’t seem Deca has much control over which ads play, it likely doesn’t matter if it’s a Homescapes or shopping website advert. So there’s probably no jeopardy or ad run requirement. Deca uses third parties to provide ads. Backflip did this as well. I believe most mobile games will rely on an outside service because they don’t have the staff or time to negotiate contracts with each advertiser, and advertisers don’t have time to manage hundreds of individual contracts. If some ads are blocked by DV because they’re glitching the game, there’s probably many adverts that can take their place.
After four months, I’d be surprised if Deca hadn’t consider your solutions. The problem with stretchy screen is that it was also freezing or crashing the game and preventing any remaining ads from playing. It’s more complicated than just soft closing the app to resolve the stretched screen. Deca has tried fixing the ad bug with the last three DV updates, but were unsuccessful. Right now, on the heels on a new event, the best thing they can do is prevent the buggy ads from running. That’s the fasting answer to the problem. However, it doesn’t mean this is the only solution. They can work on a better method once players aren’t plagued with glitchy ads.
PSA: one thing players need to keep in mind, even if Deca can successfully limit most of the ads that glitch the game, it likely won’t be a perfect solution.
Some problematic ads may creep through, so Deca will need to continue working on the fix and refining their process or implement something new. Their immediate goal is to eliminate as many buggy ads as possible so they are a rare to nonexistent occurrence.
I understand we are far from that goal right now, but I’ve passed on your experiences with the update so they can better address the problem. Thank you!

You have more faith in their dev team than I do. I've worked with too many companies that outsourced our development (and this is a similar concept), and seen how long it takes them to get up to speed or fix issues, we're often eventually called back. Some are better than others, but it can take a long time to get fully up to speed on a project where you can see probable solutions before even looking at the exact cause in detail.
Sure, fixing the stretch issues as I described won't fix the crashes. But I'm seeing stretching issues 10x more often than crashes. In fact, I've not crashed once since the update (I know that's been lucky) but I have seen my screen stretched on every ad except Chick-fil-a ones. And the tab out/in issue hasn't been known as a fix that long, it's a more recent solution that the community discovered. And I never assume someone has thought of a solution, even when others think it may be obvious, as I've seen first hand many times that the simple thing was not done. Some of their devs may not have even gotten that detail yet, who knows what's lost in the phone tag game between the community, reps, management, and then developers.
To be clear, if anyone has a suggestion on how to fix a bug or the code, please email Deca with your ideas. I’m sure they will welcome any suggestions, especially if the message is polite.
I am more than happy to relay any requests or feedback regarding events, content, bugs, gameplay, updates, or DV in general. But I don’t provide instructions or specifics on how to resolve bugs. It is not the position of the Game Reps to advise the DV team in this capacity, because it could be taken the wrong way and sound like we’re telling them how to do their job.
I have faith and believe the DV team is very competent and skilled in their positions. I don’t know if they’ve thought of every solution, but I’m not their supervisor, colleague, or an expert in mobile game development. So it’s probably best if they took advice from someone else.
Members are more than welcome to post their solutions on the forum, but it will probably get more mileage if you also reach out to Deca. Even though it’s not the place for reps, I strongly encourage those who have expertise to share your knowledge with them, since they’re the ones who can implement your ideas. The DV team is very friendly and kind, so please do not hesitate to contact them.

Wouldn't it be good if there was some way to rate an ad for "annoying" or "broke DV" and with enough ratings those ones get pulled or Deca stop allowing those ones from showing at all.
Even if after returning from an ad you had to click a rating "0 = pull this immediately, to 5 = pleasant and not bugged" to get your reward. Ads that break DV automatically get a 0.
Any ads that play more times than their total rating get a perma ban

Played an eggy hatchy ad for an extra ticket, no issues. Then went to play the colosseum ad. It didn't even try, just straight to 'oops' error message and no reward. Not had that happen before without having a previous ad fail, after all their attempted fixes. Something new is broken.

The market ad and colosseum have been broken for me since the new update. No problems with it prior to updating for awhile. Oops every single time now. All others have been playing fine. I haven’t tried the eggy ads yet.
Clicked 'redo' on Eggy Hatchy game to redo a move, first time I tried it. No ad played, it did not roll back, nothing except I went from 5 to 4 redo's left. Clicked a second time, got an ad and worked. Lost one with no error message at all.

None of these have worked for me so far. Absolutely nothing happens, and then it takes one away.

So you’re not able to watch any ads, and Eggy is treated the failed ad as a watched ad. Is that correct?
It’s a big problem if players are losing the reward. I’ve already mentioned reimbursements to Deca.
